The laws of the Old Testament do not bind us as Jesus perfected it through his new commandments (Matt. 22:34-40 & Matt. 5:17-19). The Law has not been abolished, but rather man is invited to rediscover it in the person of his Master who is its perfect fulfilment.
Protestants do not understand the concept of latria, hyperdulia and dulia. They believe we "worship" Mary and the Saints and Angels, when we venerate them. This is because Protestants do not understand the FULL WORSHIP we give God. For them, merely bowing to a statue is worship, as they do not respect God. When they see our veneration, they confuse it for their simplistic respect for God, which makes sense given the fact that they do not engage in the Sacrifice of the Eucharist.
