s1.) Overview

Excluding download and installation, this simple process will take 9 minutes! :)!

This is a one stop shop, learn how to:
  • Buy, then install Fable 3 on Steam

  • Fix Fable 3 crash on startup

  • Enable Fable 3 on windows 10

  • Enable online Co-op

  • Install 64 DLC's
s2.) Prerequisites
As of 06/11/22, Fable 3 is listed for £24.02 by sellers with a 100% trust rating

  • You require £24.02 or equivalent to purchase the game

  • You require a (free) tool for opening .rar files, such as 7Zip[www.7-zip.org], or
    Win-Rar[www.win-rar.com]

  • You require a (free) tool for opening .txt files, such as Notepad++[notepad-plus-plus.org] or "Notepad"

s4.) Steam Key
Fable 3 can not be purchased from the Steam store, we will instead activate a Fable 3 game key on Steam

  • Using the link below, purchase a Fable 3 game key, "100% positive feedback" sellers are available:
    https://www.g2!a.com/en-gb/fable-iii-steam-key-global-i10000003328004 (remove the "!")

  • Open Steam, above and to the left of "STORE" are "Steam | View | Friends | Games | Help", click on "Games", select "Active a Product on Steam"

  • Proceed through the "Product Activation" pop-up until it asks for your "Product Code", enter the Fable 3 game key that you purchased, and install Fable 3

  • "PLAY" Fable 3, upon the "Fable III CD Key" pop-up click "COPY KEY TO CLIPBOARD", and click "PLAY"

  • A Microsoft pop-up may appear asking for the game key (this only happens once so I apologise for not recalling the specifics), press "CTRL + V" to paste the key, Fable 3 is now activated on Steam
s5.) Windows 10 & Crash on Startup Fix
  • "PLAY" Fable 3, a pop-up may appear "Error" "DSS Launcher: failed to start application. [2000] -> 0x000002E4", this is due to Fable 3 relying on an outdated "Games For Windows Live"

  • Hit the windows key and search "Add or remove programs", in the "Apps & features" pop-up click on the "Search this list" hotbar,
    search "Microsoft Games for Windows - LIVE Redistributable" and click "Uninstall", search "Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplace" and click "Uninstall"

  • Using the hyperlink below, download the "Microsoft Games for Windows - LIVE" ("gfwlivesetup" once downloaded) file:
    GFWL Fixed [community.pcgamingwiki.com]

  • Open "gfwlivesetup" and run "gfwlivesetup.exe", Upon the "Install Success" pop-up click "Close"

  • Right click on Fable 3 in Steam, click "Properties...", click "LOCAL FILES", click "Browse..." (this opens your Fable 3 directory "\Steam\steamapps\common\Fable 3")

  • Right click "Fable3.exe", click "Properties", click "Compatibility", tick "Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 7", tick "Run this program as administrator", click "Apply", click "OK"
    Right click "FableLauncher.exe", click "Properties", click "Compatibility", tick "Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 7", tick "Run this program as administrator", click "Apply", click "OK"

  • "Restart" your PC for these changes to take effect when you next "PLAY" Fable 3

  • Using the hyperlink below, create an Xbox Live account
    GFWL Sign Up[www.xbox.com]

  • "PLAY" Fable 3, upon the "Games for Windows - LIVE" pop-up select sign in, tick "Save my e-mail address and password", tick "Sign me in automatically", enter your details and
    "Sign In"
    Your first sign in will take 1 min-20 mins, having now connected Fable 3 with your GFWL account and ticked "Sign me in automatically" there will be no future waiting on GFWL :)

    press "Home" to bring up the GFWL menu at any time in game
s7.) 64 DLCs!
W A R N I N G ! Install this after you have completed the introductory escape the castle quest! Otherwise you will be unable to open the passage in the castle tomb and escape into the caves!

  • Using the hyperlink below, download Unnybolt's "Fable_3_Unlock_ALL_DLC"
    All 64 DLCs[drive.google.com]

  • Hit the windows key and search "This PC", select your (C:) Drive, click "Users", select your username, click "AppData", click "Local", click "Microsoft",
    click "XLive", click "DLC", click "4D53090A", click "00000002", click "D7FCB87DC6790538CC5EE45EC44EC782603B8ACB"
    If you don't have the above file directory, create it yourself with identical names and locations to those listed above, in my case:
    C:\Users\Goldencoley\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\DLC\4D53090A\00000002\

  • Open "Fable_3_Unlock_ALL_DLC", open "ALL DLC", copy and paste all of the contents into "C:\Users\Goldencoley\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\DLC\4D53090A\00000002\
    D7FCB87DC6790538CC5EE45EC44EC782603B8ACB

  • Using the hyperlink below, enter the Xbox Live Gamertag you created in "s.6)", copy your "XUID (HEX): 000901T3QX8M19NU"
    Gamertag to XUID[cxkes.me]

  • Open "C:\Users\Goldencoley\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\DLC\4D53090A\00000002\
    D7FCB87DC6790538CC5EE45EC44EC782603B8ACB", rename "0009xxxxxxxxxxxx.LIC" with your "XUID (HEX)" for example "000901T3QX8M19NU.LIC"

  • Open the "Content" folder in "C:\Users\Goldencoley\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\DLC\4D53090A\00000002\
    D7FCB87DC6790538CC5EE45EC44EC782603B8ACB", open "package_collection_info.xmb"

  • Open "Fable_3_Unlock_ALL_DLC", open "Extras", open "Coin Golf Weapons Unlock", open "Coin Golf Weapons Unlock Instructions.txt", copy the package

    Warning! Do not interrupt open packages in "package_collection_info.xmb"! Make sure that you paste the above beneath a closed package "</package>"!

  • Paste your copied package in "package_collection_info.xmb", paste it beneath any line of code that has been closed with a "</package>" as illustrated below:
    Pasted below </package> and above <package>

  • Open "Fable_3_Unlock_ALL_DLC", open "Extras", open "Coin Golf Weapons Unlock", open
    "1. Unlock Coin Golf Weapons", copy both files
    Open the "Content" folder in "C:\Users\Goldencoley\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\DLC\4D53090A\00000002\
    D7FCB87DC6790538CC5EE45EC44EC782603B8ACB", paste "unlockDLC.bnk" and "unlockDLC.bnk.dat"

  • "PLAY" Fable 3, check out the melee weapons: "Donna's Kebab", "Hammer of the Whale", and "Thundaraga", save the game so that these 3 weapons are now in your save data, close Fable 3

    Final step!

  • Open "Fable_3_Unlock_ALL_DLC", open "Extras", open "Coin Golf Weapons Unlock", open
    "2. Replace after unlocking Coin Golf Weapons", copy both files
    Open the "Content" folder in "C:\Users\Goldencoley\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\DLC\4D53090A\00000002\
    D7FCB87DC6790538CC5EE45EC44EC782603B8ACB", paste "unlockDLC.bnk" and "unlockDLC.bnk.dat" - replacing the previous 2 files

s8.) Bonus | New Game Without Progress Loss
  • You can play as different monarchs without losing your progress

    Enter the save room, stand in front of a save manequin, press "=" to view saves files that aren't tied to your current monarch, this way you can save your monarchs in different save rooms to one another (I have 5 monarchs and have the option to start a new game as a 6th for example)

Posted this in another thread, a little thing to mention as it was something i ran into while attempting to connect with another player. If one of you has ALL the dlc AND the extras + fixes that UnnyBolt had put up for Coin Golf & Traitors Keep etc, you won't be able to connect to players who have not installed 100% of those packs. The only exception being the colour fix which apparently does not count as DLC and won't throw up that dreaded cannot join game message

Okay. So I followed all of the directions to the letter, got out of the catacombs after escaping the castle, then saved the game and quit. I tried to follow the steps ""PLAY" Fable 3, check out the melee weapons: "Donna's Kebab", "Hammer of the Whale", and "Thundaraga", save the game so that these 3 weapons are now in your save data, close Fable 3"

When i tried to do this and started up the game, I got a GFWL pop up saying I didn't have the required downloadable content necessary to open this save game. Please help :( I followed your directions TO THE LETTER, failed, uninstalled the game and everything else I downloaded, also uninstalled GFWL etc, and then tried it all again from the beginning. Got back to this point AGAIN and it's still failing.

I'm getting the error when trying to join a friend, "Co-op session failed to connect. This may be due to your request being rejected, or due to your network settings. To check your network settings, press home to open The guide, then go to settings then Network information."

I have an error the game worked fine until i installed dlc. I start the game get to game on windows click sign in then get booted when i restart error see readme for details help please and thank you
