Work In Progress! Update: EA-1.2.2
This guide is a Work In Progress so it is not complete! I will keep adding information over time until it is complete and is my first ever guide on Steam so things will look rough at first!
I will be adding information and updating this guide as I learn new things/confirm information.
This guide is currently being made for update EA-1.2.2 of Remnant Records on 8/10/2022.
Welcome to the Remnant Records General Guide!
In this guide I will inform you on things like Ghosts, Roles, Maps and much more. So if you need a full break down of the game as a whole or a particular part of it explained this is the guide for you.
What is Remnant Records?
Remnant Records is a Ghost Investigation Game. Your main goal is to exorcise the ghost via finding out about it's life through notes and deducing what items are tied to it and bringing said items to the exorcism table i.e. You could find a note describing that the person was fascinated with lighters so one of the items you would look for in the map to bring back to the table would be a lighter.

So the core gameplay loop of Remnant Records is:
  • Search the map for clues about the ghost's related items.
  • Avoid the ghost while doing so.
  • Bring enough of the correct items to the exorcism table to start exorcising the ghost.
That is Remnant Records in a nutshell. Now to dive into greater detail.
Roles
First things first, before you are able to play you must select a Role. Roles in Remnant Records are something akin to classes in other games, each role has unique traits and abilities. There are currently 4 Roles in Remnant Records.
  • The Cartomancer
  • The Medium
  • The Electrician
  • The Musclehead
I will now go into greater detail about each role.

The Cartomancer

Cartomancer is a role that comes with a set of 3 talismans, each with their own uses. To use them you must aim down at the floor and press the "R" key, you can pick up some of the multi-use talismans to use again elsewhere by mousing over them and holding the "E" key and you can swap between the talismans by using mouse scroll.

The Detector
This talisman is used to detect how close the ghost is to it, it starts to glow red as the ghost gets closer, the brighter the glow, the closer the ghost. This talisman can be reused endlessly.

The Trap
This talisman is used to temporarily stop the ghost in it's tracks, you place it down and whenever a ghost gets close enough to it, the trap will trigger, holding the ghost in place for a few seconds. This talisman can be reused endlessly, however it needs 3 minutes to recharge after it traps a ghost. You can see the current progress of the recharge on the talisman by looking at it on the floor, it will slowly fill a red circle around the trap sigil then become a blue circle once it is recharged and able to trap the ghost again.

The Helper
This talisman is used to locate a item relevant to the exorcism. You place it down and it will go off and search the map for the item you haven't found yet, unlocking doors in the process if a locked door is it it's way, It will then jump into the item once you are close enough to the talisman, letting you know what the item is. This talisman is a one time use per contract.

The Medium

The Medium is a role that uses their connection with the dead to sense/see things that other roles cannot. While holding the "R" Key The Medium will close their eyes and begin sensing, everything will become black and sounds will become muffled but you will be able to see the following:

The main ghost room

This is seen as a loose cluster of red orbs vaguely room shaped, this can be seen at all times while using your sense and looking at the room. This room can contain key items for the exorcism and or more notes than normal, this room has a good chance of being locked as well.

The ghost not manifested
This is seen as a few red orbs floating around. Some ghosts will follow you around in a invisible state (not manifested) so this is a good way to narrow down what ghost it is as not all ghosts can do this and to know if its near by without the use of a cartomancer.

The Ghost
This is seen as a heavy tight swarm of red orbs (mannequin pictured here). Everyone can see the ghost in this state but this can be useful if the ghost is farther away in a dark room so it's hard to make out, also seeing the ghost this way doesn't count as "looking" at the ghost as your eyes are closed to use this sense. So some ghosts that are reactive to being looked at can be monitored like this with less danger vs other roles.

The Ghost's movement
This is seen as blue pluses. This is a way to keep track of where the ghost is and how fast it's moving. This works better on some ghosts vs others.

Dead players
In Multiplayer if another player dies, you can see them as their respective role's color orb, this player can also ping with left click while dead, you can see this ping, so dead players can guide you to an item or warn you of danger this way.
The Electrician
The Electrician is a role that can repair the map's breaker much faster and locate it in the dark easier as well as having a strong flashlight that they can activate.

Flashlight
By pressing the "R" key the electrician activates a brighter, farther reaching flashlight for a few seconds. This has a recharge time that is indicated by a battery icon on the screen, once it's full it can be used again. This can be used to see in bigger dark rooms and affects ghosts differently, not all ghosts react to lights but the ones that do are affected by this ability.

Fuse box
Being an Electrician, you can turn on/off the maps fuse box much quicker than any other role, around 2 seconds vs the other roles 7 seconds. You are also able to locate the fuse box in the dark easier than other roles.
The Musclehead
The Musclehead is a role that uses their strength to break down doors and save other players.

Doors
You can break down wooden doors but not metal doors (they are a black color). To break a door it needs to be closed fully and then you must sprint into it by holding the left "Shift" key while moving towards it. This is useful as you can unlock doors without the need of searching for a key, however this has a drawback as you can no longer close the door to block ghost's line of sight or using them to hear a ghost coming in the room. Beware of accidentally breaking down doors.

Saving other players
By sprinting into another player that is being held by a ghost, you can instantly break them free and saving them from being killed and save them from having to spam left click to break free. Be sure that you build up a little speed before running to the ghost as running into them point blank will not set the player free from my experience.

Thank you for the reply. I messed around and saw what you meant. It is a bit harder to see that I expected, but I'm glad that the medium has a unique mechanic that allows them to be their own integral part of a team. Can't wait to see your guide evolve as this game evolves. :)

After checking in game they seem to have reduced the amount of red orbs floating around for an invisible ghost like the shusher, i added some images to the medium part of the guide for reference

When it comes to the Shusher, you should be able to see her via a small amount of red orbs floating around while invisible, i haven't heard of a nerf, ill try and get some screenshots in of the medium's vision to help

Glad to see this guide. It helped a bit as I've become a medium main. I wanted to know if they nerfed the class though. I haven't seen these clusters of the ghosts outside of when their in the physical forms walking around. My biggest case is with the shusher. Can you see the orbs when she's invisible, or do they only appear when she is doing her jump scares?
