Introduction
When I purchased Fable Anniversary on Steam a few years back, I was eager to play after the download was finished. However, much to my dismay, I found that I was getting dizzy and my stomach queasy. Remembering what I had discovered – because I have the same problem with virtual reality headsets, that I would have to configure my VR settings for low IPD (interpupillary distance) and IPD offset for each eye. (Thank goodness I still had my recent eyeglass prescription to use as a reference without having to measure!) That said, I noticed I would soon experience motion sickness in some non-VR games not long after.

In this case, I realized that some PC games ported from console, like Xbox, the DPI (dots per inch) from a gaming mouse do not match the FoV (field of view) in the game playing on large monitors… which is similar to having IPD lower, or even higher, than average for VR.

If you are experiencing similar nausea while playing, this guide may help resolve the issue so gameplay might be more enjoyable.

It is assumed that Fable Anniversary is being run from a 64-bit version of the Windows operating system and have basic knowledge of editing text-based configuration files.
Editing Fable’s Default Settings Files
Sadly, it seems motion sickness and dizziness is still a common complaint due to this particular port not including mouse and camera sensitivity controls.

Remember, it is always important to create a backup copy of the file in case something goes wrong!

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. To fix, right click on Fable Anniversary in your Steam library.
  2. Go to Manage and select Browse local files.
  3. Navigate through the WellingtonGame > Config folders in Windows Explorer.
  4. Right click on the DefaultSystemSettings.ini file and select Open.
  5. Look for the line CameraSensitivity= and change the numerical value until it feels comfortable enough to play.

Note: I’ve got mine set to 0.3, but that setting might not work for everyone. Feel free to use it, or the default value, as a starting point.
  6. This is not necessary but I have found it to be helpful, is setting the UseVsync= and UseDOF= lines to False.

Optional – If you find that you are still sensitive, try using another known tweak (located in the DefaultGame.ini file in the same folder location).

Scroll down until you see the lines:
[DebugStickLookZone MobileInputZone] Inputkey=MouseY Horizontal Inputkey=MouseX
Under this section, you should see:
Acceleration=12.0 Smoothing=1.0
Change values for Acceleration to 1.0 and Smoothing to 0.0.

Additional Options: Now this may or may not work for some players, but if the settings you applied still isn't quite satisfactory, these tweaks may also be helpful:
  • In the same location in the same file as previously mentioned, look for the line TapDistanceConstraint=32 and change the value to 1.
  • Scroll down until you locate the [DebugStickLookZone MobileInputZone] section and in the line, TapDistanceConstraint=5, change the value to 1.
Additional Notes
It should be noted that if you get a new computer, monitor with a larger display or a new gaming mouse, the values used to edit the DefaultSystemSettings.ini and/or DefaultGame.ini file may either need to be changed or reapplied. Therefore, I suggest saving a copy of the edited file to have available should the need arise.

If you enjoy playing Fable Anniversary as I do, I hope you will find this guide useful.

@Something: That is perhaps a better way to describe the issue, and I greatly appreciate your observation! Either way, something about this port triggers dizziness and nausea for some of its players. This guide merely attempts to help the ones who do to, at the very least, minimize such effects and actually enjoy a game we paid for. 🙂

The sensitivity isn't really what causes peoples motion sickness/headaches, it's the fixed camera. It's not a free-floating camera like the game makes you think it is, it's tied to I think your characters eyes. So when your character goes over a bump in the road, or down a slope, etc., etc., your camera moves along with it. The camera needs to both be free-floating, or zoomed out much further than the defaults allow in order to make it tolerable.

@Hessu: No worries, that is always your prerogative... I appreciate you giving this guide a try though.

Good luck and happy holidays!

I tried only changing the camera sensitivity, couldn't be bothered to spend more time with it more (because you shouldn't have to). With a controller its not so bad but still bad enough. Thanks for making this though, i hope it helps someone else more. I have the original game on xbox so i'll just play that one sometime.
