Basics
Hey guys! Thought I'd give you some tips on how to mod items in Black Ice. Basically, what you'll be doing is downloading some csv files, editing them, and placing them in a Mods folder in your install directory. I suggest using Excel to edit the csv files, but any text editor will work.

Want to change the kind of items that drop, or just modify how they scale with item level? Want to change how even the affixes on items scale? Think you can do better than me? I dare you!

Internally, I use these same .csv files to balance the game. The modding menu simply lets you load in your own .csvs instead of the ones I made.

Note that this is a local-only change. You can still host a multiplayer game while using mods, they will not affect anyone else, since everyone gets their own loot. However, you can transfer modded items in multiplayer games by dropping them for someone else to pickup.

One of my favorite youtubers, TRSCP, created a pretty awesome guide a while back. The files he's editing are outdated, but the method is the same.

Important note! Even if you are doing crazy stuff, don't use any values above about 2,000,000, even when directly hacking saves. This can cause the game to crash.

This is a little outdated but almost all of the columns explained here are also in the new version.

Look in your mods folder (path above) and find the base csvs. They have instructions on how to edit.

I’ll be updating this later, but for more details, please join the modding channel on the discord - http://discord.gg/Black-Ice

Do these still work?

no, the links work fine, I was just saying that they have outdated data in them.
thanks for clarifying the spawned items! :happypirate:

The thing about the save editing is that you can do things with hacking in there that doesn't work for multiplayer, because the configuration doesn't get sent over the network in multiplayer. The modding system does work for network stuff, that's why it's a little more limited.

Which links aren't working for you? They look fine to me, you can go directly to the source folder to see all of them, just remove the filename from the end of the link

I really like the save editing system, but is there a way to do something similar to the detail possible for save editing, but for spawnable items?

(P.S. it would be really cool if you could update those links again! some items aren't in there.)

To modify your previously collected items, you can edit them directly in the .save file. Note: This will mark your character as a cheater, which disables achievements on that character!

There's a great .save hacking guide in the discord, you should come check it out - http://discord.gg/black-ice

I just wanted to say this is a great guide!
I'm just wondering if this updates previously collected item or not, and also wondering if there is a way to mod the choice cube. :webcrawler:

Which file did you edit, and what did you add? For uniques, you have to make sure you use an existing key for it to show up (also, uniques don't spawn in shops). For non-unique items, it should work - IF the shop is the right type.

You can use the cheat (WHICH MARKS YOU AS A CHEATER disabling achievements) BI_REROLLSHOPS to shuffle the inventory

I believe you need to open it in openoffice Spreadsheet, not calc? I'm not very familiar with those tools.

You can also just use any text editor.
