Tips, Tricks, and Walkthrough

After years of playing this game, I've come to know it backwards and forwards pretty well. It's not a hard game or anything, but there's a lot to know and I'm not super satisfied with any particular guide out there so I decided to make one of my own.

Introduction
With over 1,000 hours worth of experience in this game across multiple platforms, I would like to offer my two cents...

This game hints at a lot of what I'm about to tell you, but it isn't super clear either, this is just my opinion on how to play this game.
Early Game
Before you graduate from the Heroes Guild, you should take advantage of a couple things starting off.

1) After your Melee/Ranged/Will tests, you will be given the option of taking a graded test. If you perform well enough (Only one hit from Whisper, and I believe it's 50pts over your initial score on the Ranged test, and like 18+ Will targets or some such) you will be given rewards. Sell the Katana and the Crossbow you're given from those for early game cash.

2) Do the little side quests in there, challenge the guy near Maze's quarters to a race (Run to the Demon Door and back in under 50 seconds, no tricks here just run) and shoot the sparrows. Both of those will give you a little bit more cash right off.

After you've done that and left the Heroes Guild, do the Wasp Queen Quest, I would suggest ONLY using your bow here.

Utilize your bow as much as possible, gain as much experience for it as you possibly can. Utilize your General Experience to increase your Health/Toughness, Multi-Arrow, and Heal spells. Also, as OP suggested, have dodge handy, keep your distance, and fire away.

This will sound backwards to most, but it's a tried and true method for me. Focus on leveling up your Guile skill. It allows you to get the drop on your enemies with ranged attacks, which will allow you to get more attacks in, and on top of that the benefit I really care about is the trading ability.
Trading
This will make or break your experience in this game. The trick here is that you need to do as much trading as possible in bulk. There is an exploit you can use that essentially turns every transaction into a profit. It requires a lot of patience though, as it starts very slowly and you will spend a lot of early game dealing minimal DPS, so farming is key. I would suggest selling off your extra melee weapons, just keep the Longsword you get early on, or trade it for the Steel Pickaxe you can get from the Bandit Pass if you kill all of the bandits in the area, dealer's choice here but I think the Steel Pickaxe is worth a little bit more so I'd sell it.

The Key to Trade Profit
Max out your Guile, at least get level 5 before you try this, and then buy out a store of an item of your choosing. Green Apples/Fish/Red Meat are slow but a good start as there are usually a ton of them at the store compared to other items and you can bulk up on them easily as they're cheap. Head into Bowerstone South, buy the House so you can sleep and trigger vendor deliveries. Before you do any trading you should stop into the Tavern and do a bit of gambling. You can wager up to $1,000g at a time, and the game is fairly easy. Get yourself up to $8-10k ideally. Now buy all of the Green Apples/Fish/Red Meat. Rinse and repeat until you have at least 50 of each. At this point you'll see that you can start turning a profit on them. Once you hit that point, simply sell your entire stock in a single go, and buy it all back in a single go, you'll see that you'll make like 1-3g per GA/F/RM you sell or so. Eventually use this trick to start buying gifts such as perfume, and eventually gems, which is where the real money is at. The higher the base value of something, the more money you'll earn. Health/Will potions are great but the quantity is super limited in Hard Mode.

This will require a lot of patience at first, like I said, but it's one of the most powerful things you can do to set yourself up for success here. Once you've gotten your revenue stream going, you can start farming for Speed/Accuracy increases and really up your damage, or go for Melee if you like, but if you're going to play an archer I would still recommend having at least 4 Health/Toughness in early game, and 6-7(Max) for late game as you do take some good hits. Don't forget that armor in this game doesn't really care what attack style you use, it's really just the defensive stats you will care about. Being able to buy Chainmail prior to running through Darkwood will make that significantly easier, as will having an Ebony Bow (Skorms as soon as you're able, there are entire guides set up for that but the gist is 100 Good at Midnight or 100 Bad at noon on a Saturday [day 6/13/20 etc] for the best chance of getting the bow) and a Master or Obsidian melee weapon will help as well. Obviously you should buy Platemail IMMEDIATELY after you get into Oakvale, and if you save up your money ahead of time you can get Bright and Dark Platemail in the Arena which is one of the only times you can buy these variants in the base game. If you don't buy them here, you might get lucky with a travelling merchant for the chest piece and gauntlets, the leggings and boots can be bought from specific blacksmiths. Knothole Glad for the dark items for sure, I think the bright variant can be bought at the Oakvale Weapons store but I need to verify that.
Melee
--Melee--
If you choose to level Melee I would Strongly recommend the bug that allows you to get the Sword of Aeons basically immediately, as you will actually deal a reasonable amount of damage. I would also put points into Berserk and Multi Strike and use those together to deal massive amounts of Melee Damage.

If you want to play the game as it was intended though, I would recommend putting your effort into getting the Cutlass Bluetane. It's incredibly difficult for newbie players to get, but here's the skinny on how to pretty much guarantee you'll get it.

1) Utilize Physical Shield to avoid taking damage and ruining your Combat Multiplier.
2) Utilize Multi-Strike and Berserk to down your enemies as fast as possible.
3) If you walk out with x16 or higher you'll be in really good shape. Just make sure to keep the pep in your step and deal damage to either the Hobbes or the Troll outside as quickly as possible to avoid losing your multiplier and talk to the door quickly. You need a multiplier of 14 or higher to open the door.

Don't get discouraged if this takes you multiple attempts. Worst case scenario consider it time spent farming, best case scenario you've unlocked the highest DPS weapon in the game that you have access to and it doesn't cost you a dime aside from a bunch of Will Potions.
Skill
--Skill--
If you choose to stick with Bows, here are my tips for that...

1) Ignore crossbows, they're horrendous.
2) Don't forget to augment your bow, and don't be afraid to sell and buy it back if you need to change the augments on it. Look them up online to see what they all do, I like Piercing and Sharpening as they reduce armor and increase damage, solid DPS boost against all enemy types, but Balverines and Undead are weak to Silver for example, and it's absolutely wild how much extra damage you can deal with specific augmentations.
3) Level Speed first as it will also boost your melee skill, general DPS, and allow you to get more hits in between dodges. Accuracy is also important, but it will do you no good at all if you can't draw your bow fast enough to get any hits off.
4) This should go without saying, but get Skorms Bow as early as you possibly can.
Will
1) Don't play this game as a wizard and you won't have a bad time.
2) Utilize Will as a way to augment your other skills, rather than try to blast your enemies away with it completely. Will potions are widely available, but playing Will only is a good way to ensure that you have a bad time before you get to the good parts of the game.

Do it if you want, but Fireball is a waste of exp, level Lightning, Slow Time, maybe do one of the big AOE ones but they dump a ton of Will and are limited in their usefullness. Pick 3 Spells that you want to use regularly and max them out before adding others.
Side Quests and other Parts that are easy to miss Pt 1
While the main story line with a little side tracking is only about 8 hours worth of game play, this game is packed full of content that is pretty easily skipped over, including some aspects that could take MANY plays to even discover due to their timeline specific requirements or your attention to detail.

I'm going to try and fill in those spots for you so you can hopefully play this game to the fullest and experience all of the content in this game - which I wager is around 20 hours.

***This section is borderline a spoiler section, if you want the surprises I don't recommend reading through, although I'll try to minimize the amount of information I give out.***

In no particular order...

The Lookout Point Statue When heading up the hill from the Heroes Guild, you will come to a little crossroad with a statue in the middle of a bunch of benches. Upon inspection you'll notice that it is slowly rotating... in time with your clock! Come back at Noon and Midnight and the statue will be pointing at Greatwood Entrance and Bowerstone South respectively. At noon, you'll want to run into the Greatwood Entrance and turn left into the little clearing with the rubble, a chest will be here that isn't otherwise present. At midnight you'll want to run to Bowerstone South, run around the back of the Tavern, and the Cellar Doors will be unlocked.

Murder with a Twist - Possibly my favorite hidden gem is this little quest. Before you accept the quest to kill Jack of Blades that requires you to drop all of your quests, and after you fight Twinblade, you will have a chance to take on this quest. To start, head to Oakvale, if you did the cheating husband quest in the introduction of the game, you'll recognize this spot. From the house you can buy, head towards the lake, behind the very last house on the right before you can head down the hill, you will find 3 guards. Talk to the one in the middle and be on your way. This quest has a pretty obvious good/bad option to take.

Treasure Clues and the Frying Pan that Might - You may have noticed the achievement for...expressing your feelings through the medium of Frying Pan?? No, this isn't a cooking quest, it's a literal Frying Pan! Clue #5 is pretty hard to miss, so you should have at least some awareness of this quest line from normal gameplay, but I could see this being overlooked because some people don't want to put in the effort of figuring out riddles... In order #1-#6

#1 - Reward from the Bounty Hunter Quest, which you can only do before the "Rescue Scarlet Robe" quest.

#2 - Reward from finishing "The Lost Trader" quest

#3 - Given after defeating the final Assassin (see the following guide)

#4 - Reward for winning the Archery Competition in Knothole Glade (After Break the Siege)

#5 - Found in a chest in the Orchard Farm Zone (Near the Barn)

#6 - Located in a Dig Spot behind the windmill at Windmill Hill

Assassin Attacks - The assassins have different drops, in order. Keep this in mind so you know how many you've got. The drops are not location dependent, they are kill count dependent. in order you'll get; Doll of You, Health Potion, Eyes of a Killer, Gold, and the last drops Gold and a Jet.

1) Witchwood Cullis Gate, near the Focus Sight
2) In Knothole Glade, at the top of the path opposite the Demon Door
3) Windmill Hill, get close to the house at the top of the hill, you'll probably do this accidentally at some point.
4) Prison Path, down by the docks. If you're missing one, start here, this is usually the one that gets missed.
5) Hook Coast, if it wasn't Prison Path, check here as it's a bit off the beaten path a bit. At the highest point of the map is as bell, just walk on the platform and he'll come out of hiding.

The Pan Can be found in Orchard farm, next to the Barn. NOTE: you can dig in this spot at any time in the game and get the pan; however, it will only have stats if you find all of the clues first.

The Sick Child - Basically there is this sick little boy in Bowerstone South, his Mum is hoping for a cure for his ailment from the witch who lives out in Bowerstone Quay. If you talk to her she says she needs 4 Blue Mushrooms to cure him. The locations aren't exactly known, so you'll have to search for them!

1) In the Heroes guild by the Demon Door are some Ripples, fish here for the first
2) In the Guild Woods is a man, a man with a note. Deliver his note to the gal in Oakvale standing near the Well to the East and help him find true love for your second.
3) Head on over to the Picnic Area where you'll find a girl who is rather upset...that the mushroom she ate didn't make her all giggly. Tell her a laugh and do a little dance for her until she finds some giggles and gives you a third mushroom.
4) Finally head over to Barrow Fields, outside of Oakvale and find the trader standing directly north of the Oakvale entrance on the hill near the water. His is standing out in the open on a table. He'll sell it, or you can steal it for free!

Once you've obtained the mushrooms, simply talk to the Witch again, deliver the potion to the Mum, and you're all done.
Silver Keys Pt. 1
For the uninitiated, Silver Keys are used to unlock Silver Chests, that reward the player with unique weapons, Elixirs that buff your health and will, various augmentations, one awards an assortment of gems AND a unique weapon, and my personal favorite, Archon's Battle Armour - The most powerful armor in the game.

They are scattered all over Albion, some more hidden than others, and finding them all is a requirement for one of the 50 Achievements in the game.

**NOTE** There is a Demon Door located in the Necropolis (very late game) that will require ALL of your Silver Keys in order to open. The door isn't telling you that you have to have keys in order to open it, it's telling you that you have to GIVE your keys to the door in order to open it. So you have two options if you want to open all of the Silver Chests

1) If you don't care about having keys after opening the door, you must find all Silver Keys and open all of the Silver Chests before opening this Demon Door

or

2) You must bypass all of the Silver Keys and Silver Chests through the game until that point, and open the Demon Door when you have ZERO keys. The door will open regardless of how many you have or don't have, and has special dialogue if you open it with no keys. Then you have to go back and find all of the keys and open the chests.

Without further ado, I don't think you came here to listen to me prattle on, you came because you're looking for those sweet sweet Silver Keys, so here's the guide! These will be in order of when you can first obtain them.

1) Lookout Point - Heading out of the Heroes Guild in the circle with the rotating statue (interact with it at noon and midnight!!) you'll see some brambles to your left, simply hack away at them and walk down the path to claim your key.

2) Bowerstone South - As soon as you walk in the main gates, there is an armor shop on your left. Head on inside, browse some wares, and then make your way upstairs. You'll find this key out on the deck floating in the corner. Before you barge right in though, hang a right and ask the vendor dude if he's got a shovel for sale, you'll need one later

3) Fisher Creek - from the Greatwood Entrance, hug the right wall and go through the archway, if this is your first time here there will be a swarm of wasps outside of the fisherman's house. Slaughter the swarm of wasps, and he'll give you a free fishing rod! Head around to the backside of the house next to the plain chest, dip your rod in the second ripples from the right to find it.

4) Guild Woods - If you played with Whisper during your guild training rather than proceeding onto the next day, you will recall the stream that you shot some bandits across. In that little stream are some ripples, be sure to bring a fishing rod!

5) Orchard Farm - You can get this one anytime after you get a fishing rod, but if efficiency is your thing, I'd wait until you get the Hobbe Killing Contest quest as it takes place within a few feet of this one. All the way East, across the bridge, and out on the dock, there are some ripples in the water. By now I think you know what to do.

6) Rose Cottage - You'll need a shovel for this one, so if you don't have one make sure to grab one from a general store somewhere. For the sake of efficiency here, I would recommend waiting to get this one and the Hobbe Cave one until you get the Hobbe Cave quest as it will take you to both of these places, and is a requirement for the latter. **Go ahead and make your way up the path towards the cottage, if you see a cooking pot over a fire, you're in luck! There's a ring of flowers nearby, stand anywhere inside that ring and dig away.**

7) Hobbe Caves - This one is pretty easy to miss unless you're looking for it. During the Hobbe Cave quest you will enter a massive chamber at the very end of the cave system, fight a fairy and a handful of hobbes to rescue the boy Walk to the back of the chamber, you'll find a circle of red mushrooms, just like the Rose Cottage, dig anywhere inside of it to find this key.

8) Darkwood Lake - This is quite possibly the most well hidden key of them all. To find this one, you must enter the zone and head towards the southern end. There will be a stone obelisk with a hole cut out of the top. You must fire an arrow through the hole to get this one. Alternatively, if you have Level 3+ Enflame you can also get the key by using it next to the obelisk.

9) Ancient Cullis Gate - Just another key that somebody carelessly lost in the water, just head on down to the bridge, face North (right) and do yo thang chicken wang

10) Grey House - The first time you get to Barrow Fields just might be during the Trader Escort quest, if this is true then head down to the bridge, turn in your quest, and turn right back around. Saunter into the evil looking archway to the run down Grey House. Follow the path up to the home, turn left to go back down the hill towards the Demon Door (Marry Lady Grey to open up this bad boy) and fish in the ripples on your left.

11) Memorial Garden - **a word of caution about this one. If you want to do the Treasure of the Ghost Pirate Quest (Bronze) you will need to complete this before you dig up the key as the developers decided to drop the silver key and the pirate's booty in the same location, and you retrieve both at the same time. There is an Obsidian Greathammer here if you are a strength build and haven't the cash to buy something better.** So do the quest and then get the key or scrap the quest, it doesn't really matter, all that is lost is some gold, a little renown, and some good points. Yippee. Anyway, in the middle of the Memorial Garden is a statue of none other than your mom, wielding a Greataxe, dig under the axe head and you'll get your key.

12) Twinblade's Camp - In the first camp, not the Elite Camp, there's a little area that looks like a makeshift tavern/bar with a guy you can gamble with, just passed the guy you can buy from/kill for the elite pass, go all the way into the corner of the zone, there will be a chest and a ring of flowers. I bet you can guess where the key is...

13) Witchwood Stones - During your first quest here to find the Archaeologist, you interact with the Demon Door. In the little pond just outside of said Demon Door are some ripples, have you gone back and gotten the Master Fishing Rod from the fisherman yet?

14) Witchwood Lake - Guess where this one is! I bet you would have never guessed it's the one glowing red statue with a dig spot underneath it.

15) Knothole Glade - My favorite zone, and home to the 15th key! Up the hill and just south of the house you can buy and between two houses you'll find a ring of ferns. You know the drill! If you are having trouble finding it, start at the tavern and work up the left side, walk all the way down and you'll come across it.

16) Bowerstone Manor - Remember that Demon Door at Grey House I was talking about earlier, well apparently that Demon Door isn't the only reason to marry Lady Grey! For this key you'll have to go through the process of either marrying or exposing Lady Grey before you can enter the manor and search the bed for this key. You can expose her as well if you don't want the baddest wife in Albion, but then you don't get to access the Demon Door in Grey House and miss out on 100%

17-18) Windmill Hill - There are two keys in this one, I'll save you the flair to keep it simple.
The first key is buried in a ring of flowers near the cottage and next to a scarecrow.
The second key is buried in another ring of flowers to the left and behind the big windmill.
Silver Keys Pt. 2
19) Headsman's Hill - There are two ways to access this key, one is legit, one is through a glitch. If you go through with marrying Lady Grey, you will have to fight Thunder, he's not so bad, Berserk+Multistrike is a very potent combo, or you could use Slow Time+Multistrike, or Multi-Arrow, whatever works for you, but he's slightly annoying to fight if you don't have something that breaks through blocks. During the fight he'll knock you off a cliff, in the little pond there are some ripples that contain the key, inside of the cave you will also find a Silver Chest. To glitch down there, you simply stand on the left side of the chest at the top of that cliff in Headsman's Hill, teleport away, recall, and you should pop back at the bottom of the cliff. Rinse and repeat if you don't get it on the first go.

20-23) Lychfield Graveyard - Three in this zone, be extra careful here if you're going the zero key route.
The first Silver key is buried in the grave of Mary Sutter, near the southern crypt (in the middle of Mary and Deacon Sutters' graves), found in the western area of the Lychfield Graveyard map.
The second Silver key is in Scoran Daith's sarcophagus in one of the crypts (to the left of the Sutter family).
The third key is located in the ripples in the water found in the middle of the map, just east of Scoran Daith's sarcophagus.

24) The Cliffside Path - Heading towards the prison, take the northern route, swing a left into the cutout, open the chest and dig in the ring of mushrooms to find this key.

25) Hook Coast - Pretty simple, during your fight with maze, when you enter the lighthouse search the cabinets on the ground level.

This is the end of the non-DLC keys, if for some reason you are playing on the original version of the game you won't have access to the next 5.

26) Bowerstone South - Donate 25 books to the school during the Book Collection quest. It's a real pain, I will probably make a separate guide for this one but basically search every bookshelf and buy every book from every vendor through the game and you should be just fine.

27) Fisher Creek - Place 2nd of higher in the Fishing Competition

28) Oakvale - Win the Chicken Kicking Competition with a score between greater than or equal to 150 and less than 250.

29) The Lost Bay - Get off the boat, hang a right along the shore, swing by the grave and dig baby dig

30) The Necropolis - Head on over to the Demon Door I mentioned at the beginning of this guide, before turning left to go see him, stop at the broken bridge and fish in the river.

There you have it! All of the Silver Keys in Fable TLC/Anniversary
Demon Doors
I will be writing this section in the order of my perception of difficulty, starting out with the easiest doors and ending on the hardest ones. Everyone plays this game a little bit differently so feel free to open these in whichever order makes sense for your playthrough.

1) The Library Arcanum - Located in the Heroes Guild, this one is super simple and you can access it very early in the game. All you need is a lamp, simply walk up to the door, turn your lamp on, and it'll open right up for you. Inside you will find Making Friends, Book of Spells, Howl Tattoo, and an Elixir of Life (Permanent Health Bar Increase)

2) The Old Kingdom Spring - All you need is some good ole Red Meat. Eat until you're obese and talk to the Demon Door. It doesn't take too many, I believe it's about 15 max, depending on how much food you eat already.

3) The Secret Haven - A Red Rose, A Box of Chocolates, a Wedding Ring, basically any type of gift will work on this door in my experience. He just wants to feel loved, simply gift one of these items to the door and it'll open for you, rewarding you with a 4/5 set Will User's Bright Outfit.

4) The Arboretum - This door will require you to "perform an act of great evil in my sight" In the original game you would have to talk to the door initially to open his eyes, in other versions you simply need to walk up to it. You can either eat 11 Crunchy Chicks, or be 100% Evil to open this door. Once you're inside, you are rewarded with Wellow's Pickhammer. Decent, but there are better weapons out there.

5) The Desolate Abbey - This door is hidden around the back of the Darkwood Bodello. Simply have sex 10 times and he'll swing open wider than yer mom's legs and reward you with a sweet sweet Pimp Hat

6) Witchwood Cavern - Located in Witchwood Stones, this is one of 3 doors you are required to open during the main story quests. You can talk to the door or skip it if you don't want, all you have to do is run through the zone to the four obelisks, interact with them to find out which letter goes where and hit them in order to spell "HITS", which is the Door's name. Alternatively you can spell "S-H-I-T" and get attacked by two Balverines, doing so will not prevent you from opening the door. This one is pretty cool as it rewards you with a Health Augmentation, Chainmail Leggings, Gems, and a few books.

7) The Hidden Copse - Located in Knothole Glade this one is pretty simply to open, either a Master+Longbow at full charge, or any bow with Multi-Arrow, or a Level 3 Fireball will open it...I guess...The reward is alright, another Elixir of Life.

8) Darkwood Sanctum - This door isn't too hard to open, although it does require actual combat. Talk to the door and accept his challenge, you'll have to face 5 waves of Hobbes of increasing levels of difficulty. If this is your first time playing I would recommend skipping it initially and coming back when you have spent a bit of experience and gathered a little bit better than the starting equipment. Your reward for facing swarms of Hobbes is a 4/5 Will User's Dark Outfit

9) The Bitter Shrine - Located on the Abandoned Road, just before the archway to Twinblade's Camp and on your left, this door will make a comment about his dimming eyesight and missing his friends. All you need to do is cosplay as his missing friends and he'll let you in. Equip, in this order, the Bright Plate Outfit (Only obtainable during The Arena quest, have about 50k ready) then the Will User's Dark Outfit from the previous door, and finally the Bandit Outfit. Be sure to talk to him between changes. This door contains the Dollmaster's Mace, it's pretty good for the time you first encounter the door, but by the time you can open it you should already have better equipment.

10) Gibbet Woods - Located on Headsman's Hill, an opened during your fight with Thunder should you decide to marry Lady Grey. You can glitch into here as mentioned in the Silver Key guide if you just want the door, but you have to duel Thunder in order for the door to open. Your rewards are a Silver Key and a Mana Augmentation

11) The Lost Garden - Not necessarily difficult on its own, but you have to open another Demon Door that requires fighting Thunder to access this one so I've put it in this order. Meh. Ronok the Axe is your reward for opening this door, it's pretty good.

12) Old Graveyard Pass - on its own this isn't very challenging, it's the second Door you are required to open for story progression. Simply find all of Nostro's equipment, give em back, and he'll open. Getting here is the real problem as you have to complete over half of the original game to get to this point and fight hordes of undead/put up with the rancid grave keeper.

13) Prophet's Chamber - This one is only hard because you need to fight Jack of Blades to get to this part of the campaign and once you're in you have to do a series of moderately annoying puzzles to get back out.

I am really torn between these last two Doors, in my head they are tied for difficulty because of the sheer amount of effort you have to put into the Bleached Bone Island Door.

14) Bleached Bone Island - The terms are straightforward with this one, he wants ALL of your Silver Keys. You can either skip them all until you get to this point and then go back and retrieve them or collect all of them and open all of the Silver Chests and then surrender your keys. Either way it's a pain.

15) The Butterfly House - While I consider this to be the most challenging door to open, I would highly recommend opening it as soon as possible unless you use the Sword of Aeons glitch. The door will only open it if you approach it with an active combat multiplier of 14 or higher. Physical Shield will help you to avoid taking damage and getting interrupted. The strategy is to run all the way to the back of the first area in the Hobbe Cave, aggro all of the Hobbes then fight them near the entrance. When you're done, immediately run out and fight the troll. If you do it quickly enough you should have just enough time to talk to the Demon Door before your multiplier goes away. Your effort is greatly rewarded though with the Cutlass Bluetane - the most powerful melee weapon in the game until the Sword of Aeons.

There you have it, all of the Demon Doors. This is my opinion of difficulty for new players, your opinion may vary and that's totally cool with me.

Books, because Book Collection Quest
This quest is a tad bit annoying, but you have to in order to unlock all of the Silver Keys so here you go. I have no love for this quest so I have decided to put zero flavor in this section.

In addition to the Silver Key, you will also receive EITHER a Bright or a Dark Wizard Hat after you've donated your ninth book based on which books you donate. The game will automatically choose GOOD BOOKS first, so if you want the Dark hat you must go out of your way to collect the evil books first.

General Tips
--General Tips--
-Do the Side Quests, you'll gain experience and money pretty quickly.
-Kill Whisper, she's a show off during the entire game and literally will never learn.
-Open the Demon Door in the Guild as early as is convenient, some potions or some such are in there and all you have to do is shine your lamp at it.
-Focus as much or more on avoiding damage compared to dealing damage in Hard
-Certain spells are incredibly powerful when combined with other spells, like Multi-Strike and Berserk.
-This game rewards you greatly for the extremes, choose an alignment and stick to it, Max a skill before you move onto the next one (particularly for Will)
-Stop and buy Health/Will potions every single time you can, they're meant to be used and they're plentiful enough even in Hard mode.
-Resurrection Phials are common enough and you can buy them periodically. Don't carry more than 3 or 4 at a time, as you can make a lot of money early on by selling them, and if you die more than 3 times in a spot you should just reload and farm some more exp/gear and try again anyway.

-SPOILER- When you fight the Kraken, Multi-Arrow is super useful, same goes for the Scorpion boss in the Arena
-End Spoiler-
End
Anyway, that's it for now. If you're playing this game and having a hard time with anything, feel free to reach out and I'll help you if I can!
Weapons and Augmentations
In this section I'm going to go over the various types of weapons you can obtain throughout the game, both the generic weapons and the legendary weapons.

Basic Weapons

In general, I would divide the basic melee weapons into two categories; Light or Heavy.

Light Weapons include; Cleavers, Axes, Katanas, Swords, and Maces. These have a higher attack speed, but deal less damage overall. Long Swords seem to have a longer attack radius as well. I wouldn't put a lot of stock into choosing between these weapons as they're all mostly the same. Just pick one you like the most and use the best version of it you can afford.

Heavy Weapons include; Greathammers, Greataxes, Greatswords, and Greatmaces. They have a slower attack speed, but hit for much more damage. If you're going for a strength build I would recommend investing in Heavy Weapons, with 2 spells to augment your damage; Multi Strike and Berserk. Berserk will buff your damage and allow you to swing Heavy Weapons at the same speed as Light Weapons, and will also knock over enemies with every single swing. Like Light Weapons, this is pretty much just buy whichever one you like the most or deals the most damage you can afford, just don't buy one until you have a Strength of AT LEAST 3 because your character will not be able to swing it effectively and deal reduced damage.

In my personal opinion, it is best to use Swords, either Long or Great variants. I find them to be the most balanced with a consistent attack radius.

Ranged Weapons

Bows and Crossbows, there really isn't much variation here. Crossbows deal a little bit more damage than the same tier Longbow, but I really prefer using bows. Once you're over level 5/6 in your speed and accuracy skills, the slight difference in damage on paper really doesn't make a practical difference in damage dealt, but Crossbows are so clunky to use, must be reloaded, are not more accurate...they're just not good enough to warrant the slight bump in damage in my opinion.

Augmentations

You can also Augment weapons in this game with items called, you guessed it, Augmentations. There are many different types of augmentations, and you should augment your weapon based on what you think you'll be fighting next. There are 5 types of base Augmentations, as well as Health, Experience, and Mana. You will notice that Sharpening is effective against all types, which is because it affects the amount of base damage your weapon will deal. I also like Piercing Augmentations, as they reduce the effectiveness of enemy armor, and Silver as the weapons that are weak to Silver are typically pretty darn strong and it really makes those White Balverines go down smoothly.

1. Fire
2. Lightning
3. Piercing
4. Sharpening
5. Silver

Balverines: Sharpening, Silver
Bandits: Sharpening
Beetles: Piercing, Sharpening
Dragon: Piercing, Sharpening
Hobbes: Fire, Lightning, Sharpening
Minions: Piercing, Sharpening
Nymphs: Fire, Lightning, Sharpening
Scorpions: Piercing, Sharpening
Screamers: All are good
Trolls, Earth: Lightning, Piercing, Sharpening
Trolls, Ice: Fire, Piercing, Sharpening
Trolls, Rock: Piercing, Sharpening
Undeads/Zombies: Sharpening, Silver
Wasps: Lightning, Sharpening
Wraiths: Flame, Sharpening, Silver

An unfortunate flaw of this game, in my opinion, is that you are only allowed to own one of each weapon in the game. I don't know why this is a thing, but because of this limitation, you are only able to augment each weapon a single way. You can of course sell the weapon and buy a blank one, but you cannot remove augmentations, and you can't have 2 of the same weapon and swap them back and forth. Money making is pretty broken though so you shouldn't have any issues buying all of the Master weapon variants and augmenting them how you please. Although you'll likely have a Legendary weapon or 4 by that time anyway.

The Cutlass Blutane is weaker than the Harbinger, Ronok the Axe, and the Katana Hiryu. You can also get it with the old "hold down the bow attack for 5 minutes then shoot the troll" trick. Enflame is an extremely useful spell. And leveling one skill before moving to the next is terrible advice; the costs skyrocket, so waiting to grind out like 40k to get the last level of lightning before grabbing the first level of physical shield, for an example, is probably why you find playing a mage so frustrating. And honestly, augments aren't really that great--you are generally better off just getting a stronger weapon, as the damage boosts aren't that high. Silver gives a 50% boost against balverines, though, so that might be the exception if you're struggling.

Прочитал про то что Магия отстой, дальше читать желания не было. Челу тупо не понравилась магия или он её не понял и написал своё субъективное мнение как истину. Думаю в остальных аспектах мало информативности...

@LGB - Frank

I believe they patched it on Heroic but left it on Normal. Still works, I do it all the time.

If someone wants though I'll upload a video playthrough of my going step by step through the process of getting that exploit to work. It'll be in long form though as I don't have video editing skills to make cool jumps and transitions.

@Redzone, that method is ridiculously slow compared to the trading exploit. @Frank, I use that method on every playthrough so it's possible you are either not leveling the guile skill enough, or else you're not trading a high enough quantity of items for the exploit to really be effective. I think their intention with this skill was that the players would get better prices on the stuff they picked up and would be able to get better prices on the stuff they wanted to buy, not that we would abuse the system to make infinite money.

infinte money,
buy a house put a trophie in it, break the door, sell the house, take your trophie out, then rebuy the house, put the trohie inside, break the door, sell the house rinse repeat

Everything here is useful, but it seems they patched the trading thing so you can't abuse it anymore.
