Various builds in the "betas" tab

Legends may remember when builds were passworded, or various others like "owf stanging prep". From retail, april fools, to current. They have changed a lot and might prove confusing to some. I hope to make a write up/video on the in-depth history and struggles of this game. But for now here are the current options

None/Default
This is sometimes the best version to play and I would recommend this if you are unsure. It can be a little out of date and feel updated less frequently, but you get less bugs and still see the overall improvements. Go for it!!

2018_retail - 2018 Retail Build
This is not the day 1 release but the patched 2018 retail build. This is if you want to see content that was later cut in newer builds. It's admittedly pretty bad but worth a try if you are really into HDTF or speedrunning. Check Terrors youtube WR for new tricks too. Pretty buggy and painful if you don't enjoy some struggle

2022_april_fools_update - 2022 April Fools Update
It's the april fools update! To the best of my knowledge the team was far smaller back then still was transitioning out of a 1-2 man project. As time moves on it will be more different from the evolving Default and the old hilarious Retail build. Kinda fun as is but I would recommend only if you are a hdtf big fan

owf_development_build - OWF Development Nightly- Weekly Build
The latest and greatest from Operation Whiskey Freedom, a ragtag group of madlads who deserve all your support. In their updated vision for HDTF so bugs are to be potentially expected as they test things out. All things said, theres a lot of cool people doing cool work

Coming back just to say that I still currently wouldn't really recommend the current dev build, just because it hasn't been updated in a pretty long time, and has several major gamebreaking issues with it.

Also the current most up to date build is the Staging_Prep build, which like I said is currently not in the best state.

idk when the betas changed but the "owf staging prep" would be the go-to beta version if you want to see what the devs have been cooking up without wanting to be a Patreon supporter. It gets updates later than the dev build but it's probably less buggy as well.

the "owf development build" is now a dev and patrons only beta of the game and gets updated weekly.

I think the default build is currently the best for experiencing the game as of now.

The dev build just has to many visual bugs, and too little new content to make it worth using over the current dev build
