The Shotgun and The Choice of Shotgun
I like playing engineer, but when push comes to shove, you really can't just tank, you gotta use a little less gun and whoop out the ole shotgun. A personal favourite of mine is the "Frontier Justice" it provides 1 crit for every kill your sentry achieves, but your crits will only be avaliable to you once the sentry has been destroyed. There are a couple of other options, however. 1. The Pomson 6000 This laser gun requires no ammunition, it is pumped, thus generating power, it's projectiles cannot be reflected and Medics lose 20% uber on hit and Spies lose 20% cloak. This weapon has no downsides 2. The Widowmaker this is a favourite of lots of people because of instead of ammunition, this weapon takes 30 metal from your metal reserve and can be tricky in a tanking situation, but, on hit, metal is returned to the user. 3. Rescue Ranger this is also a good choice because you can rescue your sentry or dispenser or teleporter from a distance, quite a useful factor if it is being abused whilst you are away. 4. The Shotgun this weapon has no stats.
The pistol
In this chapter I will not cover any non-stock secondaries besides the wrangler what's that you say? "I want all the secondaries! Now!" Well, no, this is just the basics, The pistol, at least for me, is definetly a last resort, I don't like to use it when I have my shotgun avaliable because it does minimal damage, and I don't like it's 'hit or miss' attributes.

The Wrangler

The Wrangler is called The Wrangler because you can quite literally wrangle your sentry and take control of it's fire, wether you only want bullets, but still want a level three, or only want rockets. You can use M1 to fire bullets or M2 to fire rockets (default bindings) this is useful because you can quite specifically monitor your damage rate, wether you want to torment a scout or shred up an annoying spy, this is the weapon for you. Also, you can sentry jump which is shooting a rocket at your feet and jumping, shooting you across the sky as you soar, looking down upon your peasant team-mates as you, the engineer, fly across the sky. Which can land you into some trouble with the local Market Gardening Soldiers.
The Wrench
The wrench is your ticket to building welfare, this hunk of metal will keep your building - and sometimes you - alive. It can repair and speed up the building process. This weapon is what the Engineer uses as a melee to fight off people, to repair his buildings and to speed up the building of his buildings. It is very useful for tanking because all tanking is is rapidly clicking, hitting your sentry with a dispenser behind you, wether or not it is damaged.
