Agreed @vortigernrex! I mean at least some logic to why this happens. Like losing half your Mercers can make sense as cleaner fees for the mess you made failing plus medical fees to an ex-ICA doctor contact. So I can live with the idea of losing half the money. Same with all items you take into the field, makes sense. But lose everything in my safe-house? Where's the immersion logic I mean, I tried thinking of it as "they tracked down where the flight came / my safe-house location because I failed so evidence is still there from the landing location of the mission so the leader tried to clean up all leads and trials by raiding my safe-house" only to immediately think "they break in to steal syringes and rubber ducks while I have weapons everywhere worth thousands of dollars if not millions remain untouched?" xD xD (IOI if you are reading this, DO NOT GET ANY IDEAS OF REMOVING ALL WEAPONS TOO IF WE LOSE! xD It is already crazy enough getting the GOAT achievement xD)

I feel your pain - yeah too harsh in my opinion. Fair enough to lose what you were carrying and reset your specific track, forced Ironman Campaign Mode gets old fast.
