How to boost the draw distance and some visuals in ACS (unmodded)
By Zeptomonkey
1. To improve the draw distance locate the ini file in your documents folder and find the line DistanceLOD=0, this line is what primarily controls the draw distance in the ini. setting it to a higher number will lower the distance where objects are in full detail therefore improving performance if you need the fps.

Note: If you do not see this line feel free to add it under [Graphics]. Also I did try giving DistanceLOD a negative value but from what i saw it seems to just break it although feel free to experiment with it.

2. Find the line FlexibleMotionSimulationFPS=1 this will set clothing items and physics in general to run at a smooth 60 fps rather than being capped at 30. It should be under the tab [Options]. If you cant find this line feel free to copy and paste it under the [Options] tab.
(Credit given to Glenn Stevenson's guide to this fix) ---> https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1099739741

3. Search for the line EnvironmentQuality=4 set this to 5, although from my experience the change isnt drastic but it did help with some minor things. From my experience this seems to set the distance of things that are near you to be rendered further such as grass, leaves, etc.

Note: I tried making this value 6 like it was in AC Brotherhood i think it just defaults back to 4 or 5 though so id stick with those values.

4. Search for the line TextureQuality=2 and set this value to 3 its fairly clear on what it does just helps a bit with distant and near textures making it a bit more seemless however the biggest difference was from buildings in the distant looking more 3 dimensional.

5. Finally locate the two lines called "MinSkipMipTextureSize=512" and "MipMapsToSkipCharacter=0". These will control the actual detail of textures. these values can be either (0, 128, 512). Set both of these values to 0 for the highest quality at a cost to a bit of performance. (primarily based on the amount of available memory)

And after all that's done be sure to save and set the file to read only by right clicking it and checking the corresponding box, then hit apply and your all set enjoy your game.

PS: let me know if you would like a similar guide in assassins creed unity.

Extra: i know there's some controversy about the fog so if you really want to disable it change the line "Fog=1" to 0. however the reason why it is in the game in the first place is for historical accuracy because during the industrial revolution in London there was a constant smog cloud day and night due to all the pollution set in the atmosphere. another thing you can change is PostFX=1 to 0 this will disable effects like motion blur when in carriages and when moving fast on the zipline to get a feeling of momentum so set to 0 if you really need the performance.

Also if you want to disable the intro videos such as warnings and logos when you launch please use frostdiamond's guide here:
