Little Inferno recently was updated with achievement support, hooray! But uh oh, there is one missable achievement, and it's a doozy. By that I mean, it's conceivably easy, but in practice it's annoying as hell. One simple misclick can undo a couple-hours-long attempt at the achievement, and once you drag the Hug Coupon into the trademark Little Inferno Entertainment Fireplace, the only thing you can possibly do is to burn it.

I tried to get it while going for all the other achievements on my Classic run revisiting the game (I saw reports in a Steam review that someone saved the Hug Coupon but wasn't able to get the hug in Ho Ho Holidays, I have not personally verified that), and misclicked, oops. Goodbye Ms. Nancy's sugar. I even tried immediately Alt+F4'ing, to no avail. The game has an autosave system, and even though I was relatively quick on the draw, my Hug Coupon was lost to the ether. I started a new run, regularly backing up my save, and made a few similar misclicks. Thankfully, by backing up my save, I didn't have to restart nearly so far back. But still, I decided to make this guide so no one else will have to share my pain. You can use my save file, or regularly back up your own.

Certain game saves have their progress tied to a Steam ID and won't work by simply dragging and dropping a save file into the location. I am not able to verify whether this works exactly as intended or not. However, I have copied my save for the game and used it to reload from checkpoint after accidentally burning the Free Hug Coupon, so I know that it has worked for me in that way. Save files are located at the following path: %APPDATA%\Little Inferno\profiles.bin

Type Run in the Windows search bar (Windows Key + R), and copy paste the above to get to your personal file path.

Remember to make a backup in a different area of your computer if you have personal save data which you would like to keep, before performing the replacement. Make sure the game is not running before copying your profiles.bin in order to ensure a safe backup. Once that's done, you can safely replace your profiles.bin with my provided save, and theoretically it should work hunky dory, putting you near the very end of the game, poised to give Ms. Nancy that sweet sweet sugar.

If you want to make a backup of your own save file instead, you can copy-paste your profiles.bin to a new location, such as your Desktop, and periodically back it up so you don't accidentally burn the Free Hug Coupon. Make sure the game is not running before copying your profiles.bin in order to ensure a safe backup. If you accidentally misclick and burn the hug coupon, your progress will be set back minutes rather than hours. Just transfer the save file from your Desktop or elsewhere back into the game's save data location, and remember to backup your save regularly. My system was to back up my save with each new catalogue unlocked.
