Since the game can only have a maximum of 22 bots out at once, you can build up a mass of sentry busters to occupy those bot positions and leave the game unable to spawn certain wavespawns depending on their spawn counts.

You can break out of the softlock by getting rid of the busters. This is usually done by just killing it.

In missions where sentry busters are invincible, the only way to break out of the softlock is to hope that they self-detonate through RNG, intentionally detonate another buster right next to them, or force a self-detonation using heavy rage.

You typically shouldn't have enough time to keep that many busters alive. Either the wave ends too early or the busters just die. However, on endurance missions with invincible busters, this softlock exploit can be done relatively easily.

Note that you typically cannot kill sentry busters with 1 melee hit. I gave the sentry busters extreme melee vulnerability to easily get rid of one for demonstration purposes.

Shown in this demonstration is a group of 20 scouts spawning after I kill the first scout.

In another attempt, I initially exploit 3 sentry busters then kill the first scout. Since the mission can only spawn 20 scouts at once and 3 bots are still alive, the 20 scouts cannot spawn because it would make it 23 active bots which exceeds the maximum.
After killing 1 sentry buster--leaving 2 busters alive--the 20 scouts promptly spawn, putting it exactly at 22 bots active.
