Bright+Shiny Metal (明亮+闪亮金属) - All Weapons/Shields/Armor/Helmets/etc (updated)

Description
Makes the metal more realistically bright shiny (for both battle + campaign characters)

All the character and weapons materials have been processed, so the metal areas on the models are brighter and more "shiny" and thus look more like actual (polished?) metal.

This is an early version, the degree of brightness and "shine" may need to be adjusted. Please let me know in the comments.

Important, best graphics settings:
The vanilla game has Screen Screen Space Reflections (graphics->advanced) turned off be default, because one cannot see those reflections with the dull vanilla metal. I HIGHLY recommend you enable Screen Screen Space Reflections as it will add A LOT to metal realism (the environment actually shine in helmets/armor,etc.)

This mod can be used with any other mod. If the other mod edits the Vanilla "_base_colour_map.dds" /" _material_map.dds" files, you should make sure this mod loads first if you want it to have priority. It will not prevent any other mod to work proper, as this mod ONLY changes textures.

Google Translate, English to Chinese:

如果另一个模组编辑了香草“_base_colour_map.dds”/“_material_map.dds”文件,如果你想让它优先,你应该确保首先加载这个模组。它不会阻止任何其他模组正常工作,因为此模组仅更改纹理。
Greetings
phazer

The mod was made by running all the XXX_base_colour.dds XXX_material_map.dds files through a C++ program I made for this.

Yeah, ok, if they use NEW models with NEW textures, with different names/paths, it will not work,
then I would have process those new textures (I wrote a program for it, that auto-processes the 1000s of textures, for all characters).
But I would need permission, and time.

Try the link I posted below, that is a mod which changes ALL metal, not only weapons, if some models in the mod are re-used, at least those will work; that could be many or few.

So after some investigating, I conclude that it doesn't work.
Historical units reskin adds a whole load of new textures for his models from which he replaces the models into his new variants.

No, ofc, only models that reference the textures I have processed, will use the shiny textures
Maybe also try

This mod only changes weapons/shields, and looks better I think.

I could process the other mods, with the same code, to make them more shiny, but then I had to have permission from the authors.

@Mrauksia I have yet to test tbh.

@Phazer Well aware of that, but Historical reskin changes a lot of models. So I am not sure if they use your textures

@Guvenoren
If you want the "SHINY meta mod" textures to load instead of whatever else,
just move the load order of the mods
then they will "override" textures with the same paths.

That is also how the actual mode works, it override the vanilla textures,

@Guvenoren And what are the results?
Guvenoren 19 May, 2023 @ 11:44am
I wonder if the textures you edit would actually work. I have to investigate.

Historical units reskins changes quite a lot of models.

Guvenoren, yes, but if the reskin changes weapon textures, it will use them,
You could try, nothing bad will come of it.
