Link a different Activision/COD account to the game

If your Steam account is already linked with an Activision account that you've not been using, and you want to use your primary account instead, follow this guide to link the account and reset the settings in MWII.

Keep in mind that this will wipe all of your settings and progress.

Link a new Activision account with Steam
  1. Make sure that MWII is closed.
  2. Visit https://activision.com
  3. Login to the Activision account that is currently linked with your Steam account.
  4. Navigate to the profile[s.activision.com] page.
  5. Click Unlink button next to Steam, under Gaming Networks list.
  6. Then log out of your account, and log back in to the account you want to link.
  7. Navigate to the profile[s.activision.com] page and click the Link Account button.
  8. Navigate to Call of Duty folder in the Documents folder of your PC (/Users/username/Documents/Call of Duty)
  9. Delete the folder named players.
  10. Reopen MWII and enjoy.

If i play on my account while i wait for support can i still unlink it later after they help with 2fa and link a new account? with a functional cd key or access?

If you no longer have access to the email you had for the account you are linked to you are pretty much out of luck you are locked into using that account forever and can't unlink steam, you can still login with steam but you will never have a way to change the email/account.
