Aligned Turbines

Description
This mod reduces the size of wind turbines to 4x2, allowing them to line up with solar panels. It also reduces the area that needs to be kept clear to 4x4 behind and 8x4 in front, which is the exact space needed for three solar panels. No changes are made to the costs or power output.

UPDATE: turbine blades have been shortened to fit within the four-tile width.


Can this be added to an existing save?

Yes, your existing turbines will shrink.

Can this be removed from an existing save?

Yes, but either deconstruct your wind turbines first or leave enough room for them to grow back to their original size.

Are you aware that there is only one L in "aligned"?

Are you implying I made a typo and didn't notice until after I created a preview image and uploaded the mod to steam? Because that sounds like something I'd do.

Heya, I liked the mod. Wanted to ask though, is it possible to make a patch for advanced wind turbines from VFE power? The mod causes them to have the same area(4x4 behind 8x4 front) as the vanilla turbines, while they are of a different size(2x3).

@SaMaHaJoGu you can't have walls, trees, roofs, other wind turbines and a few other "tall" things in the exclusion zone in front of and behind wind turbines. The exclusion zone is highlighted when you select a wind turbine, and it will also tell you in the info down the bottom left what is blocking the turbine if it is being blocked.

@Yo I started with Greenworld light and replaced the soil and soilrich textures with tweaked ones.

Yup. And then when I remove the walls on the right-most side (the side where the turbines aren't working because they're being blocked by walls), the turbines start working. I feel like regular turbines could be encased by walls? I don't remember, for some reason... goes to show how long I've been using aligned turbines! LOL

I'm getting a bug where if you build 2 of them side by side and then you incase those two inside walls, only 1 of them is working and the other is blocked by wall(s). And if you build 4 facing each other, and encase them inside a larger area of walls, only 2 of them registers as functional and the other 2 are being blocked by wall(s).

Can you make a version for the geothermal generator? it feels one tile too tall and it has thrown a wrench into my designs every single time because it's always bigger than i expect it to be
