Just the facts, ma'am.
Enter ends your turn.
1 and 2 switches between squad members.
Tab brings up a console log that you likely don't need.
WASD moves the map around.
Space bar opens up tactical menu and can close dialogue.
R reloads.
X targets and then shoots at nearest enemies.
I is inventory and character panel and should be rebound (to E) for easy access. Take some time to read the two first soldiers' special abilities, they're pretty good. The girl can heal herself to full. The guy can shoot a special attack that's more accurate but has a cooldown.
ALT highlights all objects you can interact with. VERY USEFUL.
To make sure you have used up all your action points before you end your turn, check in the lower left corner for two little blips on each soldier that I first mistook for rank marking chevrons, they should be greyed out.
You can walk through other soldiers.
You can move your soldiers away from tough aliens and wait for a cooldown to replenish. VERY USEFUL.
Recycling a piece of gear gains you energy, which can be spent in the shop to buy gear.

At 1600x900 on my Razer Blade 14" it looks a bit miniaturized, I suggest playing on a lower resolution for good visuals on a laptop. No bugs so far, and mostly good teaching mechanics to get you on a very gradual learning curve. EDIT: I highly recommend 1366x768 resolution, looks much better and easier to read text on a laptop.

Enjoy.

I have yet to figure out:
If reloads automatically consume a complete magazine and if you can unload a weapon to use the ammo in another (don't think so).

Very good stuff.

Thanks, very helpful tips. As far as I can tell, yes you consume a complete magazine when reloading, so don't do it until you're empty.

Don't rush to leave the level - move your mouse in a controlled sweep across the map to find crates you might have missed as these can be collected after an area has been cleared.

Also the game will warn you if you try to give more than 5 stim packs [+1 stat boost(s)] to a single character.

Hm, as I know, there is no way to get 'em up before end of fight. Then they'll get up by themselves.

I haven't played this game for about a year. I forget how to revive an unconscious character. I've tried using a Medkit "On Target" to the character beside me, but that doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Took me awhile to notice this one:
If you mouseover your character, red rings appear around all the enemies you can see.
Bigger deal: mouseover any square you can move to, and you'll get the same effect. Super useful for exact positioning.
