Introduction
Hello everyone, you might ask me "but why?" This guide is just an option for those who want to roll back, because of their reasons with the new update.
U5 vs U6
Here are some side by side interactive comparisons I've made with old build v0.5.2.0 vs v0.6.1.3
Note: If steam doesn't redirect, click the link again or try refreshing the page. Graphical settings at maxed out Ultra settings with default ini config.

Adjusting gamma, monitor or experimenting with Nvidia filters did not help since it is an inherent imbalance of colors in the game. I will probably add more to this list soon comparing scenes at different time of day and new locations.
FAQs
Please read before proceeding!

Q.) Who even wants to rollback because of some graphics change?
A: I've seen comments and questions in steam forums, Reddit and official QA site that are in the minority, they (including me) did not like the changes in the update and stopped playing altogether.

Q.) It doesn't seem that bad and it might be fixed soon?
A: Personally I don't like the new lighting/biome tone changes and it hurts my eyes the more I play. About fixing this imo, no, not anytime soon. I've seen this issue[questions.satisfactorygame.com] open 6 months ago when Update 6 was still in experimental branch and despite the feedback it made it into early access. So far I haven't heard of any plans to change the lighting in Update 7 as well.

Q.) What exactly is the version of the build I'm rolling back to?
A: You will be downloading a v0.5.2.1 build via steam, the last build for Update 5 according to version history.

Q.) Will I get banned by steam for doing this?
A: No.

Q.) Will my saved files work with this?
A: Update 6 saves: No.
Update 5 saves: Yes I'm currently using U5 saves. Something might break though.

Q.) What about crashes? How does it play?
A: There might be rare crashes either while launching/exiting the game which doesn't really hamper your experience but personally I haven't encountered any crashes mid-game in my 70 hrs of testing.

Q.) Will online coop work?
A: Using in-game invite? No. There might be a way with 3rd party tools or Server Manager but I haven't tested it yet.

Q.) Anything else I should know?
A:
  • Understand that you will be missing bug fixes and the new features from Update 6 and up
  • Mod Manager does NOT seem to work with this build, maybe there's a workaround
  • Saved files from this build can be used with Update 6 later on
Steps
Open this guide in a browser since you will be working on steam console, it will be easier referring between the two.

1. Copy this line:
steam://nav/console
and paste it in your browser, allow popup if you get any. This will open up steam console in your steam client.

2. Copy this line:
download_depot 526870 526871 4647665537463864301
and paste it in the steam console you opened. This will start downloading the v0.5.2.1 build.

3. It may take a while as it depends on your connection. Once it finished downloading it will notify you where it is stored. Example:
Downloading depot 526871 (5932 MB) ... Depot download complete : "D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_526870\depot_526871" (668 files, manifest 4647665537463864301)

4. Keep this copy somewhere safe and name the folder as Update 5 or U5

5. Download Satisfactory normally from your steam library (ignore this step if already installed!)

6. Navigate to where it is stored. Usually:
X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Satisfactory\ OR X:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Satisfactory\
Or you could right click game in steam -> Properties -> Local Files -> Browse and then close steam.

Copy everything here to a safe location, name the folder as Update 6 or U6 for safe keeping. This step is only to revert back just in case you screw up something and prevent downloading again.

7. After copying, delete everything inside the Satisfactory folder and copy paste everything from Update 5 folder to here.

Note: From what I have seen, the minor updates that get released frequently doesn't affect the game at all and you can play as usual. If you are having problems after some major update then repeat the process again from the backups you made earlier.

8. Navigate to:
C:\Users\<Your Account>\AppData\Local\FactoryGame\Saved\
and delete everything except for SaveGames and SaveGames_backup folder

Launch the game via steam and enjoy.

Credits goes to this Reddit post. This method can be used for other games as well.
.ini Config
My .ini quality tweaks if anybody wants. Paste these lines at the bottom of Engine.ini found at:
C:\Users\<Your Account>\AppData\Local\FactoryGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Engine.ini

Note: These lines WILL SEVERELY AFFECT your performance. All of these should be only used if you have fps to spare and want to go beyond Ultra settings. You could test some out with different values in-game using console (~) just to see the difference in picture quality and fps hit. Make sure to set the file to 'Read Only' after you are done making changes to make it permanent.

[/script/engine.rendereroverridesettings] r.CreateShadersOnLoad=1 r.Streaming.FullyLoadUsedTextures=1 r.bForceCPUAccessToGPUSkinVerts=1 r.Tonemapper.Quality=0 # removes Vignette effect r.ViewDistanceScale=14 # 5 = optimal, 14 = max r.Shadow.MinResolution=256 r.Shadow.DistanceScale=10 # no difference above 5? foliage.LODDistanceScale=5 # 11 = max foliage.DitheredLOD=5 r.MaxAnisotropy=16 r.landscapelodbias=-3 # doesn't seem to work? grass.densityscale=1.5 # 2 = double grass r.SkeletalMeshLODBias=-3 r.SkeletalMeshLODRadiusScale=0.75 r.StaticMeshLODDistanceScale=0.01 # 0 produces artifacts r.Streaming.Boost=1 r.MaterialQualityLevel=1 # 3 = high, 0 = low r.DetailMode=1 # 2 = high, 0 = low r.AmbientOcclusionLevels=4 r.Streaming.MipBias=0 r.MipMapLodBias=0 # -5 for great details but foundations will make Moire pattern r.TemporalAACurrentFrameWeight=0.1 # 0 = smooth/blurry/ghosting, 1 = crisp/shimmering r.ScreenPercentage=120 # 120% render resolution, 200 = double res t.MaxFPS=80 # fps cap at 80 Gamma=2.0 # a mod keeps messing with this

Here's an interactive comparison[cdn.knightlab.com]

Additionally, I also use Nvidia sharpen filter to bring back those details affected by TAA, you could also use r.Tonemapper.Sharpen but I prefer this since it has more control over the setting
Conclusion
That should be everything, I will update the guide on how to get the mods/coop working if I can find a way. Feel free to drop any comments or questions that you have. If you feel like I helped you then don't forget to Rate up and Favorite

yes you can from steamdb [steamdb.info]

Yeah, The way this is it it makes me think that somewhere there may be even older builds archived in some sort of databse, Which if we have the right technique we could possibly access far back

you mean downgrading to even older build?

Can we perhaps do the same thing with even older versions? This sounds like a viable step
