Nah what this game was then and now. It's all bout the score rather than what it was back then. Just fun is what it was. (when there wasn't a scoring system) Most played team games then anyway.

I've only played multiplayer with my Age of Kings or Conquerors cd on LAN at that time. My half ruined manual says you can also use an IPX or like you wrote the dial up service. I remember when Age of kings heaven was one of the few forums with strategy ideas. Now new players are coming here watching every SOTL and mimicking pro players, making the game more competitive (Guess what you mean by micro nerds? If you target me, why because of a meme template?). Hope the game will receive as much love as Skyrim or Civilization from the players.

I mainly played online with dial up. No siege. Think it was Time Spy servers? Been too long. Franks ruled every civ then. Wasn't any micro nerds then lol. Things were "slower" for sure.

@KeepnitRealGoWrong : Been playing the game for 16 years beginning with the 1999 cd original version. I have also played the ds version and enjoyed the HD. The game changed with AOE II Definitive and the abundance of build orders on web. This game has such a long story even TheViper can be considered a recent player (Played since 2010). Soon all of us 80's to 00' people will have to let it go someday. This serie is bigger than us. You're free to call me a bloody micro nerd if you want...
