If you have the problem where the game opens up in a fullscreen window with only the girl showing, the menu text IS there, but it is hidden.

Randomly click about one third from the left and top in and move about until something appears, then hit the escape key and choose Settings.

Uncheck Fullscreen and choose a proper resolution, and the game will appear in a windowed mode, with the menu active.
