Getting Started
This guide assumes the following:
  • you're on a Windows computer
  • you have Bowling Hills installed (not running)
  • you own a Nintendo Switch Joy-Con
NOTE: the game is currently having issues supporting Joy-Cons while Steam Input is enabled. As of now, you'll need to disable by right clicking Bowling Hills in your library, then go to Properties > Controller and select "Disable Steam Input" in the drop-down.
Connecting the Joy-Con via Bluetooth
Open Windows settings and search for the "Bluetooth" menu

Next press and hold the pairing button on the side of the Joy-Con until the four green lights start flashing back and forth

Back in the bluetooth menu, make sure bluetooth is "On", then add a bluetooth device

Select "Bluetooth" for the kind of device to add

Select your Joy-Con in the list of devices
It should be named "Joy-Con" followed by "(L)" or "(R)" depending on whether you have a left or right Joy-Con (either one will work):

Your Joy-Con is now connected!
Using the Joy-Con In-Game
If Bowling Hills was running before connecting the Joy-Con, close and restart the game before proceeding

Menu Navigation
All game menus can be navigated with the Joy-Con. Use the joystick to move the selected menu item and the right Joy-Con button to make selections.

Switching Between Mouse & Keyboard and Joy-Con
The game will automatically switch between Mouse & Keyboard and Joy-Con input depending on what was last used. If a Joy-Con isn't available, Mouse & Keyboard is the default.

Gameplay
Gameplay with Joy-Con input works very similarly to the mouse:
  • instead of the left mouse button, use ZL or ZR (bottom trigger)
  • instead of moving the mouse up and down to swing the character's arm, swing your arm back and forth in real life to control the character's arm
  • instead of moving the mouse left or right to add ball spin, twist and move the Joy-Con to the left or right
Troubleshooting
My Joy-Con is paired but it stopped working in Bowling Hills
Joy-Cons seem to have trouble reconnecting after the connection is interrupted. This is a Joy-Con + Windows compatibility issue, not a Bowling Hills issue. The best way to fix this is to completely remove the Joy-Con in the Windows bluetooth menu and go through the pairing process again.
