At least for Xbox Elite controlller V2 it works as long you Disable Steam inputs (Go to Steam game properties, Controller, Change Steam input/Default to Disable steam input) and it should work out of the box.

For the crazy sensivity

• Go to the game folder (Go to Steam game properties, local files, Open Folder)
  
• Then open the folder "engine" and open vars_pc.cfg(with notepad)
  
• Find "mousespeed=" and change to "-0.5" (if not comfortable, change values until satisfactory)

IMPORTANT
To make it stick you need to go to the game folder and go to "_Bin" and replace the "Launcher.exe" with the "GettingUp.exe"

• Go to the game folder (Go to Steam game properties, local files, Open Folder)
  
• Go to the "_Bin" folder (Marc Ecko's Getting Up 2\_Bin)
  
• Put the "Launcher.exe" in a backup folder (you can create one in the "_Bin" folder and put it there)
  
• Change the name of "GettingUp.exe" to "Launcher.exe", steam then will launch the game directly
  if you ever need to access the launcher again you just need to put it back in the "_Bin" folder, make the changes and put it back on the Backup folder.
  

(The PC version uses lower quality 22.050 KHz/96 Kbps tracks compared to the 44.1 KHz/128 Kbps tracks from the Xbox version.)

With the last released update of 2021, the game works fine with widescreen, the only problems (that at least i had to deal) was just the controller inputs and icons.
But for any more fixes the PCGamingWiki of Getting Up [www.pcgamingwiki.com] should do the job, and for any mods the guide section of steam is great.
