Carved into the very mountain itself, the imposing telescope known affectionately as 'Old Ossie' silently scans the heavens for knowledge that once belonged only to the Gods.

Bustling on the mountaintop, students and master alike toil all hours of the night and day, compiling their observations and sightings in huge tomes, spending months at a time atop the great mountain.

Meanwhile, down in the valley, under the shadow of Old Ossie, the village of Nettleborne pays little heed to the wond'rous works going on above their heads. Most of the inhabitants were employed to help build the giant hydraulic elevator shaft and work quarters, so they think of the Observatory as 'theirs'. Whilst they can be protective, they are happy to make a few coins showing new students the route to their new temporary home, and, if the stories they tell curious visitors over a few drinks late at night sound far fetched, well... who are we to disagree?
