Introduction
Opaline is an RPG Maker game developed by Warfare Studios and published by Aldorlea Games. It has two main characters with different party members, with the story being switched between both perspectives several times. Since the game has an official walkthrough, I don't want to make a walkthrough out of respect for the developer and publisher, but after playing the Millennium games from Aldorlea Games, I realized that a guide for secret rooms and side quests is necessary for everyone to enjoy the game to its fullest, with or without the official guide. Those who want a more detailed walkthrough can buy the official guide (they also have annotated maps), while those who wants more in-depth guide can refer to this guide. Tips and Tricks
  • Interact with all objects, especially in towns. There are a lot of items hidden there.

  • Step on all tiles in the overworld. Enemies are scripted and some tiles have permanent stat increase.

  • If you are not playing in the easy difficulty, stock up on items. It's almost impossible to recover MP early on without items, and enemies hit hard. You can play without using items in the easy difficulty, although you need to be careful.

  • Save often! I can't count how many times I had to replay the game because I forgot to save before fighting a boss...

  • Try to finish all quests before you finish the next dungeon. Although you will be able to visit all towns except the first one later on, there's no telling if the quest has a time limit.

  • Use Egress skill to return to the dungeon entrance. Defeated enemies won't respawn unless if you exit the dungeon, so it doesn't hurt to use it if you have no more business in the dungeon.
Secret Rooms
In order to access the secret area, head to the opposite from where the character is facing. Note that some secret rooms are numbered earlier despite it being explorable later on. I advise you to check all secret rooms in an area before proceeding.
Tip: you can see the area name in the menu.

    Interact with the walls and body of water inside this secret room too for items.


  4. Genjur Cave (cave south of fort), in the same screen where a chest is blocking your way to the next screen (1 screen before Genjur's House).

  6. Water Shrine, second screen.
    Interact with the waterfalls too for extra items.

    Once you are in a room with 3 will-o-wisps blocking your way, enter the northeast room. Interact with the black pots for extra items.

    Once you are in a room with 3 will-o-wisps blocking your way, enter the northwest room. Interact with the mirrors and crates for an extra item.


  17. Dungeon Escape (inside the well when you are about to enter Castle Illaine), Meeting Room.
    Once you are in a room with 3 will-o-wisps blocking your way, enter the southwest room. Interact with the black pots for an extra item.


  18. Jango Caves (the cave where Liza's party was kidnapped to), second screen.
    Interact with the shells for an extra item.


  19. Jango Caves (the cave where Liza's party was kidnapped to), in the prison.


  20. Corridor. In the first screen after you exit Mourning-Greigh Prison (after defeating the boss).


  21. Secret Tunnel (the old prison Gallow's party was thrown into), in the room after you find the secret passage.
    Exit from the passage between the barrels to get extra items from the walls.


  22. Mourning-Greigh Prison (the old prison Gallow's party was thrown into), in the second screen after you find the secret passage.


  23. Mourning-Greigh Prison (the old prison Gallow's party was thrown into), in the area where you were jailed on, accessible after beating the boss.
    Interact with the coffins and skeletons on the wall to get extra items.


  24. Mount Zyzax, first screen.
    Head to the northeast corner of the map. Interact with the wall on the south side for an extra item.


  25. Mount Zyzax, first screen.
    Head all the way to the east after you enter this area. Interact with the waterfalls for extra items.


  26. Accursed Wastes, second screen.
    From the first screen exit, follow the stone path (head northeast in every intersection) until you see the second sets of yellow building that has the same color as this secret room, then head northeast. If you are still following the stone path, the building should be on your east once you reach the narrow grassy path (west of this screenshot).

Side Quests
Tip: you can see the area name in the menu. Use that as a reference when I was talking about location.

  1. In the first town (Hermon Village), once Tauros joined your party, talk to Arianne inside the mayor's house. The house is located at the northeast corner of the town. Find her dog in the woods and give it back to her. The dog is in the woods (Hermon Road), second screen from the first town. Head to the southwest corner of the map to find him.
    Reward: Warrior Ring


  2. After you reach Crusader's Camp and part with Liza to reach the Fort, talk to the blue-armored knight in Crusader's Camp. He's located in the northwest corner of the first screen. He'll ask you to slay Too Koom Gong in the mountains. Leave the camp and interact with the mountain west of the camp. Save before you do that, because you'll battle it right away.
    Reward: 100G


  3. In the Crusader's Fort's Main Hall, after you finished your first quest of taking down Genjur, talk to the guard on the right side behind Commander Steele. You will need to revisit the Genjur Cave to find Meister. He's located in the second screen. Save before talking to him, he's tough. Return to the guard once you're done.
    Reward: Mithril Axe


  4. Once you played as Liza and Bel for the first time, you'll end up in Vaetna City. Enter the second house from the right in the southeast corner. The man wants you to pick up his bag near Military Outpost if you talk to him twice. Just enter the outpost and interact with the bag near the entrance.
    Reward: 300G



  5. In Vaetna City, head inside the Church, the gray building next to Inn and Pub. Talk to the nun near the skeletons. She wants you to find a glowing blue sphere. You can find it in the second screen of Water Shrine, but you can't pick it up until you finished the dungeon. Once you beat the dungeon boss, return to where the orb is and return it to the nun.
    Reward: White Seal


  6. In Vaetna City, head north, then east after you cross a bridge. Enter the only house that has 2 fish barrels outside. Talk to the bald man twice to get a quest. You need to kill 20 Fluids. You'll find them in the Water Shrine. Kill them all (the game will give you a counter) and return to the man.
    Reward: Life Fruit


  7. Once you are in control of Gallow, head to Vaetna City. Enter Military Outpost and talk to the knight in the room with beds. You'll be asked to open the chest in the easternmost room, up the stairs. You'll need an attack of 96 to open the chest. Just level up to level 14 in the overworld to finish the quest. Since the monsters in the overworld doesn't respawn (and scripted), just reenter the area after you fight 1 enemy. I found it to be more effective to grind near the mountain path south of the Castle Illaine. Also, you can grind for Broadsword here, which is needed for Side Quest #9.
    Reward: Mini-Axe (small) or Mithril Axe (big)
    I suggest you to get the Mini-Axe since you can get Mithril Axe from Side Quest #3.


  8. Once you are in control of Liza in Hendo, talk to the mayor. After that, DO NOT SLEEP IN HIS BED. Instead, enter the middle red house, located in the westernmost area of the city (there's a man with red bandanna in front of the house). Talk to the old lady twice and she'll ask you to find her cat. The cat is located in the southeast corner of the city, outside the pub.
    Reward: 300G


  9. After you are in control of Gallow in Hendo, enter the building west of mayor's house and talk to the knight near the long table. Give him a Broadsword. You can't buy it in the shop, but if you kill all enemies in the dungeons up to this point, you should have extras.
    Reward: Ivory Helm


  10. In Delphinian Order (Mother Superior's home), head to sleep and talk to the nun near the barrels. You'll need to beat 3 Yellow Armies for her. They are located in your next location, Cave. It's the cave inside Mount Zyzax.
    Reward: 3 Mind Fruits


  11. In Desireigh, head north until you see a memorandum of two flames. Proceed to the west until you see a lot of houses. Enter the second house from the bottom on the left side of the water (House 5). Talk to the knight and give him a Mind Fruit.
    Reward: Boss Glasses


  12. In Desireigh, head to the Church, the building north of the housing areas from Side Quest #11. Talk to the white-haired woman and she'll talk about an offspring of the undead world roaming around the town. The offspring isn't actually inside the town. You need to go to the overworld to find a sparkle in the forest. Save your game, fight the Zomboid, then return to the woman.
    Reward: White Seal


  13. In Desireigh, head north until you see a memorandum of two flames. Proceed to the east until you see a lot of stores. Talk to the white-haired woman east of the Armor Shop. You'll need to deliver a package for his son in Vaetna. You don't need to go to Vaetna for this, just head to the Delivery Post, located to the southwest corner of the map (near the town entrance). Return to the woman for your reward.
    Reward: 200G


  14. In Desireigh, after the party merged and you talked to the king, check the letter to the east area inside the Castle. You'll find a letter that challenges you for a fight in the orange carpet in Hendo. Follow the instruction and fight the challenger.
    Reward: Winter's Smile (R)/Wyrmkiller/Dispel Herb (drop chance from the battle).
    Since this relic is missable, I suggest to save before the battle and load your earlier save if the relic didn't drop.

- Side Quests (2)
  1. In Desireigh, after the party merged and you talked to the king, head to the area full of houses, west from where the "two flames" memorial is. Enter the second house from the top on the right side of the water (House 8). The woman wants 1 Yack meat. You can find it in the island on the northeast corner of the overworld.
    Reward: 10 permanent HP for all party members.


  2. After you finish Side Quest #15, go to Desireigh and head to the Restaurant. The restaurant owner will say that he needs a new cook for his new menu. Yep, you need to talk to the quest giver in Side Quest #15, located in the second house from the top on the right side of the water of the housing area in Desireigh (that was mouthful...). Talk to the woman and return to the restaurant owner.
    Reward: Power Fruit, Guard Fruit, Mind Fruit, Speed Fruit
Relics
  1. Water Spirit (R)
    Effect: HP Recover, Fire Prot
    Location: Hermon Road
    Located inside Secret Room #03 (listed as secret room #03 in this guide). Interact with the body of water to get it.


  2. Critical Sword (R)
    Effect: Slashing power, may decrease DEF and AGI, Critical Bonus
    Location: Genjur Cave
    Unmissable. Obtained by taking Genjur's Sword in Genjur Cave.


  3. Go-Gloves (R)
    Effect: Double EXP
    Location: Vaetna City
    Head all the way north until you reach the Mayor's Mansion, then head all the way east to go around the wall. Follow the path until you reach 2 tents. Interact with the left tent.


  4. Eternity Ocarina (R)
    Effect: May Decrease SPI
    Location: Water Shrine
    Located inside Secret Room #09 (listed as secret room #10 in this guide).


  5. Divine Book (R)
    Effect: Half MP Cost, Double EXP
    Location: Water Shrine
    Located inside Secret Room #13 (listed as secret room #13 in this guide).


  6. Book of Earth (R)
    Effect: Earth power, may decrease ATK
    Location: Dungeon Escape (inside the well when you are about to enter Castle Illaine), Bedroom
    Located inside Secret Room #16 (listed as secret room #16 in this guide).


  7. Okanine (R)
    Effect: Critical Prot., Half MP Cost, Double EXP, HP Recover
    Location: Dungeon Escape (inside the well when you are about to enter Castle Illaine), Bedroom
    Located inside Secret Room #16 (listed as secret room #16 in this guide).


  8. Bell of Awareness (R)
    Effect: Blind, Silence, Confusion, Sleep and Paralysis Prot.
    Location: Jango Caves
    Head 1 screen south from the jail area. After that, follow the southwest path.


  9. Ocarina Shield (R)
    Effect: Half MP Cost, Air Prot.
    Location: Jango Caves
    After you fall down the hole in Jango Caves, interact with the waterfall to the east.


  10. Fury Knuckles (R)
    Effect: Melee and blow power, may stun and decrease DEF, Dual Attack, Critical Bonus
    Location: Mourning-Greigh Prison
    Located inside Secret Room #22 (listed as secret room #22 in this guide).


  11. Excellence Key (R)
    Effect: Confusion and Paralysis Prot.
    Location: Desireigh
    From the Restaurant in Desireigh, head east to find a house and a path to the south. Follow the south path until you reach the outer west area of the town. There is a chest to the northwest.


  12. Winter's Smile (R)
    Effect: Critical, ATK, DEF, SPI, and AGI down Prot., +20 Evade
    Location: Hendo
    Obtained by beating the challenger in Side Quest #14.


  13. Flaying Spirit (R)
    Effect: Whipping and Air power, may decrease DEF and SPI
    Location: Overworld
    Save before proceeding since you'll fight a boss here. Interact with the tower in the northwest corner of the map, west of Hermon Village to be exact.


  14. Heritage (R)
    Effect: Fire and dark power
    Location: Accursed Wastes
    Located inside Secret Room #27 (listed as secret room #27 in this guide).


Others
There is a Sea Monster on the southwest corner of the overworld if you travel with boat. There is no reward in beating him (I only got a Mind Fruit as a drop), but I still think it is worth mentioning.

Note: this image is taken in the southwesternmost corner of the overworld. Head 5 tiles north, 5 tiles west from the southwesternmost tile to find this boss. Bring your physical attackers since this boss heavily resists magic. Also, equip Paralysis prot. gears to your party member (especially Liza and Gallow) since the boss likes to inflict that status ailment.
