Prior to downloading IndirectSound itself, you will need to make sure that you have the Visual Studio 2010 (x86) Redistributable installed on your machine if your machine is running Windows 8 or newer. As of current, you can find and download it from this link.[www.microsoft.com]


Once you have that installed, you are ready to download the latest version of IndirectSound from their website, which you can find here.[www.indirectsound.com] I recommend saving this .zip file to your desktop, as you will have to open and use it very soon.

Configuring and setting up IndirectSound is a very straightforward process. Firstly, you will need to find and open the folder of the game. You can get here by right-clicking the game in your library and then following the pathway Properties > Local Files > Browse.


Next, with the use of a program such as 7zip or Winrar, open the IndirectSound.zip file with a double-click and extract its contents to the game folder. You can do this simply by pressing Ctrl+A upon opening your preferred file archiver and dragging the highlighted contents into the game folder.


If you've made it this far, then congratulations, this is the final step. Open the extracted dsound.ini file with a text editor such as Notepad, and press Ctrl+F to search for "eax1" (without the quotations). You will want to edit both the "eax1" and "eax2" values to say "true" (as shown below). Remember to save the file before closing Notepad.
