Yes. How it works, is that the shop closes whenever the snail's needs aren't filled, and only opens when they are. If your snail's fun need is low it will say 'I'm bored'. Play the baseball minigame until the snail no longer says 'I'm bored' and e.g. sleeps instead.

This took me a while to figure out too, particularly since I didn't understand that the baseball minigame is triggered by simply waiting on its screen for several seconds. You have to wait each time, for a baseball to come. I thought some button would trigger it, but no. So, yeah. That's the full explanation.

Regarding the wallet currency I don't think you earn any from diving/jumping/taking soda cannons. I think you only earn it through walking animation. Though I just started playing so maybe you get more than enough currency through regular play.
