Immortal Life was still in Early Access during the creation of this guide, so some game mechanics may change with future versions.

As the text in the game is gradually translated from Chinese to English, some of the dialogs in the screenshots used here have been translated by me (with the help of an an online translation program) for clarification.
For that reason the dialogs in the screenshots of this guide can deviate from the final, official translation.

The version this guide is based on is the Alpha Branch Update 0.5.10 to 0.8.xx and is currently being updated to 1.0.xx.

The developers will release any content-updates in the Alpha Branch first for open testing.

How to join the Alpha version (copied from Development update):

(Making a backup copy of your savegame first, is recommended.)

1. Right-click Immortal Life in your Steam Library.
2. Choose Properties…
3. Choose BETAS tab in the Properties menu.
4. Enter the code, zhongtian2022 and click Check Code.
5. Click the select button and choose alpha – alpha test to activate the new branch.
6. You want to switch back? No problem, click the drop-down menu again and choose none – it will take you back to the Default branch.

As the controls of the game can be customized to a certain degree, this guide will refer to the keyboard default setting.

You can always check the current key settings by accessing the Options menu with ‘Esc’.

(I personally found navigating easier after switching the Action-key ‘E’ for the ‘left mouse button’.)

The options menu also has an 'unstuck' button, in case your character gets accidentally trapped somewhere.

In case you run into an unknown Bug, try to validate your game files first - maybe a file didn't download properly during the last update.

Go into your Steam library and click right on the game title to open a menu and pick 'properties' from there. Next check the 'local data' and check the files for errors.
If the issue originates from there, the corrupted files will be automatically replaced.
(Btw. this works the same for any Steam game.)

The year has the usual 4 seasons but every season has only 18 days. The seasons are separated into 6 solar terms which are 3 days long each: 'Initial' day, 'Middle' day, 'End' day.
Birthdays of fellow sect members and festival days are noted in the calender and get a reminder on midnight/daybreak.

After every solar term scavenge-able items and mana clusters are replenished.
The change of season will refresh the quests on the Quest board in town, change some of the scavenge-able items and influence which fish can be caught. The yield of harvested crops may change with the seasons as well.

Note that the weather, seasons, solar terms and days change at midnight but the plants grow and the soil dries up at 7am in the morning.

A day in the game has 24 hours and the Main Character can stay awake as long as they want. However depending on how long and well they sleep HP, MP and Stamnia can be recovered (see more in the chapter ‘Your Residence’).

After sleeping the MC will wake up at 7am the next morning and the game will automatically be saved.

The game can also be saved manually at the Startrack-crystals.
And after you built your warehouse, you can access it from the Startrack-crystals as well.
Last but not least a 'Teleport between Start Track crystals' function was added with a recent update.
Use this for fast travel between important locations on the map.

One such crystal can be found in the Misty Valley near the Cave entrance, the other one is in front of the Reconstruction HQ in the Sect Area.

Once the Reconstruction HQ is open, you can build a few more Startrack-crystal savepoints in different locations.

.

You can access your savegames from the Main Menu by either using "Continue" or "Load".

- If you use "Continue" your game will start at the last moment you saved.

- "Load" will first send you to the profiles of up to 5 different characters you have created.
.
After choosing one you are given a list of available savegames.
.
If you encounter an issue with your last savegame, you can try to load an older backup file here.


Aside from sleeping, you can recover MP by consuming mana elixirs, cold potions or lotus leaf dew, consuming some scavenge-able herbs etc. but there are easier methods.
You can absorb mana clusters, which are found floating as a blue cloud all around the Misty valley, the Sunset Forest or the Sect Grounds.

.

Once you have rebuilt the Misty valley Terrace you can meditate there and recover 6MP every hour. If you see a floating 'WASD' letter appear during meditation, hit the corresponding key for an extra boost in mana recovery. You can interrupt meditation any time you have gathered enough mana but the time runs faster.

Stamnia can be easiest recovered by consuming food. You can either pick a meal from the menu of the inn and eat it directly at a table, cook something at the rented inn kitchen (or the rebuilt sect kitchen) or buy something to go at a market stall or buy it from Mrs. Ye at the reception of the inn.

Aside from sleeping, HP can so far only be recovered with a HP elixir or consuming scavengeable herbs.

There are four ways to trigger a quest in the game:

1. A character with an Exclamation mark over their head will give you a quest once you talk with them and inquire about the displayed dialog topics. The characters will mostly follow their normal daily routine. Their quests don’t have time limits but might require crops which are out of season or items you can not craft or buy yet.

2. The Quest board at Ferry Stop will give you mostly time sensitive item-collection missions. The time usually runs out at the end of a season and the quests are then replaced for new ones. Be aware that some of the missions may require out of season crops or items you are not able to procure at the start of the season.


You may notice that some of the quests can also promise an additional bonus for completing the mission fast. To snatch the bonus make sure you collect all necessary items, have identified the quest giver and have a rough idea about their daily routine before you accept such a mission.
The completion time for the extra reward is only counted from the moment the mission is accepted.

Note:It happens rarely, but the Quest Board can be updated with new quests at other times than the start of a season, depending on your progress in the story.

It also pays to check the other notices on the quest board, they can be helpful on occasion.

3. Once you unlock them, you will occasionally get a Paper Crane letter with the request for a personal meeting from one of your fellow cultivators or friends. A lot of these quests are story related or will unlock new features for you. You should treat them as priority, especially if they request a specific meeting time.

.

4. If a character is found in an unusual location or not in their typical routine spot, you may trigger an Event as soon as you approach, even if there is no exclamation mark above their heads. It also pays to visit locations which are off your own usual routine once in a while. Some of the events may be triggered at a certain time of the day, by specific weather or require you to reach a certain level of friendship with the other cultivators, so keep your eyes open for them.

If you get completely stuck in the main quest, check out the Sect Journal in the second tab of the quest menu. It will show you which main-questlines are still unfinished. click on the orange yellow question marks to get hints as where to look for events that help you to progress.

Note: If you want to report in on a quest to a shopkeeper, you have to move around their shop counter and talk to them from the side, to get all of their dialog options.


Locating an NPC

Open the map menu and look either for their name or portrait on the right side of the map,click on it to reveal their position.

Example: Let's look for brother Yang

This is the map of our farm, but Yang seems not to be around. neither his name nor his portrait are displayed in the list on the right side.

If you can't find a character in the vicinity, you can click on the orange square to zoom out to a map that shows all of the areas you have already unlocked. Select an area to see whether any of your Sect members are present. Other NPCs won't be listed in the overview.

Apparently Yang, Chen and Ji are currently at Ferry Stop.

If you zoom back in on a selected area by clicking on it, you can again see the exact positions of all NPCs you can find there.
Select Yang's name from the list on the right, to have only his icon displayed on the map.

Looks like brother Yang is currently inside the Q-Pavillon.

Most NPCs aside from your Sect members will only be available in Ferry Stop during daytime.

Note: Time isn't paused while the game is loading a new location. If your Computer is slow (like mine), entering a new area might take long enough for the person you are looking for to move on to somewhere else in the meantime.

Item Quality

You may notice that some items come in different qualities. This can be crops, fish and scavenge-able objects like herbs and mushrooms.

The lowest quality is common ‘C’, the item is displayed on a grey background.

The next tier is good ‘G’ and the item is displayed on a green background.

The highest tier for herbs, dishes and normal crops is superior ‘S’ and the item has a blue background.

Crops however can also show a mutation and become a luxury ‘L’ item that looks distinctly different from the normal crop and is displayed on an orange background.

You may occasionally come about an 'L' class fish or elixir, too.

Note: Directly below the inventory are 5 equipment-slots for spatial storage rings - in the screenshot all 4 available types of rings are equipped. The green ring has the lowest and the orange rings have the highest storage capacity.



If you want to check, what to grow to harvest a certain Luxus grade crop, enter the 'Notes' section of the Menu. Select the 'Library' tab and open the 'Crops' list.
Here the statistics for each individual crop are listed.
- Growth season(s)
- Growth time
- Standard yield on harvest
- Number of harvested units seperated by qualiity.
- Possible luxury mutations get their own tabs and can be selected at the top right.

Note:
- Some mature plants can be harvested up to three times.
- The chance of extra yield, higher quality crops and the appearance of mutated crops depends on luck

Make sure you store items of the ‘Superior’ and ‘Luxury’ grade for you will need them later, be it for special quests – including story missions – or for research at the later constructed R&D department.

Also keep a few common crops and seasonal items for cooking, processing or possible requests. And only sell off what you don’t need.

If you carry more than one different quality of the same quest items with you during delivery, the game will automatically chose the lowest graded items from them, to complete the quest. (Unless the quest demands a high grade item specifically.)

Cooking, processing and crafting will also use the lowest available quality items by default. keep that in mind when attempting to cook high-quality dishes.



Inventory Upgrades

Your inventory will sooner or later be packed with items. In case your inventory is 'overflowing' (full inventory but you picked something else up nevertheless), the game leaves you no choice but to throw something away.

Before that happens, put things into a storage box, use them, sell them and of course build a storage hut as soon as possible (see more in the chapter 'Workshop').

However there are also two options to upgrade the Main Character's inventory:

a) Storage Rings

Magical rings function as a dimensional storage box and add a few empty slots to your inventory when equipped.

You can equip up to 5 (five) storage rings at the same time. You can buy them from the
Wandering Vendor, the Q-Pavillon once it opens for buisness and Lin Wanxi can craft even stronger ones, after she joins the Sect.


b) Gourds

The Mysterious Merchant in Red sells one Gourd that will unlock more inventory space permanently after use.
You will get a second one as reward, after you complete her quest to obtain the fox soul.
For more information see the chapter about the Mysterious Merchant in Red.

The game begins with a series of tutorial missions where your range of movement is restricted.

Save whenever it is suggested.

Your first mission is to wait with the other potential recruits in front of the main building.
Move with ‘WASD’ and talk with everyone with ‘F’ until an event begins.

Your next mission is to first find doctor Sun and then enter the inn to inquire about brother Xie’s health.

Move down the stairs first. After a short chat with the other cultivators move to the left and up the stairs. Doctor Sun is standing in front of his pharmacy – approach and talk to him with ‘F’.

After you talked to the doctor, take note of a faint blue sparkle between the furniture in front of the pharmacy. Use ‘space’ to jump over the obstacles and pick up the sparkling object with ‘E’. – You found yourself your first hidden treasure. Hidden objects like this can be discovered in several locations, so keep your eyes open for the blue sparkle.

.

Now move to the inn on the right and enter. Brother Xie’s room is upstairs on the left. Watch a few more events playing out.

Your next Objective is simply to talk with everyone about their future plans and report back to brother Yang.

The next day you will finally enter the Misty Valley.

You will be given the first choice here. If you pick the first answer you will be granted a few points of ‘Willpower’. The second answer will raise your ‘Divinity’ by a few points.


.
While you may be tempted to pick ‘Willpower’, which will boost your combat defense somewhat, I highly recommend picking ‘Divinity’ instead, which will increase your perception. During battle it will improve your chances to land a critical hit. Out of battle it seems to slightly boost your chance of finding extra items, better loot and receiving higher quality crops during harvest. (Your choice here does NOT influence the maximum either of the stats can reach, anyway.)

Brother Yang will hand you an axe and request you to chop down a few of the nearby trees for wood.

The axe is placed in the hotbar slot #1 you can use the number key or click on it with the mouse to equip or unequip it for this task. Switching equipped tools doesn't work though, while the character is moving around.
Use the 'E' key to hit a tree with the axe once but you can also hold the ‘E’ key down for to keep chopping.

Hand the lumber over to Yang and he will repair the hut which then becomes your Residence.

After that you will be directly introduced to the basics of farming.

Brother Yang hands you a hoe and requests that you remove some weeds and till the soil.

The range of your motion again is very limited – however you can reach a few extra tiles at the border of the allowed area.

The hoe Is now in slot #2 of your hotbar.

Just like the axe you received before, tools and items in the hotbar can be equipped and unequipped by hitting the corresponding ‘number’ or ‘letter’ key or by directly clicking on their icon in the hotbar with the mouse.

Remove weeds and till the soil on a selected tile with the equipped hoe by hitting ‘E’.
You can also smooth it back to normal by holding down the ‘E’ button longer while the hoe is equipped.
(For placing decorations such as fences or food processing facilities, the ground needs to be smooth.)


The weeds will regrow periodically unless a tile is tilled or something is placed on it.


.

Brother Yang will inquire about your skills – if you are not confident about your combat abilities, pick the answer with the extra HP but again the choice here does not matter much in the long run.

I personally prefer to take the 5 points of Stamnia, as Stamnia is the only stat that currently can't be trained.

Afterwards Yang will give you nine pouches of wheat seed to plant.

It is recommended that you remove as many weeds and till as much ground as you can reach. There is a small chance that removing weeds will give you a few pouches of random seeds, which you can at once plant alongside the wheat seeds brother Yang gave you.
While Yang will call you back, if you move a step too far away, you should be able to clear a 5x4 tiles area with some careful manoeuvring (aside from tiles blocked with rocks).
You can also reload your last save, if you are not happy with the results of your weeding - getting 3 or 4 pouches of seeds is a good amount. A higher Divinity stat helps somewhat to improve your chances for success.

.

You need to open your inventory and drag the pouches of seeds into the item hotbar. Once you have equipped them, you can plant them on a tilled tile with ‘E’. Planting costs 1 Point of Stamnia for each seed pouch.

Once you can buy seeds, check for their appropriate harvest season. If you harvest something at the wrong time, you will yield less crops for your trouble. While the plants wont wither like in other games, you will still make a loss. You can however plant a seed a few days before and then harvest it right after the season change.

(There is also a quicker method to plant several seeds at once which will require holding down the ‘E’ key and moving with ‘WASD’. However it will only be unlocked after the Main Hall is repaired. This method costs 5MP for each use and works similar to the magical Gourd which is described below.)

The next tool you are introduced to is the Gourd – it will act as your watering can. However the gourd never runs out of water and does not require refilling.
It can either water one tile at a time with ‘E’, which will cost you 2 points of Stamnia:

Or you can hold down the ‘E’ key to summon a rain-cloud and move it with the ‘WASD’ keys to water several tiles in one go, which will instead cost you 15 MP:


.

Your basic Mana Pool has 45 to 47 points at this time, so you can use the magic watering method three times before you have to recover.

With some practice controlling the gourd you can move it right onto the border between two tiles and then proceed to water two rows at once. (Range and Area affected can be increased by upgrading the gourd).


.

Recharging your MP is relatively difficult at the start though, so take advantage of rainy weather whenever you can.

Only for the tutorial quest all your tilled tiles will be watered after you tried the magical watering method.

Due to the high MP use of the gourd, it is advised to switch to using automated Octopath wells and automated Irrigation wells as soon as possible.

After completing the required quests and upgrading it, you can use the prayer function of the Jade Pendant to have the Jade Spirit take care of watering duty for a few days.

Once the soil is watered, Sister Ji Yaohua will approach you and hand you a magical talisman. You can either use it directly from the inventory by ‘clicking right’ on it and select ‘use’ or you can drag it into the item hotbar like the seeds and use it from there.

It will make anything that is planted in your field ripen instantaneously – you can now harvest the wheat you just planted (and anything else you managed to plant on the side) with the ‘F’ key.
Harvesting (and scavenging) will cost you 1 Point of Stamnia every time.

(Later in game you will receive a magical harvesting sicle tool, which will allow you to harvest multiple crops in one go without requiring any Stamnia or MP.)

Give 10x Wheat to sister Ji, who will give you two more harvest talisman.

Store those talisman until you really desperately need them. One can make crops on the entire field ripen, so using them when you have barely anything planted or using them on fast growing crops is a great waste. They can be helpful in a pinch, if you can’t complete a timed quest without them or a field of very expensive crops wont ripen in time before going out of season.

There also seems to be an increased chance to harvest a special luxury crop when using a harvest talisman.

If you require a specific mutated crop or a high quality one, you can save your game right before harvesting and reload after the harvest, if you didn’t get what you wanted. Higher divinity will help you find the good stuff.

Once Ji has received the wheat, it turns evening and all the cultivators meet around the campfire for another event and you are sent to bed in your new house after you have talked with them. You can also use your hoe to quickly harvest a few spring bamboo shoots, if there are any within your limited range or chop down another few trees with the axe before calling it quits for the night but it can also wait till the next day.

The main tutorial is pretty much complete at this point and you can roam more or less freely now.

Next morning, sister Ji Yaohua awaits you outside your house. She will hand you a few more seeds with the request to bring her a certain number of grown crops.

You can either use another harvest talisman to complete the quest instantly (not recommended, better save those for emergencies) or just wait for the crops to grow naturally – either way just plant those seeds (it should rain after midnight so this time watering wont be neccessary).

After you took care of your field, use the map with ‘M’ to find brother Chen who is waiting near the lake to give you a short fishing tutorial.

.
After completing the farming tutorial and resting the first night in your new house, you have an appointment with brother Chen at the pier on the southwest side of your farm for a short fishing tutorial.

Upon your approach, brother Chen will hand you a fishing rod and request that you catch a ‘bighead carp’.

Equip the rod, step onto the small pier and hit ‘E’ to start the minigame.

With the current rod not all types of fish are catchable yet.

To fish hit the ‘E’ key. again.

The fish will test the bait a few times in advance so you have to wait until the swimmer goes completely down. It will also make a splashing sound that is audibly different from before.

Now quickly pull in the line with ‘E’.

Once you caught and handed brother Chen a Bighead Carp, he will send you to the inn with it, to borrow their kitchen. Head there as directly as possible to start the cooking tutorial.

Note: You don't like going fishing or don't have time for it? Ask brother Chen to patrol a fishing ground of your choice. (Main Hall must be repaired to unlock this feature.) Upon his return, he will give you any fish he has caught and you can send him out right again. No payment required.
If you want him to patrol any of the mystic realms beside the Cave however, you need to defeat the realm boss first at least once.
The more dangerous the journey, the longer his patrol takes.
He might even catch fish that are out of season. Or on very rare cases bring some Lucky fish back which are normally not on his list at all.

2. Misty valley northern fishing spot (-pier needs repair-). It is a bit hidden on the west side of the Misty Valley map.

8. Harvest Cave of the Blessed Land, located beyond the repaired hanging bridge, west of your Residence. Has to be unlocked by finding a Sovereign Cactus Seed.

9. Pier in Oceanic Mystic Realm Lv 2



If there is a map of the area available, you can click on the fishing spot symbol, to see which fish can be caught there.

.

Some fish can only be caught during night time, others are only available during specific seasons.

Note: The fish swimming around at the fishing spot resemble some of the fish that can be caught at the time you started fishing.

None of those fish will actually go for the hook. Instead every time you throw out the line, a new fish will be generated which will then go for the bait.

Most fish have their own model and you can predict by it what you will catch. However, the bright orange fish model, which can be found in any of the fishing spots, is shared by several different species, including all of the Lucky Fish, most of the crab species, the turtles, the frogs and the clams.

Once you learn how to upgrade tools, a letter from Chen will reach you, telling you about advanced fishing. After that you can upgrade your fishing rod at the smithy in Ferry Stop as well. The advanced fishing rod will allow you to catch new types of fish.

The second upgrade has to be requested from elder sister Lin Wanxi, once you managed to recruit her and allows for you to also catch legendary fish. Each fishing spot has one legendary species of fish.

After you unlocked the Main Hall, brother Chen will offer information about fish habits as well as craft fish into display specimen for you (you need 3 of the same kind of fish and 10x Lumber for one specimen). Use the fish specimen to decorate the walls of your residence.

At any of the fishing spots it is possible to catch either silver, gold or rainbow Lucky Fish (any time of day, any season, any rod).
Aside from brother Chen turning them into display Specimen, they can (currently) only be sold - but for 666, 777 or 888 spirit stone shards respectively.
Fishing for them is a great way to get some extra cash at the start of the game.

To catch Legendary fish you need access to the crafting cave, so that Lin Wanxi can upgrade your fishing rod.


The Upgrade of the 'Good' Fishing Rod to 'Superior' requires:

3,000x Spirit Stone Shards
10x Curved Bone
10x Red Starfish
10x Blue Starfish
20x Superior Bamboo

Starfish can be collected in the Oceanic Realm.
Curved Bones can be mined in the Moon Realm.

Legendary Fish Minigame:

Similar to normal fish, a legendary fish will test the bait a few times and you have to hook it, once the swimmer goes down completely.

However instead of automatically reeling it in, a Legendary Fish will struggle and you have to defeat it in a minigame.

First you get a notification that you hooked something special:

.
Then for a brief moment the fish's movements are displayed, which you then have to copy with the corresponding 'WASD' keys.

You have to repeat that a few times with the movement patterns getting more complex until the fish is secure in your hands.

You might want to keep a pen and some paper at hand to note the directions down. The higher the rarity level of the legendary fish the more difficult their movement patterns become.

Each fishing spot seems to have only one type of legendary fish.

Note: You will get a wall decoration from Chen every time you catch a new species of legendary fish. There are at least two questboard mission involving them and there are also several minor side missions, directly triggered by a catch, which will give you a few extra rewards.
The wandering Vendor will sell you decorative orbs of your legendary fish for Plum Coins.
.

After completing the fishing tutorial, talk to Mu Xia at the inn. She will lead you to the kitchen and if you ask, also gives you a short overview to the cooking minigame.

Your task is to cook all required dishes as fast as possible. You can’t end the minigame until you have placed the finished dish(es) on the serving counter. Until then the ingredients wont run out. However, your rating will go down if you make too many mistakes or take too long.
There are no repercussions, though.



- You will find the raw ingredients on the tables at the back of the room.

- Fish and meat can be cut at the processing table on the middle isle. In the recipe this table is symbolized with a pointy knife.

- Vegetables have their own processing table which is represented by a square hacking knife.

- There is a big sink attached to the middle isle, where you can get water, which some recipes require aside from the main ingredients – especially using the boiling pot or when kneading dough.

- Anything that requires dough needs you to use the kneading table on the right side of the room. It is represented by a diagonal block and a dust cloud symbol. Don’t confuse it with the mixing table.

- The mixing table is located at the south end of the cooking space. Here you stir a few ingredients together and it is represented by a bowl with two chopsticks. Be careful! This symbol is easily confused with the symbol of the wok. Double check the recipe for it.

- The wok at the right wall is used for frying one or more ingredients. You don’t need to add extra oil. The wok is represented by a bowl symbol with a spatula.

- The boiling pot is found at the back wall, it usually requires water or soy sauce aside from processed ingredients but there can be exceptions. Make sure everything is ready before you start the cooking process. You can leave the cauldron to boil while you take care of some other preparations to save time. It is represented by a pot with a fire burning below it.

- The steamer is placed on the right side of the pot at the back wall. You can leave items to steam while you take care of other preparations but again make sure that everything is in place.

- Attached to the middle isle is also an empty table, where you can set down processed ingredients you have no other space for currently.

- The trash bin is a nondescript basket next to the sink, if something goes terribly wrong during cooking, toss the ruined dish in there and start over.

- The serving counter is at the southwest corner of the cooking space. Place everything that is finished there as fast as you can. If you have to cook several dishes at once serve them one by one as you have them ready, the order plays no role, start cooking the one you are most comfortable with.


Some mistakes I have seen in LPs or made myself ^^’

- Confused the wok symbol with the mixing table symbol
- Confused the steamer with the boiling pot
- Cooked/steamed something twice instead of picking it up
- Cooked something without water
- Forgot to cook something because it looked finished
- Forgot one ingredient
- Forgot to process one ingredient
- Processed an ingredient unneccessarily.
- Cooked something with the wrong ingredient when several dishes were to be cooked at once.

As I mentioned before it does not matter in which order you cook the quest-dishes, you can click on a different recipe, to start cutting ingredients while something else is in the pot or the steamer.
Despite what Mu Xia told you, you can’t 'overcook' dishes. So you have time to finish whatever else you are working on on the side before you go and reclaim the items from them.

Mu Xia will give you the first few recipes after you completed the cooking minigame. You'll also receive one of each dish you just cooked. Eat those dishes to replenish your stamnia once you run out.
Aside from that you receive the quest to bring lunch boxes to your fellow sect members.
Again you can find everyone by taking a look at the map with ‘M’.
The first person is right inside the inn (upper floor).
Two more are not in town but in the sect area (use the exit north of the town area where Yang is discussing with the villagers, the other path between the Misty Valley and the sect area is still blocked by a boulder).

After completing a few more cooking quest (Kitchen helper I to III), Mu Xia will offer to research recipes for you in trade for the necessary ingredients. You can either take a direct look at her requirement list when talking to her about recipes, or check the recipes’ requirements in your notes section of your inventory.

She will take double the amounts of ingredients which are actually required for cooking a dish later.

Once you trade more recipes from Mu Xia, you will notice that some need more than one item of a kind for cooking, however when in the kitchen, you only need to grab one item no matter what the recipe said you needed – the right amount is automatically deduced from what you brought to cook.
On the other side you wont waste any materials even if you encounter a failure during cooking and had to use the trash bin.

When you cook a single dish from a recipe you own with a three star rating, you’ll unlock the quick cooking option for it. This wont work for quests where the recipe is provided by the inn, though.

After the tutorial cooking lessons, you have to pay 200 spirit shards to rent the inn kitchen till the end of the current solar term, if you want to cook.
However you can keep cooking after completing a cooking quest until you leave the kitchen on your own or run out of stamina, as long as you have the recipes and brought enough ingredients. This can save you a bit of money at the start of the game.

Also note that when you cook something while you rented the kitchen, you can only cook a single recipe at a time. The cooking minigame ends as soon as you serve the first dish and will only count that one as fisnished, even if you have prepared more of it on the side.

Later on you can build the Sect kitchen which has a few more functions than the inn and where you can cook for free (as long as you have ingredients and recipes).

How to read a recipe - with an example from a screenshot:


We have a quest to cook two dishes. The first recipe is marked with a green hook as 'finished' which means it already has successfully been served.
The second recipe is actively selected (full instructions are displayed) and is in progress of being cooked - Stir-fried, Shredded Pork.

Ingredients: Pork, Winter Bamboo Shoots, Red Peppers, Wood Ear Mushrooms. They are found on the tables at the back-wall.

1. Cut pork on the meat cutting table.
2. Cut a bamboo shoot o the vegetable cutting table.
3. Get red pepper and water (from the sink) and mix both on the mixing table.
4. Take the cut pork, the cut bamboo shoot and an unprocessed helping of wood ear mushrooms to the wok and stir-fry it all.
5. Take the stir-fried pork and vegetables over to the mixing table, where you had prepared the red pepper sauce earlier, and mix them with it.
6. Take the finished dish to the serving table.

For this recipe it does NOT matter, whether you cut the pork or the vegetables first.
You could also for example stir-fry the meat and vegetables first and mix the pepper sauce afterwards. It only matters that you put the right ingredients together into the right processing step.

If you feel really confident in your cooking, you can even work on two recipes simultaneously and save a lot of time .

While completing the 'lunchbox delivery' quest, you will find brother You Jinghe at the sect grounds.

He has an Exclamation mark above his head, indicating that he has a new quest for you.

Talk with him to receive the quest to bring him 30x Stone to set up a Reconstruction HQ. He will hand you a pickaxe and request that you start with removing the boulders on the sect grounds.

The rocks gathered from there however wont be enough to complete the quest in one go.

Now that you have the pickaxe, you can also take the Exclamation mark quest from sister Li at Ferry Stop, to clean up the market and the docks. And if you still want more rocks, you can start cleaning up the field in Misty valley.

Once you hand over the stones, the reconstruction HQ will be built and you can find both You Jinghe and Wei Hong inside there for most of the day and talk with them to rebuild other buildings and create blueprints for furniture and processing equipment.
(You's Reconstruction list becomes available as soon as construction of the HQ is complete. Wei Hong's blueprint list requires you to repair the Workshop and the Main Hall first.)

Both will cost you a lot of raw materials and most buildings also require a good sum of spirit stones.

After the Reconstruction HQ is set up, you can access the Quest board at the Ferry Stop market.
Also the paper crane messenger system will be unlocked, once you saw a small event near the path leading to Ferry Stop and talked with brother Wei Hong. Make sure to reply to his letters and read any letters you receive afterwards as soon as you can.

Every completed building from brother You's Reconstruction list will grant a few points in Contribution and Sect Developement.
Contribution points will help the Main Character to rank up within the Sect.
Sect Developement will unlock rewards and new goals every time the Sect reaches a new level.

You can also mark any of the available projects in the reconstruction list with a star, to bookmark the resource requirements in your Notes menu.

You can only have one building project bookmarked at a time, but you can also bookmark workshop and other projects which will then get an extra enty.


Note: You don't have time to head into the Cave or a mystic realm to gather resources? You can ask junior sister Li or brother Yang to go in your stead. They will bring back a random collection of scavenged items or monster drops respectively.
(This feature will unlock some time after the Mainhall repairs are complete.)
Each of their missions will take a few days, depending on the chosen location.
However, their vists to mystic realms other than the Cave have to be unlocked by defeating the realm's boss at least once.

Consulting the map will show you, which buildings in an area still require repairs.
The peak connected to the sect ground by the (broken) Cloud bridge will be refferred to as 'The Garrison' in this guide.

As you have seen at the beginning the market place is severally damaged but some places are still open for buiseness regardless.

You can access the smithy and the groceries booth on the western side, the furniture store in the upper middle and the pharmacy where you met Dr. Sun a bit further to the east. There is also a fishing spot at the big pier and the inn on the eastern side of town.

.

- The Vegetable Stall sells a basic collection of seeds, some processed items for cooking and meat as well as eggs.

They also offer solar term sales of special items, which may include seeds you have not yet unlocked and rare ingredients.

Note: If cucumber or sticky-rice seeds show up during 1st year spring, buy a few bags (all if you have the cash for it). There will be a well paying quest during summer that requires you to deliver 50 cucumbers to a customer but with no guarantee that the seeds will become available during that season. You can get 3 bags for free, if you can complete another quest that requires you to deliver 9 tomatoes first, however 3 bags just wont be nearly enough to harvest 50 cucumbers. Sticky rice will also be required for a quest and later for cooking but doesn't grow well after summer.


- The Smithy only sells a few basic materials at this point, later on it will offer tool upgrades and more materials.

The upgrades give the following boosts to the tools:

Axe: Felling hardier trees for Superior Lumber, cleaning up hardier trees on the field, opening
the path to Sunset Forest.
1000x Shards, 20x Stone, 10x Obsidian

Gourd: The gourd flies further when controlled with Mana. (Still consumes 15MP at each use.)
1000x Shards, 8x health Essence, 15x Black Sand

Fishing Rod: Additional fish species can be caught.
1000x Shards, 3x Cinnabar, 5x Flexible Skin

Pickaxe: Mining harder ores for Superior Stone and Luminous Sand, cleaning up harder rocks
on your field, opening the shortcut between the Misty Valley Farm and the Sect Area,
opening the passage to Cave lv6.
1000x Shards, 20x lumber, 10x Obsidian

Your top priority should be the Axe-upgrade, to get access to the Sunset Forest as early as
possible, so you can harvest the bamboo you need to build the warehouse for storage.

Around the 5th solar term of 1st year summer, an Exclamation mark quest from the smith should pop up where he asks for 1x Liquor. This sets off the questline that improves the selection offered in his material shop. Complete this quest as fast as possible.
(Other requirements to trigger the quest might be completion of the Main Hall repairs and Lecture Hall repairs.)


- The pharmacy (Hui Chun Tang) sells herbs and a few seeds, which the grocery booth does not offer.
(Once the silkworm care is unlocked, you can buy new silkworms here as well.)

.

- The furniture shop (Anju Lane) sells items to place inside your house to improve your sleep quality.
It also offers new sales every solar term, where selected items are 20% off.

While new furniture is very expensive at the start of the game, recovery improves significantly with each item you place in your house.
You can also buy the carpets here which you need for one of the Questboard jobs in spring of year 1.


- In case you need some liquor or dishes to go, Mrs. Ye sells those at the inn reception.

You can also order from Ma Xiaozhu's (the waiter) menu and eat directly at a table.
Once you found the Jade pendant, you can order the daily offering dish, to charge and level-up the Spirit

You can eat the stamnia recovery dish once a day, to get more tasks done.
(The dishes offered are random. and prices my vary a lot.)
Once the Ferry Stop Longbridge has been repaired, you can efficiently use the inn menu to eat attack/defense/speed boosting food, before entering one of the Mystic Realms through the bridge.



Help sister Li with her quest to remove the rubble and the other merchants will reopen their booths the next solar term.


- The fishmonger booth is an expensive but sometimes godsent alternate to trying to catch every quest fish on your own.
They also offer random solar term sales on rare fish.

Tortoises are the favourite gift of Song Yantong and required to progress her recruitment.


- The snack booth can help you get your stamina back up, if you are in a pinch.

.

- The Wandering Vendor will visit only during the 1st solar term of each season as well as during solstice and equinox solar terms.

.
She only accepts 'Plum Coins' as payment and wont take your hard earned spirit stone shards.
Get Plum Coins by trading them for seasonal crops from your field.
Check which she wants in her order list - it will remain the same for the entire season and updates only when the next begins.

.
The Wandering Vendor is your main source for Soulgrass seeds, as they can’t be bought anywhere else. Soulgrass will be needed in several quests and can earn you a lot of money when sold. Until you unlock beekeeping, selling Soulgrass will be one of your best sources of income.

She also sells items you can gift to your fellow sect members, spell scrolls, decoration items and so on.

Some items like fish display orbs and teleportation miniatures need to be unlocked first by catching the respective fish yourself or defeating the realm boss of the corresponding miniature.

Note that all her special deals are unique items. Once you bought them, they are permanently sold out.

The Wandering Vendor has also a series of quests for you, which require you, to grow different mutated luxury crops for her.


- A shy guest will visit the Market after it is repaired. Try to find them three times (3x) and you will receive something good.

How:

Sister Li will wait near your house and tell you about the Forest Entrance in the Misty Valley.
Unfortunately it is blocked by giant roots, which have to be cut down with an upgraded axe.

- Talk with brother Yang.

- Talk with the smith in Ferry Stop and you get access to the tool upgrade menu.

- Each of the available tool upgrades costs 1,000 Spirit Stone Shards (and upgrade materials).

- (The upgraded fishing rod becomes only available after a letter from brother Chen.)

- Cut away the giant roots with the upgraded axe and proceed into the forest.

The Sunset Forest will be your main source of Lumber (& superior), Bamboo (& superior), you can also scavenge for herbs and find many mana clusters in the area.

- During Spring you can harvest Spring Bamboo Shoots with the hoe.

- During Summer you can collect Cicada Sloughs from big trees.

- (No special items during Autumn).

- During Winter you can harvest Winter Bamboo Shoots with the hoe.


All resources in the Forest will reset at the start of a new Solar Term.

An exit to the north, leading to the Deep Sunset Forest will open, once you start the events to recruit Song Yantong.

The big root that is blocking off the path to the east, can be removed with an axe upgraded to 'superior' by Lin Wanxi, once you have recruited her. However, until you near the endgame there is nothing to do here.

At the start your house is a very empty, tiny one-room hut. It has a bed and a wardrobe and that’s it.

As the amount of HP, Stamnia and MP recovered here depend not only on the time you spend sleeping but also on the quality of your sleep. It is obvious that with more and better furniture your recovery will be more complete and faster.

As the room is at the start of the game, you will only recover a few points of HP and Stamnia but zero MP.

While there are items available at the furniture store at Ferry Stop Market, which allow for recovery of MP, most are very expensive for your starting funds. So your best options are to get them by completing quests or wait for sales.

It makes no sense to mindlessly stuff furniture into your house however, as there is a cap of how many points are regenerated.

Once the sect’s Main hall is completed the Reconstruction HQ will offer you a series of house upgrades. These not only allow for you to place more furniture inside the building, they also raise the cap for the maximum points the amassed furniture can help you recover while you sleep.
Brother You Jinghe also offers a selection of floor and wallpaper designs for your house.

After the building has reached the 5th level, the house customisation becomes available. Ask brother You about the options to redecorate the outside appearance of your residence and the back and side yard.

He will offer different house styles which you need rare materials and a lot of spirit stone shards for. Make sure to 'Change' to the new style you want in his list after aquiring it.

Furniture

During the lunchbox delivery quest, you should have received a bag with a bamboo table, a bamboo bench and a storage box, which you can all set up inside your house.

Press ‘H’ to change into the furniture placement menu and double click on the item you want to set up.

This menu will also show you the current hourly recovery when sleeping and the recovery cap of your current house upgrade.

The Table Board adds +1HP, +1Stamnia and +1MP to the total recovery for each hour the character sleeps. Here it hovers over the two lit, blue tiles on the right side of the room before it is placed with 'Space'.
With the Table Board set up, the furniture in the room will give:
22 / 35 Stamnia
12 / 20 HP
02 /10 MP
Numbers on the left representing the actual hourly recovery, numbers on the right the house's maximum capacity at Lv1.
The storage box at the back wall and the weather orb artefact do not add anything to the recovery total but each of the decorative floor-tiles adds +1HP.


While in the furniture menu:

- Click left on the categories to look for the items you want to place.

- Click twice on the object you want to select.

- Move the furniture item onto the chosen tile(s) with 'WASD'. Make sure you are not standing in the way.

Green tiles are free. The tiles will change their color to red, if they are blocked, and to blue if the item hovering above them can be placed.
Some furniture items (for inside and outside) can also be placed on top of carpets or decorative tiles but there are exceptions (like most processing facilities).

- Turn the item by 90° with 'Q' or 'E'.

- Set the item down with 'Space'.

- Pick an item up by standing on (carpet, etc.) or near it (furniture, etc.) and pressing and holding 'E'.

Most furniture objects meant for inside give a passive bonus on the regeneration when the character sleeps at night.

But as the name implies the storage box can be used to stash a few items you want to keep for a later date. Best put things in you don't want to accidentally sell.

(While there are other boxes and wardrobes in several decoration sets, which can be unlocked later, unfortunately none of them can be used for actual storage.)

Decoration which is placed outside on either of the three available fields (main field, side lot, blessed land cave) won't give a regeneration bonus as it does not influence the Main Character's sleeping comfort.


Last but not least brother You offers to trade materials for interior redecorations of the wall and floor styles.
The Q-Pavillon will also offer a few interior style options once their research is done.

After you bought a wallpaper or floor-type, you can access it by opening the furniture menu with 'H' as well as the last option in the menu.

You can change the appearance of each wall, floor and the staircase individually.

When you return to your house one evening, you will hear a loud rumbling sound coming from the east side of the valley.

Go to investigate and meet brother Yang, who heals your stamnia, hands you a wooden sword and takes you into the cave, that has just opened.
He'll ask you to defeat the monsters on the first level.

Inside the Cave, your character will always look and aim into the direction you point at with the mouse, but you still move them with 'WASD'.

You can hit the enemies by pointing the mouse at them and click the left mouse button repeatedly.
This sends a single sword flying at your opponents from a distance. It however counts as a physical attack and costs neither mana nor stamnia.

To increase your attack power, you can either equip stronger swords or increase your character's 'Stance' stat.

Improving 'Willpower' raises the defense, however there is no armor equipment in the game.

'Divinity' is a luck stat, that increases the chance to land critical hits in battle.

'Spirit' influences the strength of your magical attacks.

You can either use food items and liquors for a temporary boost or accomplish Breakthrough to a new cultivation level and take lessons in the Lecture Hall for a permanent increase of your character's status.
There are also a few other items such as books and elixirs, which can boost stats as well but books are a rare find and elixirs which can increase stats permanently are either extremely expensive or require hard to collect ingredients for the Alchemy minigame.

Report back to Yang after you defeated two brown lizards. He will teach you your first spell – equip it from the second tab in the character menu to the combat-hotbar.

You need to activate the spell in the combat-hotbar by selecting it with a left click. You can fire it with a right click.
Using a spell will consume some mana, depending on the spell and the level.

Don’t forget to scavenge a few of the easy to miss Shiitake mushrooms.

You can also use the pickaxe to mine some of the rocks on this level. There will be more and different mineral nodes and two more types of mushrooms deeper down. Some rocks and nodes will require an upgrade of the pickaxe to mine.

You will need a lot of Obsidian at the beginning and later even more Cinnabar and Luminous sand, so if you see a red or blue mineral deposit - mine it! The rock turtles will occasionally drop some as loot as well.

You can instantly leave the cave any time by taking the staircase back up.

The further you go down in the cave the bigger swarms of enemies are around and the higher the difficulty rises.

- Brown lizards
- Blue rock turtles
- Bats
- Big brown lizards (using an earth-spell attack)
- Red rock turtles
- Green jellyfish (only vulnerable by magic attacks).

On level 5 of the cave you can unlock a portal leading back to your farm. You then can use it as a shortcut to access the 5th level directly from outside.

On level 6 you can find a fishing pond.


.

Amount and quality of the loot can be increased by a higher divinity stat.

Monsters and resources are both reset after leaving and reentering the cave.

Level 8 is the lowest level of the mine - be prepared to fight a boss and its minions.

The Lv8 Boss can be defeated on every visit and drops
1x Earth Essence
1x Luminous Sand
1x Cinnabar

Since there is no path leading further down from Lv8, return directly to your farm through the entrance staircase after mining as many of the plentiful colored mineral nodes as you can.

Basics to exploring:

If you have trouble finding enough time to explore the cave early into the game, make use of the Weather Orb artefact. When the orb predicts rain or snowfall in the morning, you can skip watering that same day and the next, as the weather will already change at midnight but the game will check whether the plants have been watered hours later at 7am in the morning.
To get the Weather Orb find and talk to the invisible cultivator at Ferry Stop three times.

Top up your MP with elixirs or mana clusters before you enter the Cave. Eat at the inn to recover your Stamnia as well but you'll also need to bring along snacks for your Stamnia if you want to mine efficiently. So if you can, best cook some Stamnia recovering food at the inn a few days in advance. There are also food items that temporarily boost attack, defense and speed.


If the enemies are too difficult to defeat, take a few lectures for raising Willpower (defense) and Stance (attack) at the Lecture Hall before your next Cave-expedition.

Among the Sect budget you get every season at the Main Hall are Health elixirs. But you can also eat unprocessed Anima Herbs from the forest or the Pharmacy in a pinch.

To reach Lv6 and below of the Cave, you need to upgrade the pickaxe.

At some point into the story brother Yang, brother Chen and junior sister Li will offer you to go exploring in the cave and available mystic realms and bring back building- and alchemy-materials for you.
For unlocking new mystic realms to them, you need to defeat the boss monsters there at least once.

Yang will bring back monster-loot from the respective realm.

Chen will patrol the fishing grounds and return with in- and off-season fish he catches.

Li will mine and forage materials that can be collected in the respective realm.

All three of them have a chance to return with rare or superior items such as boss-drops, lucky fish or superior alchemy ingredients.

.

Priority: Very High!

Talk with brother Wei Hong after the Reconstruction HQ has been completed. He will suggest to build a workshop between your house and the cave entrance on your farm.

Talk with brother You Jinghe, to start the construction once you collected the following materials:

5x Cinnabar

Lumber can be gathered by cutting down trees on your farmland, stones can be either gotten from clearing your field or mining in the cave. Cinnabar can be mined from blue mineral nodes within the cave or be received as loot from defeating blue rock turtles.

Some things that can be built in the workshop after the blueprints are available:

- Warehouse: A big storehouse that can be upgraded several times to stash giant amounts of items. The blueprint is already available as soon as the workshop construction is completed. It is a 3x3 tiles construct that needs to be placed somewhere on your field. Unfortunately you can only build a single unit.

.

- Octopath well: Place this well on an untilled tile in the middle of a 3x3 square of your field. You need to manually activate it with some stamina to instantly water the 8 (tilled) tiles surrounding it.

- Modified Octopath well: This well has the same range 3x3 as the normal octopath well but it works completely automatically.

- Irrigation well: This again is a manually activated well but it can water a 5x5 square (24 tiles) at once. For the upgrade blueprint to automatic, befriend Wei Hong (2 hearts).
You can have now up to 20 Irrigation wells or Automated Irrigation wells. You'll need a lot of luxury mutated blue potatoes to build them all though.

- Stonemill: A mill to grind grain to flour, etc. get the recipes from Mu Xia at the inn.

- Fermentation jar: Make liquor, sauces or even snacks by aging your crops and honey in it, again Mu Xia has most of the recipes you require for it.
The jars can be upgraded later on to ferment a batch of up to 10 objects. The upgraded version also works faster. It is a good idea to have a few of them fermenting different ingredients at the same time.

- Drying rack: Some crops and fish need to be dried before being used for cooking, Mu Xia will tell you which ones.
The drying rack can be upgraded later for 10-objects batch processing as well.

- Etc.

Of course you can also build decorations or furniture for both inside your house or your field. Once you have repaired the Main hall, trade materials for various blueprints with Wei Hong. Doing research in the R&D Room of the Q-Pavillon later on will reward you with a few interesting decoration blueprints as well.

Recruitment Missions are on hold until this building is repaired.

The construction of the Main Hall takes several days.

On the day of completion, the MC will receive a letter, calling them to the Main Hall the next day, to join a meeting.

After talking several times with all Sect members, new quests and building-options become available.

The main hall is necessary to keep track of the development status of the sect.
Also you will have meetings there with the other sect members during some quests.


.

Once it is constructed, you can pick up an allowance every new season at the office to the left of the hall. Said allowance consists of money, elixirs, seeds and a few snacks. The amount depends on your rank as well as on the rank of the sect.

.

You can check the sect status on a board to the right of the main hall. When enough achievements have been accomplished the sect gains in rank and new features and goals are unlocked.

Once the Main Character fullfills the necessary requirements, they can also accept a promotion to Sect Supervisor and later on to Elder at this board.
(Promotion to Supervisor only requires one of the conditions to be met. The promotion to Elder however, requires both cultivation level and contribution.)

The lecture hall can be built (from the Reconstruction list) after the Main Hall construction is complete.
But since the Lecture Hall serves as a school, it is also necessary to hire teachers before lessons can be started.

- Visit Ferry Stop (after the Main Hall is repaired) to see a cutscene where sister Li is talking with a stranger near the Inn.

- Follow the stranger into the inn and talk with her.

- As payment you have the choice between three options. Offer Tingfeng the Wanderer either:
a) Furniture (She doesn't want it, which leaves you with the other two options.)
b) Money (3,000 Spirit Stone Shards)
c) Items (1x Double cooked Pork, 1x Yellow Frog, 3x Life Energy Orbs)

- Once the Lecture hall is repaired, inspect the signboard in front of the LH.

- On the left side at the bottom is the option ‘Lecturer Management’ click on it and open a sub menu.


.

- At the beginning only Tingfeng is available as lecturer. Hire her for 500 Spirit Stone Shards.

- Leave the menu for now without doing anything else.

- Talk with brother Yang. -> More lecturers can now be hired from the board.

- Return to the Signboard, hire as many teachers as you want or can afford with ‘Lecturer Management’.

- Check the list of available teachers in the main menu of the signboard. Compare which status improvements they offer with the Main Character’s abilities in the Character screen.

(If you hover the mouse over a status, you can see the MCs current potential. You can increase your status up to that potential cap. Once the cap is reached. The stat can’t be further improved until the MC successfully breaks through to the next cultivation stage.)

- The length of the Health bar display is the current maximum HP.
- The red bar shows the actual HP. If the character is wounded it is shorter than the Health bar.
- When hovering the mouse over the display, a secondary display pops up.
- The length of the secondary display shows the HP potential cap for Main Character's current
cultivation grade.
- The yellow bar shows the current maximum HP. As long as the yellow bar is shorter than the
HP potential, the Main Character can take lessons at the Lecture Hall to improve the current
HP maximum.
- Once the grade's potential cap is reached, the Main Character needs a Breakthrough to
improve further.

(The Stamnia pool is the only stat that can not be improved by the lectures or breakthrough. It can only be improved by using rare items.)

- Click on ‘Scheduled’ for up to three lecturers and confirm your selection with ‘Complete course scheduling’.


You can make a schedule only once every solar term. The lessons take 1 hour each and start the earliest possible date at 13:00 (1:00pm).

You will receive a class reminder papercrane at 12:30 (0:30pm) before the lessons start. You can click on ‘Go there at once’ on the papercrane, to teleport directly into the lesson from wherever you currently are.
(Of course you can also walk up to the Lecture hall and start the lessons from there.)

How much progress the MC makes is somewhat random and you can reload, if you are not happy with the results. (Currently the other sect members wont get cultivation points from lectures, this feature has been removed a few updates back.)

- Talk with Tingfeng once she has an Exclamation mark and she offers to invite more and better Lecturers, but instead of money they need to be bribed with various presents.


Once you bribed and invited them, you still need to officially recruit them on the Lecture Hall board before you can schedule their lessons.

Another way to unlock better teachers is to level up the rank of the sect. The new teachers can then also be hired from the Lecture Hall message board.

The Q-Pavillon is the Sect’s new trade center and it can be built once the Lecture Hall is repaired.

It sells new kinds of furniture, elixirs, swords, spatial rings and some blueprints.

But most importantly you can purchase crop-, flower- and herb- seeds, 99x pouches each and there is a chance every solar term, that the seed quality is increased to ‘good - green’, which improves the base quality and selling price of the harvested crops.

However the starting stock is very limited. To improve the number of different wares, new trade routes need to be found, opened and researched.


This requires building the R&D department, which is a side-room inside the Q-Pavillon.

When: After the Q- Pavillon is officially opened.

Who: Ji Yaohua and Yang

Priority: High

How:

- Wait for an invitation letter to the Q-Pavillon opening day.

- Attend and talk with Ji and Yang there.

- The R&D room can be selected from brother You's Reconstruction list.

Once its construction is complete, the Main Character can invest money to open known trade routes at the big map at the back wall of the room. (It currently costs 1,000, 3,000 or 5,000 Spirit Stone Shards for different trade routes respectively. Also a certain number of trade items need to be researched as well.)

More trade routes become available as the Sect ranks up.

Later on sister Li will request assistance for travel preparations, as she is planning an expedition to search for new trade routes.

Currently sister Li goes on several seperate expeditions and will discover new trade routes for you.

You need to meet the following conditions before sister Li goes on the first trade expedition:
- R&D Room has been built.
- Friendship with Li is at least at 1 full Heart (speaking aquaintance).
- You have seen some of Li's side events
a) Catching the fish thief (Ferry Stop, near Li's house at night)
b) Storytime with Tingfeng (Main room of the Inn) -> following events
- (Have 3x Jujube Cakes ready as her travelling rations.)
- (All currently available trade routes have been unlocked in the R&D Room.)

For the second trade expedition:
- Quest 'A Heroine's trouble' must be completed.

For the third trade expedition:
- Ferry Stop Longbridge is repaired.
- Training Grounds at the Garrison are repaired.

For the 4th trade expedition:
(WIP)

At 3 Hearts, Li will also go on a training excursion, which is NOT related to the trade routes.

The research is done at the worktable to the right of the room. Here the Main Character can donate Crops, Ores, Herbs etc. in exchange for new wares to hit the shelves.

Note that the research demands crops of at least 'superior-blue' quality to be donated, some research even requires 'luxury-orange' mutated crops to unlock.
Later on research will require rare items from the related mystic realms. It might be easier to have junior sister Li and brother Yang looking for them, or to buy them with the Spiritsstone conversion function from the Jade Pendant (especially since the item grade will always be superior) instead of trying to collect everything yourself.


.
Once you have researched every item on a page, don't forget to click on 'launch' on the top right, to claim your research reward!
Completed and claimed research pages will be marked on the left side of the research menu with a 'claimed' tag.

Any researched item can be purchased from the Q-Pavillon starting the next solar term after donating the neccessary research items. You may have to search through the different Tabs of the store page to find them.

Once you unlocked/claimed enough trade routes and research, sister Ji will send you a paper crane with a research journal, which you can use to do research from your inventory.

When: After sister Li's return from her 1st trade expedition.

How:


- Meet sister Li near your field, when you return from Ferry Stop to start a new quest.

- Talk to Tingfeng the Wanderer at the inn and then talk with Li again to receive an artefact.

- Place the artefact either inside your house or somewhere on your farm.

- Use the artefact with 'F' to get teleported into the Realm.

- Point with the mouse into the direction you want to go and jump over gaps in the lotus pads with 'Space'.

- Fight monsters with either the sword or spells, similar to inside the Cave.

- Bush monsters will occasionally drop random crop-seeds.

- Flower-Bush monsters will occasionally drop random flower-seeds.

- The Lotus Realm has six levels, with a giant water lizard as the boss on the last one.

The boss guards a rare Water Lingzi which will increase the MC's max. MP permanently, even beyond the current cap.

- There is a Fishing spot in Level 4.


.

- On Level 6 just before encountering the Boss is a meditation platform to replenish MP.

- Among the Lv 6 Boss' cronies there are a few Flower Bush monsters. But there are ladders near the exits of Lv 1 and Lv 6, leading up to a plateau each, where you can find the Flower-Bush-Turtles as well, to get rare Rose Seeds.

Rose seeds can only be bought in surprise bags, so aside from randomly getting a seed pouch when harvesting roses, defeating Flower-Bush-Turtles in Lv1 of the Lotus Realm is the easiest way to find seeds of a color.

- Keep your eyes open in all levels for scavenge-able items such as reed leaves, water chestnuts, lotus dew, lotus root, lotus flowers and mussles or even pearl oysters. You might also be able to occasionally catch thunder frogs, crayfish, water ripple turtles or tortoises etc. by hand (without a fishing rod). From level 3 on you can also collect some White Wood Ear mushrooms.
The Reed Leaves come from the slightly discolored reed stalks you can find in the reed field of level 2 and beyond.

- After the Ferry Stop Longbridge has been repaired, you can also enter the Lotus realm by chosing the 'Yuhua Mystic Realm' as your travel destination from the bridge menu.

- In level 3 you can unlock a teleport platform that lets you exit the Mystic Realm. The platform will unlock automatically upon your approach.
To use it for entering the Realm however the Longbridge must be repaired first. Go over the bridge, chose the Lotus Realm and then chose again to go directly to the 3rd level (second option).

When:

After the Ferry Stop Longbridge has been repaired.

How:
Wait for a letter from junior sister Li, mentioning the Flowers Mystic Realm.

.
Cross the Longbridge and chose the new option 'Flowers Mystic Realm' as destination.

The Flowers Realm has 5 levels with mostly plant or insect/scorpion type enemies who's attacks are highly poisonous. Aside from green rocks which can be mined for Emerald Sand, there are a lot of different scavengeable herbs and mushrooms to be found.
Some herbs like green and yellow Devil Flowers can be spotted at once but keep an eye open for Honeysuckle and Scarlet Sage. They are small and easily missed.
Mu Xia's favourite Red Flowers grow in the 5th level near the Boss as well.

On Lv 3 is a fishing spot (it is hidden away in the far south-east of the level):

You can also find a Sword circle on Lv 3, where you can use your flying blade skill.

If you use the flying blade skill from there you can fight some monsters in arial combat but there seems to be no other exit in this section.
To dismount you have to return to the sword circle where you started.

On Lv 5 a plant based Boss and their cronies are waiting to fight you.


You can unlock a platform that opens a shortcut between level 3 and the entrance/exit of the Mystic Realm. It will unlock automatically upon your approach.

To use it for entering the Realm , go over the Ferry Stop Longbridge, chose the Flowers Realm and then chose again to go directly to the middle of the Realm (2nd option).

There are a few flower-bush monsters in level 3 and among the Boss's minions, like the ones in the Lotus Realm they can occasionally drop flower seeds, and the rare single colored rose seeds.

When: After Spell Upgrade Training was unlocked.

Who: Sister Li Menqing

How:

- Wait for a letter from sister Li, asking for a meeting.

- Talk with junior sister Li on the Ferry Stop Longbridge.

- Wait for Li's report.

-> The Desert Realm can now be visited from the Ferry Stop Longbridge travel menu.

The Desert Realm is crawling with scorpions brown or golden rock turtles and lizards as well as rock and metal based enemies (ghost swords) which have strong range or poison attacks.
You can mine and scavenge several crafting materials including two new types of sand.

The path branches on Lv2, you can either use a normal exit to Lv3 where a golden lizard mini Boss waits, or use the sword circle where you can use your flying blade skill.

.

If you use the the sword circle, you have to go through two levels of air-combat.

From there you reach a third area where you can dismount.
The Boss Mud Epee is hiding here.
You need to destroy it to open the Hot Sand Ridge Trade Route.

Don't forget to pick up the Overlord Tree seed, the Mud Epee was guarding, after the battle!

You can unlock a platform that opens a shortcut between the sword sigil crossroad and the entrance/exit of the Mystic Realm. It will unlock automatically upon your approach.

To use it for entering the Realm , go over the Ferry Stop Longbridge, chose the Desert Realm and then chose again to go directly to the Dragon Bridge (second option).

Who: Brother Xie

When: After you unlocked the Blessed Land Harvest Cave and successfully harvested a fruit of the Sovereign Cactus.

Where: Cross the Ferry Stop Longbridge and chose the Oceanic Realm of Canghai City as your travel location.

.
How: Give senior brother Xie 1x Fruit of the Sovereign Cactus. He will suggest looking for seeds/saplings of other unusual plants namely the 'Dragon Blood' and the 'Phoenix Egg'.

Xie will go on a short excursion to look for a road to Canghai City.

Upon his return the Oceanic Realm can be accessed via the Longbridge.


The new realm has a Fishing Pier in Lv2. near the entrance.
Note: The Tortoise Minister can be caught here.

.

Near the exit of Lv2 you can activate a teleportation platform by approaching it, which can transfer you directly between the Ferry Stop Longbridge and LV2 of the Oceanic Realm.

.
At the exit of Lv2 you have to step on a Sword Sigil, the next three levels consist of 'underwater'- combat while riding the blade.

.
The Boss Soulslaying Whale awaits in the third 'underwater' level.
He is guarding the 'Dragon Blood', a Red Coral Root. After collecting it, you can plant it in the Blessed Land.

Once the Boss is defeated once, you fullfilled the condition to open the trade route to Canghai City at the R&D room.

You will also get the option to open a second trade route, which will 'only' cost you 8.000 Spirit Stone Shards.


You can mine some Cinnaber and Loam Stone, as well as Obsidian, Stone and Superior Stone in the first two levels. Sea Cucumbers and Red & Blue Starfish can be scavenged in all levels.

Many of the monsters use water based attacks. They drop mainly Precious Corals, Turtle Shells and Crab Roe as loot.

The blue jellyfish are immune to normal attacks and need to be defeated with magic.

.

When: After you defeated the Boss Soulslaying Whale in the Oceanic Realm.

How: Wait for letters from brother Xie and sister Ji concerning the Phoenix Egg rare seedling and the new trade routes respectively.
This also gives access for two new trade routes. While one will again 'only' cost 8,000 Spirit Stone shards, the other requires you to defeat the Boss Giant Golden Molerat in the Moon Pass Mystic Realm.

Where: Cross the Ferry Stop Longbridge and chose the Moon Pass Mystic Realm as your travel location.


The Moon Realm is the first realm where levels can have more than one exit.

Still it is relatively easy to get to the boss room, as all the paths eventually lead towards the 'Gate' level and from there to the 'Beacon Tower' level, where the Golden Molerat has its nest. The Molerat is also guarding another rare plant seed for your Blessed Land - make sure to pick it up before you leave.

The only interesting thing to note is, that the three paths have different monsters appearing on them and that you may have to jump down from some ledges to progress, so you may not be able to go back the way you came.

There are no fishing spots or the like.

The shortcut gate is found in the 'Gate' level and is hard to miss. As always it can be accessed from the Ferry Stop Longbridge, as soon as it is activated.

Note: You will encounter the 'demonic hand' monsters for the first time, which have a fairly high magic resistance. There will be variations of them in other realms later.

.

When: after you have harvested Dragon Blood and a Phoenix Egg from rare plants in your Blessed land (The seeds can be found in the Oceanic and Moon realm respectively).
You need to follow the main quest further until brother Xie makes a 'confession'.

How:

Talk with junior sister Li and brother Yang respectively. Both of them will then leave scouting for the Fire Latern plant and neither of them will be in town for a few days.
There will be no paper crane communication with them available either for the duration of their expedition, as the paper is not fireproof.

Sister Li will return shortly to report back her findings.
Talk with her and she will leave again to continue scouting.

A few days later Yang will contact you about their return with a paper crane, with the recipe for a dowsing elixir attached.

- Talk with Yang to accept the quest to defeat the Blue Wasp boss and retrieve the fire latern seed.

- The new Realm will be accessible from the Ferry Stop Longbridge.

Before you enter this Realm, make sure you have a few bottles of the 'dowsing elixir' in your inventory.

The Lava Realm has a few levels, where your character will automatically go into a state of 'burning', represented by a flame icon on the top of the screen. Make sure to use the dowsing elixir then, to remove the debuff.

Aside from that, the monsters can and will try to set your character on fire and it is also possible to fall into the lava or get hit by erupting fireballs while jumping over platforms in the lava sea.

.

There are no fishing spots in this realm.

The gate is relatively easy to find (the exit of the same level as the gate is close by on a slightly raised part of the same plateau to the east).

In the level with the gate and the level following, there are optional areas which can be crossed by swordflight. Red lotus, which is an ingredient for thawing elixirs, can be collected there (and in the boss level).

Note: As mentioned the two sword flight areas are optional, they each have two sword sigils and will lead you in circles back to the entrance.

The Boss, is hiding in a crater that is filled with lava and you have to jump over small islands during combat, not unlike the boss nest in the Desert Realm.

Don't forget to pick up the rare plant seed on the large middle platform.

Note: the monsters in the Lava Realm seem to have a relatively high resistance to metal-elemental spells.

.

When: after you have harvested Dragon Blood and a Phoenix Egg from rare plants in your Blessed land (The seeds can be found in the Oceanic and Moon Realm respectively).
You need to follow the main quest further until brother Xie makes a 'confession' .

How:

Talk with brother Chen, he will leave scouting for the Frost Flower rare plant and wont be in town for several days.

He will send several letters about his progress before he reports back that he has managed to secure a trade route. And you will receive a recipe for a thawing elixir.

- Talk with Chen once he is back to accept the mission to defeat the giant turtle boss and secure the Frost Flower seed.

The new Realm will be accessible from the Ferry Stop Longbridge.

Before you enter this Realm, make sure you have a few bottles of 'thawing elixir' in your inventory.

The Blizzard Realm has a few levels, where your character will automatically go into a state of 'frozen', represented by a snowflake icon on the top of the screen. Make sure to use the thawing elixir then, to remove the debuff.

The Blizzard Realm has a relatively simple map, though you have to use sword flight in some areas to progress and to use jump to climb up further on the path but there is only one route until you reach the second to last level.

Said level has a huge sword flight area , where you can dismount to several different rooms with different monsters. Several of those rooms have exits leading directly to the boss-nest in level 'Heavenly Lake'.

.

However, the shortcut gate in the level 'Frostbound Ascent: Trail' is not that easy to find. (x_x I went through this Realm three times before I was able to locate it.)
Move through this level as normal but once you find the exit gate, move south from it until you notice a narrow ledge leading further west. At its end there is the gate.

This realm doesn't have any fishing spots.

Note: There are not that many resources lying about in this realm. Make sure you look around thoroughly to find the small ice-cubes that can be mined as well as some frozen bones and tiny snow flowers.

.

When: after you have harvested Dragon Blood and a Phoenix Egg from rare plants in your Blessed land (The seeds can be found in the Oceanic and Moon realm respectively).
You need to follow the main quest further until brother Xie makes a 'confession' and asks you to bring back a rare seed from this realm as well.

How: Your fellow sect members will search for the realm for you, once they return from their scout quests, the new realm will be accessible from the Ferry Stop Longbridge.

Before you enter this Realm, make sure you have a few 'poison clearing' or 'poison immunity' elixirs in your inventory.

Note: Breakthrough to 'Core Formation' highly recommended before you attempt going into this place.

As the name of the realm indicates, most of the enemies have poison attacks and some levels are filled with poison mist as well.

The realm layout is relatively straight forward however there are 'teleporters' and 'makeshift bridges' that will take you to different areas of the same level as well as some mandatory sword flight areas.

There are no fishing spots.

The Shortcut gate is on the south side of a room on the 'Corridor' level. The room itself can only be reached by swordflight and is located on the southwest side of the map.
The 'Corridor' level exit is found in a different room to the east of the map which also only can be reached by swordflight.

Note: The red jellyfish again are only vulnerable by magic. They also have a 360° wave attack - only way to evade it is to move away from it until is dissolves (jumping seems not to work).

The boss and his minions hide on the 'Terrace' level, among them several red jellyfish.

Don't forget to pick up the rare plant seed the boss was guarding.

Also the last trade route can be opened at the Q-Pavillon, once the boss is defeated.

.

When: After you have built the Fairy Mirror.

Where: Just northeast of your main field on your farm.

How: Use the Fairy Mirror to enter the tea garden.

.

The tea garden is a very small Realm of only 3 levels, where you can fight a few weak monsters and collect tea leaves from some of the bushes.

Aside from that there are only a few mushrooms, trees and rocks to collect or get wood and stone materials from.

The bush and flowerbush monsters will drop random vegetable and flower seeds when defeated like in the Lotus and Flower realms.

The last level is guarded by a Scorpion Mini-Boss.

There is no fishing spot or shortcut gate.

Note: Once he officially rejoins the Sect, brother Xie Wentian accepts tea leaves as a +9 friendship gift.

.

How:

- Start the recruitment of Song Yantong until she teaches you about beekeeping

- Use the hoe to till a plot on your farmland. A single hivebox draws honey from up to 5x5 tiles around it. Leave the tile in the center untilled for placing the box.

- Plant any kind of flowers on the plot but do NOT harvest them!
(Ripe crops and Flowers don’t need to be watered anymore.)
The more flowers bloom in the plot, the faster the honey is generated.

- Build a beehivebox at your workshop. Place it in the center of the prepared plot of blooming flowers. If the hivebox has access to 24 blooming flowers, it will generate 3x honey every morning at 7:00.



.

- The hivebox will start to sparkle golden whenever honey can be harvested. As long as you don’t remove the flowers you can keep harvesting.

- Which sort of honey is harvested depends on the flowers planted.

- 1 or 2 different sorts of flowers will result in Nectar of the dominant flower species. (Rose Nectar and Orange Jasmine Nectar are ingredients in some recipes.)

- Planting at least 4 different flowers in ~ equal numbers (4 to 10 of each) around the hive will produce Mixed Honey, which is necessary for some recipes.

- Planting 3 different flowers (4 to 10 each) around the hive will produce Wild Honey.

- Of course you can set up the hive boxes close together so the flower field area they draw honey from overlap. Just note that the more hive boxes are crammed into the same 5x5 flower area, the longer it takes to produce honey. So ideally put down a hive box all 3 tiles.

- Flowers that produce honey:
o Roses (any color)
o Chrysanthemums
o Sunflowers
o Brassica
o Orange Jasmin

Note: It might be a smart idea to put a low fence between your normal crops and your honey field.
That way you wont accidentally mow down your flowers while harvesting crops with the sicles. Also you can simply jump over a low fence, when you are in a hurry.

How:

- Buy Mulberry Seeds from the Pharmacy or the Q-Pavillon.
Grow Mulberry Leaves on your field and store them. Keep all quality grades.

(You will need a lot of them: 100x Mulberry leaves for every batch of 4x Spiritual Silk / Celestial Silk)

- Start the recruitment of Song Yantong until she teaches you about Silkworms.

- Plant rose seeds. Store Roses of all colors.
(Song Yantong will give you a starting batch, after that you have to either find rose seeds as monster loot in the Lotus, Flower & Teagarden Realm or buy them from the Q-Pavillon, once the Flower Valley trade route is open.)

- Build the Silkworm hut at your Workshop and place it either on your farmland or on the side-plot that becomes available after rebuilding the Hanging Bridge.

- Inside the Silkworm hut, place the Silkworms on the 4 racks at the back wall of the right part of the room.

- You need to feed the Silkworms daily (for 5 days)! You need 5x Mulberry leaves for every rack! (Else they’ll die and you have to start over with new Silkworms. This was changed in previous updates, now the silkworms only progress in their growth on days they are fed. Information provided by @Dancing Serpent.)


.

- The quality of the Mulberry Leaves only changes the probability to harvest Celestial Silk.
Every rack of silkworms has a 5% base chance to produce Celestial Silk instead of normal Spiritual Silk.
Feeding the silkworms with Mulberry leaves changes the chance by the following amounts:

a) 1x leaf Common (grey) -> + 0%
b) 1x leaf Good (green) -> + 2%
c) 1x leaf Superior (blue) -> + 5%

The 'Autofeed' function will feed the silkworms with 5 of the lowest grade Mulberry Leaves you carry in your inventory.
But you can also select each leave manually, if you aim for different grades in the same batch. (For example by feeding common grade to three of the racks and giving superior grade leaves exclusively to the last one.)

- The silkworms sparkle once they are ready to spin their cocoons. Click on each rack to prepare for it.


.

- On the next day harvest the cocoons and put new Silkworms and Mulberry Leaves onto the racks.

Move over into the left part of the room with the three silk processing facilities.

- Put the Cocoons onto the small stove to the right.

- Use the silk spinner in the middle to reel off the Silk.

- Collect the spools with the Silk from the rack on the left.

- Take the Silk and some Roses of different colors to Song Yantong.

- Complete the silk-tutorial quest to give Song Yantong 1x Spiritual Silk and she will offer you to create clothes for you.

(Each costume needs at least 2x Spiritual Silk and several Roses (which roses depends on the coloration of the garnment). The fancier ones also need an extra 1x Celestial Silk on top of that.
Generally you will need a lot more normal Spiritual Silk than Celestial Silk to make clothes, keep that in mind when feeeding the Silkworms with Mulberry leaves.)

- You can buy more Silkworms at the Pharmacy.

- Aside for clothes, you will need some Cocoons and Silk for spell upgrades and projects in the Crafting Cave.

- The bridge can be chosen from brother You's reconstruction list afterwards.

Function:

- The bridge opens a shortcut from Ferry Stop to the Lotus Realm (Yuhua Mystic Realm)

- After you receive a letter from junior sister Li about the Flower Valley shortcut, the bridge allows to enter the Flowers Mystic Realm.

- Two new trade routes become available once the Sect reaches the third level.

- Once Spell-Upgrade Training has been unlocked, Junior sister Li will go on a third expedition to the Desert Realm (Hot Sand Mystic Realm).
After Li returns, the Desert Realm can be visited from the bridge as well.

(- Another new trade route can be unlocked by defeating the boss monster of the Desert Realm.)

To unlock more travelling destinations, complete brother Xie's request for a Sovereign Cactus fruit grown in the Blessed Land and the following Boss subjugation requests.

This will open the Oceanic and the Moon Realm for visiting. Both are difficult to conquer for cultivators, who yet need to reach the Middle Stage of Foundation, though it is possible with enough elixirs and boosts from various dishes.

After growing both raer crops which seeds are found there and following the main quest further, access to the Lava, Blizzard and Poison Realms will be unlocked. Which will require special elixirs for safe passage (look for details in their respective chapters).

The Poison Realm should only be entered after achieving Breakthrough to Core.

When: After the R&D room is built.

How:

- Return to your house at night until you trigger an event.

- Talk with the Phantom.

- Repair the Lake bridge.

(The default is 3 seats and 6 dishes, you can select up to 9 seats and 12 dishes. Not all seats have to be filled to start the banquet but obviously you need at least one guest.)

- Check out and claim rewards for achieved goals when hosting parties.


On this page you can claim the dolls and paintings for the trophy wall - after you served each friend enough dishes to comment on.

On this page you can claim a new set of clothing and decorations for the banquet island for the number of different comments you got for the foods served.
You need to activate the decorations from your inventory to place them.

- Check out your guests food preferences (based on previously hosted parties)

- Host a new party.
(You need to have the dishes you want to serve in your inventory. Quality does not play a role. Just note, that you need to bring various dishes, you can't serve just a menu of 12x Steamed Buns for example.)

You can have up to 12 sect members in your friendlist but there are currently only 9 seats and a banquet can only be held once a day. Best invite the ones who have no easy to obtain gift-preferences with priority to help improving the friendship with them faster.

After you selected the guests and the menu, you can get a preview on the banquet outcome by clicking on the 'View Comments' button. If you have served one of the prepared dishes to the same guest/s in a previous banquet, their review of it will be displayed. You can still make last minute changes to the menu after checking for old reviews.

Your guests will judge the served food by their personal preferences.
(For example brother Chen will like anything with fish inside while sister Li craves sweet dishes).
And you better don't serve turtle soup, when Song Yantong is sitting at the table, unless you want to be murdered in your sleep (just kidding ... maybe).


You will receive 'Smileys' in the colors 'green' (like), 'yellow' (meh), and 'red' (dislike) from your guests, which can unlock different rewards in the Phantom menu.


The opinions of your fellow Sect members about the tasted dishes will be automatically copied into the food library in your notes.

Your friendship with the guests will rise depending on how much they enjoyed the menu.
(You can only get a maximum of 8 friendship points from a single person, no matter how many dishes you serve. So if you have many guests and dishes, try to rather serve something for everyone instead of focusing on the preferences of only a single person.) You should also keep in mind that a dish that received a green smiley during the banquet will be either a +5 or even a +9 present to the respective character.

After you checked out the banquet island, you can construct the Gazeboo for some extra Sect contribution points.


Once it is repaired, there is a chance that using a tool will consume no Stamnia.
However, the first available place to collect the Loam Sandstone required for the Gazeboo is the Desert Realm, so it will take a while to unlock.

When: After Mu Xia joined the sect.

Where: Western Sect area next to the Fishery.

How: Wait for a letter from Mu Xia.

- Talk with Mu Xia and brother You inside the Reconstruction HQ.

- Gather the necessary resources and choose the ‘Kitchen’ from You’s rebuilding menu.

Function:

The Sect kitchen functions mostly like the Inn kitchen but has an additional smaller pot exclusively for simmering (broth, jam etc.), a pot with oil and two basins for deep frying dishes. (There is also a second steamer, in case you want to steam two dishes at the same time.)

After the kitchen is built, Mu Xia’s daily routine will shift and she will spend most of the day inside or near the kitchen. Aside from a short lunch break, she is only returning home for the night.

- Every Solar Term you can pick up a free dish, cooked by Mu Xia from a table inside the kitchen next to the Menu Board.

- Every Solar Term the Menu Board inside the kitchen will show a set of dishes to be cooked. This functions like the 'Kitchen helper'-quests from the inn, you don’t need to own the recipes and the ingredients are provided. However, you can take the meals you cook for this quest home with you. (They can be served at the Banquet Table for example.)

- As long as you have brought enough ingredients along and traded the necessary recipe’s with
Mu Xia, you can cook at the Sect kitchen for free (no rental fee like at the inn) any time of the day or night. Keep an eye on your stamina though.

The 'Garrison' is located on a seperate peak east of the Lecture Hall, accessible via the Cloud Bridge. It consists of three resisdence buildings and a training platform. A sword sigil leading to the crafting cave becomes available as well, once the Main Character learns to fly with a blade.

How:

- Talk with brother Xie at the inn, while he has an Exclamation mark above his head.

- Stand on the free fourth floor-tile to release the seal.

- Wait for brother You’s letter to arrive a day later.

- Gather the necessary materials to build the Cloud Bridge from You’s Reconstruction list.
(Earth Essence is dropped by monsters in the Cave.)

- Wait for brother Xie’s letter.

Save your game!

- Talk with brother Xie at the other side of the Cloud Bridge.
At this point brother Xie should give you the 'Cloud Sword' but there is a bug that sometimes prevents that.
If you don't have the sword in your inventory after this conversation, wait 30 seconds to see if it will appear with delay, if it doesn't, reload and try again.
You may have to completely shut down the game before reloading for the event to work properly.
Save again once you have received the sword.

Repair the Residence:

- Wait for brother Yang’s letter.

- Talk with Yang about repairing the Sect-Residence.

- The Sect-Residence becomes available in brother You's reconstruction list.

Brother Yang wants the residence repaired to use it as a guard station for himself and Xie, as it is still unknown what caused the destruction of the sect.
After the repairs of the building are complete Yang and Xie move in and Xie promises to help with cultivation.

When: After the Sect Residence is repaired.

Who: Xie Wentian

-Talk with brother Xie when he has an exclamation mark.

- Xie will explain that you need to learn the art to fly with a sword, to reach the Crafting Cave at Lianyun Peak.

To master the art however you need to break through to Foundation, which has been locked to you until now. You start the quest to repair the Sect Training Ground.
The Training Ground can be chosen from brother You's reconstruction list.

You can find the scorpions in the Flowers Realm, when you cross the Ferry Stop Longbridge.



Unlock Spell-Upgrade Training:

- Meet Xie Wentian in the Training Ground during a quest to recruit Zuo Li, to unlock Spell-Upgrade training.

- Spells can be leveled up here for a fee and some ingredients. It is also possible to learn upgraded forms of the elemental spells as well.

He requests that you improve three (3) spells before you attempt to breakthrough to Foundation.

- Talk to Xie Wentian again after improving three spells. -> Foundation Breakthrough is unlocked.

- Break through to Foundation.

- Talk to brother Xie again. -> You learn to fly with your sword.

- Follow Xie to the Crafting Cave and talk to him again.



Repair and repurpose the Meditation Room:
-> To rebuild the Meditation room, start the recruitment of Lin Wanxi. It will become her residence.

.

The Crafting Cave can only be reached by flying with a sword from the sword sigil behind the Sect Residence.

Though after visiting once, you can ask You Jinghe to build a Star Track Crystal there for teleporting and Warehouse access.

A magical array keeps the heat contained but allows the energy to be used for creating artefacts and elixirs more efficiently.

The volcanic cave contains an Alchemic Furnace down a few staircases in the southwest.
During daytime Zuo Li will offer his Alchemy recipe trade here.

At night Zuo Li will retreat into his living quarters. The door to his room can be found in the northwestern side of the crafting cave.

The spiritual array is placed on the ground in a niche in the northern wall. After Lin Wanxi has been recruited she will offer an artefact trade there during daytime.

At night Lin Wanxi will leave the Crafting Cave and return to her house in the Sect residence.

-> See chapter "Artefact crafting"

Lin Wanxi will also offer to make a mini-miniature of the crafting cave for you, that, once placed on your farm or in your house, will instantly teleport you over to the crafting cave.
You can find it in her craftable-artefact list among the other mini-miniature modification recipes.

When: After the Q-Pavillon has been built.

Talk with brother Yang about Alchemy when he has an exclamation mark to start the quest "Alchemy".

Give these ingredients to brother Yang:

5x Anima Herb
3x Soulgrass
1x Purple Chili

Purple Chili is the mutated luxury version of the normal chily peppers. The R&D Room has to be built and the Chili research has to be completed before the seeds are sold in the Q-Pavillon.

However, Yang is not confident about the resulting elixirs and the Alchemy project is postponed until later.

You can unlock your first alchemy recipes by researching trade items from new trade routes you open in the R&D room.
However you wont be able to use them nor any alchemy fires you may find, until an alchemy furnace has officially been set up in the Crafting Cave.
Further recipes can be traded with Zuo Li once he has been recruited.

---

Conditions to continue:
- Main Character succeeded at breaking through to Foundation Early stage.
- Zuo Li has been recruited.

How:

- Visit the Lianyung Peak by stepping on the sword sigil behind the Sect Residence for the first time.

.
Xie Wentian will give you a short explanation of the place, but the facilities need to be repaired.

- Wait for a letter from Zuo Li.

.

Talk with Zuo Li on the southwest side of the Crafting Cave, where he has set up his furnace.


Zuo Li explains that he plans to move into the Crafting Cave and use the alchemic furnace there to make elixirs.

As long as the Main Character has the required recipes and ingredients, you can use the furnace to create elixirs as well.


How to use the Furnace:

- You need to have the ingredients for the recipe of your choice in the inventory.

- Every recipe needs a certain amount of time, stamnia and mana to be crafted.

- After you picked the recipe, you have to choose a furnace to work with - which and how many different 'fires' are available depends on how many trade routes you have opened, they can be bought from the Q-Pavillon's shop menu in the last Tab or be unlocked by trade-goods research.
Each fire will significantly change the process or the outcome of the production.

- Play a minigame to create the elixir of your choice.

.

We want to brew a Fish Slowing Elixir.

The ingredients are:
6x Water Ripple Turtle
3x Cold Water Bead

The lowest quality of ingredients in our inventory will be chosen by default.

The brewing with the chosen flame will take 4 hours and cost us 60 Stamnia and 30 MP

The expected outcome are 8x Fish Slowing Elixir and 360 Cultivation Exp.
With some luck we can get 1x Fisher's Luck elixir as an extra.

If the ingredients are available and Stamnia & Mana are high enough, we can choose to switch the furnace.


.
At the start we have the choice between two default furnaces with different types of 'fires', the further to the right on the list a fire is, the more powerful its effect (and the higher the price paid at the Q-Pavillon).

Our choice influences the difficulty of the following minigame, the Time, Stamnia & Mana spent, the resulting number of elixirs, their quality or the chance to get one of the higher tier elixirs.

In the minigame your job is to keep the small flame icon within the limits of the pink moving bar by using the A & D keys.
If you succeed to fill the green progress bar below the furnace before the time limit - displayed by the blue bar above the furnace - is up, the brewing was successful.


.

At the start, Zuo Li offers to trade you some basic recipes (some of them can also be received as research rewards in the R&D room which is the cheaper option to get them).




.

Later on, Zuo Li will upgrade his recipe list for more complex alchemical formulas, including recipes that require the produce of the rare plants from the Blessed Land Harvest Cave.

After you recruited Lin Wanxi, she can be found in the Crafting Cave (or her Residence) and will offer you to trade Artefacts or Artefact upgrades for crafting materials.

She offers four services:

a) Upgrading the Cloud Sword

b) Crafting Farming Items for Special Crops




.

c) Upgrading your Farming Tools


.

The Multiple Refined metal bars which many of her enhancement recipes need, can be bought at the Q-Pavillon in Ferry Stop. After opening the trade route to Hot sand Ridge you have to wait till the start of the new solar term for it to appear under 'Groceries'.
Golden Sand is a rare drop from golden bats in the Desert Realm.

- The Superior Axe allows you to cut trees with less hits than before, also it lets you get rid of the last trees on your side field and the big root blocking the east part of the sunset forest area.

- The Superior Pickaxe also allows you to mine materials with less hits and to get rid of the durable stones on your side field.

- The Superior Fishing Rod allows you to catch legendary fish, which will unlock a few side quests.

- The Superior Gourd will consume less mana for the thundercloud and it will sprinkle water in a broader area. (Since there are automated irrigation wells and octopath wells, this is mainly useful in the Blessed Land.)

- The Superior Hoe can now destroy crops. (This also is a function which is only useful in the Blessed Land for optimizing the elemental setup layout.)


d) Crafting Special Items

Lin Wanxi will trade you some treasures for rare materials.
Aside from new, better storage rings to increase your personal inventory space, she also offers a magical pouch that allows you to access your warehouse from everywhere and tools to assist you with monster-soul catching.
She can also shrink down the size of your teleportation miniatures or your warehouse.

.
Where:

Misty Valley, the entrance opens on the other side of the Hanging Bridge in the rock wall.

Who:

Xie Wentian

When:

After you defeated Muddied Greatsword in the Desert Realm and collected the rare seed of the Sovereign Cactus it was guarding.

Function:

Specialized field.
Grow special rare plants to harvest their produce, which can be used in advanced alchemical recipes.
The fruits are also neccessary to advance the main story.

Note: It never rains within the harvest cave. Since the field is very small, it is also inefficient to set up octopath or irrigation wells. That means you have to water all crops regularly with the gourd, even if it is raining or snowing outside.
While the Jade spirit can assist with watering the field in the Blessed Land, this function seems to be unreliable (bugged).

How:

- Wait for a letter from brother Xie, requesting a meeting near your field.

- Talk with brother Xie.




.

Xie guides you to a magical cave, where you can plant the rare seed of the Sovereign Cactus from the Hot Sand Ridge in the center of a small field.

Note:To progress the main story, you need to fully grow the Sovereign Cactus through all growth stages and harvest a Cactus fruit. Hand that Cactus fruit to brother Xie to unlock the Ocenanic Realm where you will find the next rare plant.



He will also give you a few farming artefacts you can place on the field inside the cave.
(Lin Wanxi can make more of them for you.)
The artefacts when placed influence the growth of the seeds planted in the 8 tiles around them.

At the start you have three Urns and two Banners.

- The Urns absorb energy from the eight plants around them and feed it to the Sovereign Cactus in the middle of the patch.

- Check on the Sovereign Cactus/Seed with 'E'

- The Sovereign Cactus does not need water to grow. Instead at each growth stage it requires
a) Banners of the right element in the correct position around it.
b) Enough of he correct elemental energies from the Urns.


The seed of the Sovereign Cactus requires an Earth Banner to the west and a Wood Banner to the East. (Luckily those are exactly the Banners brother Xie just handed to you at the start.)
It also needs Earth and Wood Elemental energy from the Urns.

The color of a seed pouch can tell you which element a plant belongs to :
Yellow = Metal
Green = Wood
Brown = Earth
Blue = Water
Red = Fire

To make the Sovereign Cactus Seed grow, plant some seeds from brown and green pouches around the Urns you placed on your field.
Ideally those that are currently in season.

- Check the Urns with 'E' to see which and how much energy they are absorbing.
Keep in mind that the Urns can only absorb energy from crops that have been watered.

.

The Banners have a greenhouse function.
If plants are of a corresponding element to the Banner are planted around them (for example Earth Plant & Earth Banner), they can be harvested for their normal yield even outside of their season.

The plants growing around the banners wont add any energy to the Sovereign Cactus on their own, but if you also place an Urn next to them, the Urn can draw double the energy from the plants that are under the influence of the banner.


The Virtues have an 'enhancing' function and will increase the yield of 'in season' crops of the same element within their range. Like the banneers they also enhance the energy absorption from their crops by nearby urns.


The Fantastic Stones will increase the chances for a 'mutation' to occur in the crops around them, so use them, if you hope to harvest Luxury grade (orange) mutated crops.

Note: The Sovereign Cactus growth stages require neither Virtues nor Fantastic Stones but as not all banners are needed during the early growth stages, you could switch those for Virtues or FSs to get the enhancement or mutation boost instead of the greenhouse effect.

You can always set up more blessed farming tools than the formation actually requires, but it cuts down on the amount of crops you can plant so you need to find a balance.

Once the Sovereign Cactus has reached it's final stage you can harvest it for a fruit and a new Sovereign Cactus Seed and either repeat the Cactus growth-cycle or plant a different rare plant instead.


Considering all growth stages of the Sovereign Cactus, the field around it should be tilled like in the following screenshot:

that is leaving 10 spaces for Urns and Banners.

Get the three remaining elemental Banners (Metal, Water, Fire) as early as possible and also two additional Urns from Lin Wanxi, so you are prepared for the later growth stages.
You can get some more banners and urns but the field in the blessed Land is not so big to really require them.

The starting setup for the Sovereign Cactus Seedling should look like this:

The northern free spot is reserved for the fire Banner, the second eastern spot is reserved for the metal Banner. The water Banner first has to be placed in the southern free spot.

But during the last growth stage has to be swapped into the secondary western free slot.
Put Urns into all remaining empty slots.

.

Note: Different Rare Plants need different settings for the Banners and Virtues to absorb energy. After you planted a seedling, always check on it for all growth stages and plan ahead for the layout.They may also need two of the same kind of elemental Banner or Virtue or require Fantastic Stones.

For example the Red Coral sapling requires two Water Banners at the start and later on two Water Virtues (and several others) to make the energy formation work.


There is also a fishing spot on the side of the field, where you can catch the Lionhead Goldfish and their four seasonal subspecies.

.

When: After you return from exploring the Cave for the first time.
Who: Jade spirit
Where: Outside of your residence on the left

You notice a strange green glow and a voice is calling for you.
The spirit of the jade pendant asks you to sow 100x seeds on your field (sounds like a lot but it is easily done within a few days).

Talking with the spirit again unlocks a new feature in the inn: Order a food offering.

The food offering (last option of the menu) can be done once a day.

The food offering will have no effect on the main character but will charge the jade pendant for the day, so it should be done as early in the morning as possible (the waiter will be around starting his job ~ 4am to 11pm).
The daily food offerings will also increase the level of the spirit over time.
The current highest level for the Jade spirit is lv12.


The Jade pendant has two functions:

a) Praying - works only when the pendant has been charged the same day. The effect ends exactly at midnight.

At the start only 5 prayers are available - there will be more as the spirit gets stronger and as you master new skills.
With each level-up of the spirit, a prayer of your choice can be upgraded to be more efficient.

Basic prayers increase the chance of the duplication effect triggering by 50%, Ultra prayers by 75%.
There is a chance upon use that a prayer effect will randomly upgrade into 'immortal' level (100% chance).


Prayer effects

- Good Harvest: Chance to harvest twice the amount of crops.

- Ingenuity: Chance to receive twice the materials when mining, felling trees or scavenging

- Professional: Chance to cook double the amount of food. (Cooking minigame and auto cooking must be completed before midnight to take effect. Doesn't have an effect on cooking tasks from the kitchen questboard.)

- Effortless Profits: Chance to catch two fish in one go.

- The More, The (Better): Chance that defeated monsters drop double amounts of loot.

- Skilled Craftsman: Chance to produce twice the amount of consumeables when retrieving items from processing facilities duch as mills, jars and drying racks.

- Moth in Beehive: Chance to harvest double amounts of Honey and Silk.

- Full of Guests: Friendship gains of the guests at the Banquet Table will be increased.

- Plentiful Potions Chance to create double the amount of potions in the alchemy minigame. (Starting the minigame before midnight of the same day is enough to trigger the effect.)

- Yin & Yang: Change the appearance of the Jade spirit.

- Reap the Profits: The Jade Spirit will water your crops and feed your silkworms for a few days, starting 7am. This prayer will stay active, even if prayer is used again during its duration.
(You still have to harvest and sow and set cocoon racks, collect cocoons & replace the silkworms. The rearrangement of the elemental setup in the Blessed Land is still your job as well.)
(Bug: This function seems to fail sometimes (rainy days?) in the Blessed Land.)

- Learning something New: the rare crop in the blessed land will absorb more energy from the watered crops planted around the urns overnight.

Note: When starting out, the absolute best prayer is the first one 'Good Harvest', which gives a chance at double harvest. Especially if your field is full of spirit grass, when you need several of a mutated crop or you just used a talisman to insta grow everything on your field.
Once the Jade Spirit levels up, one or two random extra prayers will take effect along the choosen one.

b) Spirit (Stone Conversion)

.

- Accessible from either the Jade pendant or your library.
- Works once a day
- You can make a copy of an item that has been registered in your library, in exchange for its price in spirit stone shards.

Not everything can be recreated this way, furniture and some unique or rare items are exceptions.
This feature is most helpful to copy tedius to gather crafting materials or seasonal limited quest items (cicada sloughs, mutated crops, rose seeds etc.).

This ability will get stronger (replicating up to 3x of an item) as the Spirit levels up.

To increase your abilities, you need to collect spiritual power by cultivation.

You can gain spiritual power by farming, scavenging, fighting, cooking, crafting, fishing, visiting lectures or practicing alchemy.

The level of your spiritual power is displayed on your character screen.


The spiritual energy is shown as a silver bar directly below the character.

When the power bar is about full for the first time, brother Yang will contact you with a letter asking for a meeting.
He will then give you a short tutorial about the breakthrough.

You have to complete his mini-tutorial before you are allowed to progress.

Once the spiritual power-bar is full, you can attempt a breakthrough to the next level at any time, as long as you have enough stamnia and mana.

Select 'Breakthrough' from your character screen.
In the breakthrough preparations you need to choose 3 (three) assistant abilities. Which abilities are available depends on the activities you performed to gather spiritual energy. You don't need to activate them all, in fact alchemy will become available only late into the game.
Unfortunately the abilities can only be used during breakthrough and will become inactive again after you succeeded.


.

Confirm by hitting the Breakthrough button, once you are ready and you are taken to your inner battleground to fight your inner demons.
You have to fight several (3) waves of enemies, one of them in the third wave is a double of yourself.

Note: There might be at least one enemy which is immune to physical attacks. Blast it with a spell to progress.

As said above the assistant abilities can only be used during Breakthrough and only once each. To use them you have to actively select them and 'click right' like when you are using a spell.

You can also consume potions during breakthrough, but it will leave you open to the enemies' attacks, if you are not careful. Best use the brief moments between enemy waves to heal or activate a special skill.


After you win the maximum cap on your status growth is raised. -> You can further improve your stats at the Lecture Hall.

You can breakthrough like this twice before you hit a bottleneck.



Breakthrough to Foundation

- Again raise your spiritual energy level to the maximum.

- Foundation-level Breakthrough is denied to you until you unlock Spell-Upgrade training.
(See 'Repair the Training Ground' in the Garrison Section for details.)

- Brother Xie will ask you to upgrade three of your spells. Once you have succeeded, talk with brother Xie again. -> Breakthrough to foundation is unlocked.

Note: It doesn't matter whether you upgrade the same spell three times, upgrade three different spells once, learn three different new spells at lv1 or do a mixture of these options.

Breakthrough to Core

- again raise your spiritual energy to the maximum.

- Zuo Li needs to be recruited.

- You need to have harvested 3 different rare plants (Sovereign Cactus Fruit, Dragon Blood and Phoenix Egg) in the Blessed Land.

- Zuo Li has has gone on and returned from a scouting mission to search for the Poison Realm.

- Use the elixir received from Zuo Li once your spiritual energy has accumulated enough to attempt Breakthrough.
Make sure your Cloud Sword and your spells are upgraded, your character is well rested and eat some defense/attack dishes + any other preparations you deem useful.

- Choose your three assistant abilities in the Breakthrough Menu

- Fight three waves of very strong enemies (Lava and Blizzard Realm types + Inner Demon)

-> Don't forget to schedule Lecture Hall lessons after winning to max out your attributes.

1) The Hanging bridge


.

Priority: Medium

When: The repair option becomes available in brother You’s list after the Sect has leveled up once.
(The Main Hall and several other buildings need to have been repaired already to achieve that.)

Function:

The hanging bridge opens access to a side area on your farm, which is overgrown with weeds and trees. There are also rocks and boulders dispersed in between. Unfortunately a part of the trees and boulders can't be removed until Lin Wanxi improves your tools in the Crafting Cave.

The Side Area can mainly be used for farming, placing decorations, the silkworm hut or placing an extra storage chest.

Aside from stone, lumber and some random free seeds when clearing the place, there is nothing else to be found either at first.

You can gain access to the Harvest Cave at the north end of the side plot field, after you brought back a seed of a Sovereign Cactus from the Hot Sand Ridge.


2) The Fairy mirror

Priority: Low to Medium

When: After the Reconstruction HQ has been built, and you completed a quest to find the blueprint.

How:
- wait for a letter from Yang mentioning a training Realm

- Approach the two children in Ferry Stop while they play near the water wheel to trigger an event.

- Talk with the boy.

- Give the boy (Gou Wa) 2x Ricecake in trade for a broken jade slip

- Give the Jade slip to brother Yang

- Wait for Yang's letter

- Talk to brother You at the Reconstruction HQ.

The Fairy Mirror can now be built from the reconstruction menu.

Where: Directly northeast of your farmland.

Function:

The Fairy Mirror serves as a gate to a small 3 level training mystery realm. Aside from some wood element monsters it only has a Scorpion as a mini-boss on level 3.
You can collect tea-leaves from bushes or gather some lumber, mushrooms and stone materials.


3) The Meditation Terrace

Priority: Middle

When: After the Reconstruction HQ is built.

Where: Directly west of your Farmland.

How: Brother Yang will inspect it one day and suggest you repair it when you approach him. It can be selected from the reconstruction menu afterwards.

Function:

The MC can meditate for regenerating 6MP per hour. Sometimes a reaction test will occur. If a letter ‘WASD’ floats up and you manage to hit the corresponding key before it disappears, the MC gains extra MP.
The platform gets less important later in game once there are more options for MP-regeneration methods.

4) The Valley Entrance

Priority: Low

When: After the Q Pavillon is repaired.

Where: Gate between Ferry Stop and your farmland.

How: It can be selected from the reconstruction menu.

Function:

It will help you passively to increase the mana absorption rate from the floating mana clusters.
Aside from that it is only a decoration.
The materials required will only be available after the Desert realm gets unlocked, so likely not before year 2.

5) Brother Chen's House


.

Priority: Low

When: After the Main Hall and the Sect Fishery pier are repaired, brother Chen will give you a quest to build him a home.

Where: Near the Fishery at the Sect area.

How: It can be selected from the reconstruction menu.

Function:

Chen will move from the inn to his house, his daily routine changes accordingly.
Since some of the required materials can only be found after unlocking the Desert Realm, you'll likely only be able to build Chen's house by year two.

In earlier versions of the game, brother Yang would trade you elements for decoration items called 'Spirit Orbs', which had various monsters trapped inside for display.

The Wandering Vendor at the Ferry Stop Market used to have a 'Light Spell' on sale which could give some illumination at night.

Both mechanics have been replaced by the new 'Soul Catching' system (V0.8.xx).


Instead of the Light Spell, the Wandering Vendor now sells an elementless 'Spirit' Spell, which has a very very low chance to create a display orb with a monster soul trapped inside.

The spell shoots a single, slowly moving ball of energy that does a small amount of damage to any monster it hits. The spell then goes into cooldown for 45 seconds.

If the spell manages to defeat a monster, there is a very low chance that the monster will turn into a decorative monster display orb, that can be set up on your field or inside your residence.
(Note: The orbs are purely decorative, they have NO recovery-assistance properties like other furniture items.)

Note: If you catch a monster instead of defeating it, you will only get the orb as a reward. Keep that in mind, when you need to collect loot from boss-monsters.

Brother Xie can upgrade the spell for you, up to level 7.
The upgrade will increase the damage the energy ball causes to a monster and slightly raise the chance of a successful capture.

To further improve the chances of a successful capture, you can have Lin Wanxi craft a 'Spirit Orb' item for you.

This Spirit Orb needs to be inside your inventory when you go hunting for souls. You need to activate it by using it. It will stay active for 12 hours ingame time which will allow for about 6 attempts at catching something.
However, the Orb will also go into a 24 hours cooldown time itself before it can be used again.

Even with the Spirit Orb to asssist the catching, the success of the spell capturing sometthing is relatively low and seems to be directly related to the strength of the monster targeted.
(Monsters that can be 'one-shot' with the spell seem to be easier to catch than those that have to be weakened first.)

Note: Lin Wanxi can craft a consumeable item that resets the cooldown time of both soul catching artefacts. So if you are completely out of luck in the hunt (for example because some other monster jumped into the spell aimed at the boss you were trying to catch ... again x_x), you can use the Spirit Tower several times during the same expedition with their help.

You will need soul orbs for at least one quest and for one of the customisations of your residence.

When: Earliest during the recruitment of Song Yantong, after you followed the Fox into a strange fire mystic realm.

Right after you leave the fire realm and are about to return to your farm, you'll notice the gate is suddenly re-opening.

(If the event does not trigger as described above, complete a few main story quests first and check back for the fire gate later.)

Investigate to meet a mysterious woman, who claims to be a sect leader from another world.

After some haggling she agrees to trade otherworldly treasures, if you help her with cultivating some otherworldly crops.

She will hand you a few items as prepayment.
Among others she will give you a few bags of dust to sprinkle over your regular crops while they are still in their growth phase.
The ground below those crops will be slightly discolored.
You can use the wind seeding method and hold down 'E' while moving the bag with the dust with 'WASD' to sprinkle the dust on more than one tile.

When harvesting these dusted crops, you will get an additional otherworldly crop on top of your normal seasonal yield.

Which of the 5 sorts of otherworldly crop you get, depends on which element the crop that was originally sprinkled with dust had. (Crop elements are indicated by the color of the bag their seeds come in.)

Note: If you sprinkle the dust on crops that can be harvested multiple times, you will also get otherworldly crops with each harvest.


The screenshot shows the 5 otherworldly crops and the dust needed to produce them.

Mwir (Mysterious woman in red) can sell you more of that dust for some spirit stone shards.

During the day Mwir can be found near the northern fishing spot, where you first met her.
During the night, she will be at the reception of the Inn in Ferry Stop.

Mwir will trade the otherworldly crops for items in her shop. the shop items are refreshed every season.

She also has three unique items that can only be traded once:

- A gourd that will increase your inventory by a few slots permanently when consumed.
- The Peach House
- The Superior Elixir House

The two houses can be used to change the appearance of your residence (ask brother You jinghe at the Restoration HQ), once your residence has reached lv5.
They are likely the first two customisations, you can afford.

Spirit Fox Lair

Conditions: You unlocked the fox-pet. (Brother Xie recovered?)

Who: Mysterios Woman in Red. Talk with her when she has an exclamation mark over her head.

Mwir wants you to help her with raising her own Sect's Fox Guardian Spirit.

Talk with her when you are ready to enter the Fox lair and you will be sent to a single level mystic realm.
.
The realm has no normal monsters and its only feature is a maze, which you have to navigate to encounter the guardian spirirt.
Just go always to the right (your character's pov), you will run into two or three dead ends but just turn around and go right again when that happens and you will get to the exit eventually.

On the other side is an altar where you have to fight the combat form of the guardian fox. Defeat it to get a fox-soul

Talk with Mwir after your return from the Fox Lair and you can use the fox-soul from your inventory to activate a new transformation for your Fox pet.
The transformation can then be activated and deactivated from the pet menu.

How:

- Start Quest series ‘Relapse’ (I – III)

Begins: After the Main Hall construction is completed, at dusk

Who: Brother Yang and Dr. Sun

Where: Inn, Xie’s room

Brother Yang and the Doctor are checking on Xie’s health.
They’ll ask you to find ingredients to make medicine.

This quest will have three stages which all start during dusk at the inn when both Yang and Sun are in Xie’s room. Give the necessary items to Yang and answer any of his letters.

(Most of the necessary herbs can be bought from Dr. Sun or collected in the Sunset Forest. He also sells seeds for Jujube and Anima Fruit seeds.)

However Ginger seeds can’t be bought early in the game. Luckily there is a quest to grow Ginger from sister Ji Yaohua during the 1st year summer and you will be gifted 15 pouches of Ginger seeds. As long as you plant and harvest the Ginger still within the summer season, you will have enough for both Ji’s quest and Xie’s medicine and even a few spares for cooking. If you require more, you can use the Jade pendant to buy a copy of either seed or fruit from your library.

The Ginseng fruit necessary for the quest is a rare, mutated luxury level Tomatoe and is best grown in advance during summer.
They can still be harvested once Tomatoes are out of season, but the chances are lower since the total yield is reduced.


Brother Xie finally wakes up - but he has to stay in bed for recovery.




Condition for contiunation:

Both Song Yantong and Mu Xia have joined the sect.

- Wait for a letter from Yang,
-> Brother Xie is feeling better.

- Visit Xie at the inn.

- Talk with Xie and chose the second answer (You don’t have to thank me!)

- Another visitor arrives and there is a short conversation.

- Talk with Xie again and pick the first answer (I see him sometimes at the staircase leading to
the mountain.)

As some events can only be triggered by reaching a certain progress in the main story but it is hard to determine which and when, I will mark possible conditions to be met with -?-

How:

- You need the 1st axe upgrade, use the axe to cut down the roots blocking the way to the Sunsetforest (SSF)

- Explore the SSF and then talk with sister Li the next day to receive a quest about a mysterious woman.

- Talk with brother Yang.

- Take Yang's letter to the Hermit. (She can be found walking around the SSF every second day during daytime.)

- Report your progress to brother Yang.


- NEW- Visit the SSF during daytime to trigger an event where Song is watching you. (If she does not appear try a day later.) Follow her to unlock access to the Deep Sunset Forest Area (DSSF) where Song has a house.

- Talk with Song.


- Wait a day or two before you enter the SSF again to trigger an event on the western side of the forest, where Song interacts with a Fox -> You learn her name and can give her presents now.

(- At this point you can also trigger an event near the Northern Fishery, west of your House, where you can follow the Fox into a fire realm. Collect the Fire Lingzhi and consume it for a permanent Stamnia boost. Make sure you leave nothing behind, once you leave the entrance will collapse. The event can be triggered during noon and dusk.)

- Prepare a gift that Song likes (for example a Tortoise, other turtles or a mysterious egg from the wandering vendor might work as well) and present it to her.


- Let at least one day pass after handing over the gift.


- Talk with Song, when she has an Exclamation Mark. -> You are given a few mixed Rose Seeds.

- In the conversation with Tingfeng answer with
o First answer – ‘What Mu Xia wants is most important.’

- Talk to Mu Xia. You’ll go visit the Sect Area together.
o Pick the first answer ‘That means…’

- Talk to Tingfeng.

Tingfeng will run off at this point (afraid Mrs. Ye might kick her out of the inn), leaving you with only a riddle-clue (blue rose, white melon, green dumplings and prawn blessed water).

Mrs. Ye once was a cultivator herself and fought for justice with a partner. They were calling themselves Cyan Blue Warrior Couple. (Blue and blue couple fighters.)

(This also explains all the blue garments Mu Xia found in the wardrobe, despite Mrs. Ye only wearing red clothes).

According to brother Yang they were pretty famous before they suddenly disappeared.

One of the late elders of the Guiyun sect apparently was a friend and supporter of them.

That was the reason as of why Mrs. Ye settled in Ferry Stop, near the sect after leaving the cruelty and constant fighting of the cultivation world behind. She considered a slow mortal life raising her daughter a paradise. (She and her partner had an argument and broke up when Mu Xia was born.)

She is concerned that Mu Xia will come to regret her decision to cultivate down the road to immortality and has tried to convince her that she is not fit for it for that reason.

That is also the reason why she threatened Tingfeng with throwing her out of the inn should she not keep silent about the matter.

Mrs. Ye explains that Mu Xia, once she'll start practicing will slowly drift away from the inn and Ferry Stop, going on adventures and only ever look back to what she left behind, once it is too late.

Mu Xia finally convinces her that she needs to experience all that for herself and that whatever is yet to come, she will brave it together with her new brothers and sisters.

- Zuo Li appears in town during the opening day of the Q-Pavillon.

- To proceed recruit Xie Wentian first.


Zuo Li will visit brother Xie during the event that leads to Xie officially becoming a member of the restored Guiyun Sect.


- After the Training Ground has been repaired, wait for a letter from brother You
which requests that you find Zuo Li.

- Talk with Zuo Li.

- Talk with Xie Wentian.

- Meet brother Xie the next day in the Training Ground. -> Spell-Upgrade training is unlocked.

- Start the quest to repay Dr. Sun.

When: After the Training Ground is repaired.

- Visit Dr. Sun's pharmacy andd talk with Dr. Sun.

Sun doesn't want money but requests, that the Guiyun Sect could ask of Zuo Li to sell him some potions or recipes for alchemy formulas.

- Talk with Zuo Li.

- Talk with Yang.

- Talk wit Ji about "genius".

- Talk with Wei Hong about "genius".

- Talk with Xie Wentian about "genius".

- Talk with Zuo Li, follow him to Dr. Sun's Pharmacy and talk to him again.

- Go outside and talk to Zuo Li again. You visit the Sect Area.

She declines for now, claiming that you need to put some more effort in, before she will consider it, but that she likes Ferry Stop and doesn't want to go home yet. She also mentions that she enjoys talking with Tingfeng about casual cultivation.



Conditions to continue: Xie Wentian was officially recruited, Cloud Bridge questline is in progress.

- Talk to Lin Wanxi, when she has an exclamation mark.

When you attempt to recruit her again, Lin sais that sister Ji already tried to recruit her the same way.
This time she delays her answer, mentioning that she'll be able to answer after observing for a few more days.

- Talk with brother Xie about how Lin Wanxi keeps declining the invitations.

Xie explains that there is a reason why Lin has stayed in Ferry Stop and that once everything is ready, he will surely be able to convince her to join the sect.

1) She wants to use the fire array in the Crafting Cave for work.

3) She wants to be called Elder sister by everyone.

- Open up the Hot Sand Ridge Trading Route.


The trading route can be unlocked once the Desert Realm can be accessed through the Ferry Stop Longbridge.

The condition is to defeat the Boss "Mud Epee" (Muddied Greatsword) in the Desert Realm for safe trading.

You can reach it's lair from the sword sigil in Lv2.

Fly through two levels and reach a third where you can dismount. The Epee is floating in the middle of a group of rocky islands northwest of the level entrance.

(The difficulty of the battle is no joke - make sure you are well prepared. It also takes a lot of time to get there so go as early in the day as you can manage and plan for staying most of the next day as well.)

- After you defeated Mud Epee (Muddied Greatsword), go to the R&D-room in the Trade Pavillon and open the Trade route to Hot Sand Ridge at the board at the backwall.

- Talk to Lin Wanxi.
She agrees to join but wants a room to live in.

- Talk with brother You about a home for Lin Wanxi. You Jinghe will ask for a location for it. Yang overhears and suggests to rebuild the Sect's old meditation room behind the Sect Residence.

-> The Meditation Room becomes available in brother You's reconstruction list.

- Build the Meditation Room

- Wait for a letter from Yang asking for a meeting.

You may have noticed that the Trophy Wall on the Banquet Island has an open slot for one more doll.
So there must be someone else to recruit after Lin Wanxi and Zuo Li.

Q: Song Yantong's recruitment is stuck after I gave Yang the broken jade slip, what do I do now?
A: Go to the Northern Fishery, west of your field and try to trigger an event with the Fox.

Q: Xie Wentian is awake but wont get out of bed, what's wrong?
A: You need to recruit both Song Yantong and Mu Xia first.

Q: How do I get the recruitment of Mu Xia started?
A: You need to talk with her mother Matron Ye, when she is standing outside the inn, on two different evenings.
(Yang sends you a papercrane prompt to check on matron Ye once this quest can be started.
Mu xia will send you another one before matron Ye is available for the second talk.)

Q: Junior Sister Li wont go on any trade expeditions, I already tried to befriend her too, why does it not work?
A: You are likely missing some events and side quests with her. Try to look for
- 'Catch the fish thief' (night, near Li's and Ji's houses)
- 'Story Time with Tinfeng' (follow-up to 'fish thief', inn main room)
- 'Distracted Reading' (follow-up to 'story time', near the quest board)
- 'Tinfeng is angry' (follow up to 'reading', Tinfeng has an exclamation mark)
- 'Divinity training' (letter from Chen, near the Sect Fishery)
- 'Catch a turtle' (near the Sect Fishery)

Q: Junior Sister Li is going on the trade expedition but she wants a Lotus Root dish I have no recipe for, I thought she wanted Jujube Cakes, is this a bug?
A: This is not the start of the trade expedition but of a friendship event at 3 hearts. Unfortunately the recipe you need is a souvenir Li will bring back from a trade expedition, so the order of the events got mixed up in your game.
However, since a few upodates you can simply buy the lotus root dish at the snack booth in Ferry Stop

Q: The Trade Pavillon has its great opening, lots of visitors are gathered but the event wont start, what is wrong?
A: The event wont start without brother Yang, check whether he is held up in another event with Dr Sun and Xie Wentian. You will have to resolve that event first. The opening event can be triggered afterwards (if neccessary a day later).

Q: How do I kill that green jellyfish in the mines or during breakthrough?
A: It is immune to all physical damage. Make sure you have a spell equipped (2nd tab of the character screen, drag any spell you have learned to your battle hotbar). And use the right mouse button to activate it during combat.

Q: I fully hit the green jellyfish with a flying sword spell but it still didn't take damage is this a bug?
A: The flying sword spell releases 5 golden swords and consumes mana, if you only sent a single sword flying, that is a normal physical attack. (Check the controls and make sure you use the correct one for spell attacks. Mouse 0 = left mouse, Mouse 1 = right mouse, Mouse 2 = mouse wheel)

This counts a a physical sword-attack!

Q: Where is that miniature of the Main Hall?
A:
- It is hidden in the Sect Area.
- It is outside.
- Check the water.

Q: Where is Mu Xia's lost doll?
A:
It was originally kept in a place only family members and friends may enter.
The waiter saw it recently in a place with lot's of bottles.
- It is no longer inside the inn.
- It is somewhere in Ferry Stop.
- It is inside a building.
- It is in the left room of the Pharmacy (Hui Chun Tan).

Q: Where do I get this 'Mirror Sandstone' I need for my building projects?
A: You need to unlock the Desert Realm to mine it there.
That requires you to recruit Song, Mu and Xie first and also to repair the Ferry Stop Longbridge.
You'll likely not be able to get there before year 2.

Q: I want to use a Harvest Talisman, do I have to water my crops beforehand?
A: No. Watering is not neccessary before using the Talisman. Though, if you have planted crops that can be harvested more than once (soy, mulberry, anima, etc.), you should water them after you are done with the Talisman.

Q: Chen, Yang and Li are offering to go fetch things for me. Will they be away for days? I have other quests going which I might need to contact them for.
A: No, they will do those errands on the side without you noticing. You can still find them in their usual spots.

Q: I went into the Desert Realm to defeat the Muddied Greatsword boss, again, to get a second Sovereign Cactus Seed but I couldn't find any. How do I get another one?
A: You can only ever have a single cactus seed/cactus at the same time.
Once you harvest your full grown cactus, you get a fruit and the new seed from it. You don't have to go back into a Mystic Realm to get another.
(This works the same way for all of the rare plants.)

Q: The Lecture Hall message board doesn't let me set up lessons but I have already hired several teachers.
A: Check your timing - is it the third day of the current solar term and later than noon?
In that case you have to wait until midnight when the next solar term starts, before you can schedule new lessons.

Q: Where do I find a 'raining Petals Porous Stone'? I need it for a quest.
A: The blueprint is a research reward from the Q-Pavillon R&D room.
You need to research all items in a research category before clicking on 'launch' to claim your rewards.

Each season has at least one Festival where you can play minigames and win prizes.
The prizes may vary between the years.

- The inn will offer one additional random dish to order on festival days.

New Years Festival

There are Bunny shaped laterns hidden all over town. Inspect each of them to answer some multiple choice questions.
Reward: Talk with Lü Ran.

Crane Flight Festival

When: Pure Brightness solar term
(Unless you somehow manage to have the Main Hall repaired before the last day of the Pure Brightness term, you'll have to wait till year 2 to take part.)
Where: Main Hall, go inside and check out the crane figurine near the progress board.
How:
This minigame is a race against a timer. To win all three prizes you have to finish in 50 seconds or less.
You got three attempts and will get 3x premium tealeaves for each time participating (max 9x tealeaves).


You are riding a crane and can steer it to go left or right with 'A' and 'D'.
'Left mouse' will speed up, 'right mouse' will slow down.
You have to fly through 16 checkpoints marked by lightcircles.
An arrow will point you into the direction of the next light circle.

Fly as fast as possible through the light circles as they appear but keep an eye on the stamnia bar - once it is exhausted it is impossible to gain more speed until it recovers. Try to rely on momentum and quick tapping for speed bursts rather than holding the mouse button down.
Note that upon reloading the order of the lightcircles appearing might get changed.
Reward: Automatically given after the race.

Dragon Boat Race


When: Summer Solstice
Special: Ask a Sect Member of your choice for to be your drummer before you start the game. You will gain +15 friendship with them for each attempt (max 3x).
Where: Ferry Stop Pier

Who: Talk with Luo Jingguang to start the game.
How:
You are running against a timer.
To win all three prizes you have to finish within 56 seconds.
You get 3 attempts.

Hit the 'WASD'-keys in sync with the directional arrows to speed the boat up until you reach the goal. The rythm will get faster the faster the boat is. A mistake in the sequence will slow the boat and the rythm down.
Reward: You'll receive the rewards automatically after the game.
(If you want the full friendship boost with your drummer, you need to take part in all 3 races, even if you already got all the rewards on first or secondf attempt.)

New Years Eve Festival

Minigame: Find the differences between two pictures.
When: Last solar term
Where: Ferry Stop
How: There are a lot of crates all over town. Find the one that has scrolls in it instead of ignots.
It is located near Lü Ran.
Inspect the scroll-crate to start the minigame.

Reward: Directly from the minigame by clicking on them in the reward-display on the right side next to the pictures.
