How to get Black Keys
Here is how to get Black Key.


Nantonium Strongbox in Nightmare Mode
A Black Key is included in a Nantonium Strongbox obtained in Nightmare Mode with 5% chance.
Requires a character level of 35 or higher.
Probably, a Black Key is not included in a Nantonium Strongbox obtained outside of Nightmare Mode.

To get more Nantonium Strongbox, buy "High Roller" before starting the mission.
Its effects are as follows.
  • Increased Strongbox drop chance (self +3%, team +1%)
  • Strongbox quality increased 1 step
  • x3 chance for Thulium(Rank7)
  • x2 chance for Nantonium(Rank8)


Event Reward
You can get a Black Key as a reward for events.
Level 15 or higher is required to play events.

The top percentage of your points determines the probability of getting a Black Key.
  • Top 1%: 10.0%
  • Top 10%: 4.0%
  • Top 25%: 0.5%
  • Top 50%: 0.0%
  • Top 75%: 0.0%

There are three types of events.
  • Last Man Standing
  • Virus Samples
  • Apocalypse

It seems that whether Black Key or not is obtained is determined by some value of your account.
You can change the presence or absence of the Black Key by playing a mission, and by repeating it, you can finally get a Black Key.

You can buy Black Keys in Faction Armory.

Black Keys can be bought with real money.
  • Epic Pack (1x Black Key)
  • Nightmare Veteran's Pack (10x Black Keys)
  • Nightmare Veteran's Pack (10x Nantonium Strongboxes. Each Nantonium Strongbox has a 5% chance of a black key in addition to its contents)
  • 1x Black key
  • 5x Black key
How to avoid wasting Black Keys
This is a method to get back the black key when you check the inside of the black box and find the item you don't need.

It works for black strongboxes immediately after missions, Faction Armory black strongboxes, and event reward black strongboxes.

Note: This method does not work for black strongboxes on "Elite Inventory" screen.
Note: This method was confirmed in Version 2.0.1. It may not be possible to use this in the future.
Note: You must have at least one black key in advance.

Follow these steps.
  1. Get one (or more) black key in advance.
  2. Play any mission.
  3. Get one (or more) black strongbox.
  4. Complete the mission.
  5. Open that black strongbox.
  6. If you don't want the black item, kill sas4 app by typing Alt+F4 or clicking X(Close) button before doing anything else. That way, you can keep your save data just before opening the black strongbox.
  7. Start sas4 app.
  8. Select the character.
  9. Select "Open Later" or "Discard" for the black strongbox.
You can see that you have not lost the black key on "Elite Inventory" screen.
How to get Black Strongboxes
Here is how to get Black Strongbox.
Up to five can be held.


Enemies
If your player is level 25 or above, you can get Black Strongbox from enemies.
Black strongbox is 1-8 rank strong box with 0.5% chance of changing to it.
In other words, it changes to black at a rate of 1 in 200.

To get more Black Strongbox, buy "High Roller" before starting the mission.
Its effect has already been written above.


On The Floor
Shortly after you start a mission, you may find some Black Strongboxes on the floor of that map.
This is especially appropriate for Faction War missions. Because the location of Strongboxes will appear as a yellow dot on your radar immediately after you start the mission.
Other maps have secret places and you cannot instantly confirm the presence or absence of Strongboxes.

Repeat the following steps.
  1. Play any mission in faction war as single player
  2. Check your radar for the location of Strongboxes (yellow dots)
  3. If there is no Black Strongboxes, QUIT and go back to step 1
  4. Die when you pick up all Black Strongboxes (never QUIT to avoid losing it)
  5. Done


Event Reward
Every Saturday or Sunday event you will always get a Black Strongbox as a reward when you reach the top 1%.

Which black items you can get depends on your character level.
By the way, your character must be at least level 25 to open the black box.

So I used characters of various levels and opened over 1000 black boxes for each.
The relationship between black item appearance rate(unit:%) and character level is shown in the following table.

Ninja Kiwi, the developer, officially admitted that it was a bug.

The Black CM 330 should be available from black strongboxes when a player is level 26.

Unfortunately, for the Black HVM Kevlar set, there looks like there is a bug that is preventing those from being dropped. We can look into it, but sadly we can't give you a timeline for a fix on that :(

So we don't get any black armor collection rewards. I hope it gets fixed soon.
How to get black gun/armor you want
To get the black gun/armor you want, first you have to match the level of your character to that item, then open many black boxes.

When the black item in the black box is determined depends on the situation.
  • If you are playing a mission, black items are determined when you pick up a black box.
  • In the case of the black box on the inventory screen, the black items change as the character's level changes.
  • In the case of the black box rewards for the top 1% of daily events on Saturday or Sunday, the black item is determined when the application is started.
  • In the case of the black box as black collection rewards, the black item is determined when the application is started.
  • In the case of the black box in the faction armory, the black item is determined when you join the faction.
If you have the ability to go back in time, you will be able to get and open a black strongbox for daily event and black collection rewards and faction armory many times, you will finally get the item you want.

Update: During a medical terminal faction war run there was a black box on the floor (not dropped from enemy)

I currently have no evidence that the black box was on the floor at the faction mission. The probability of a box turning black is 0.5%. That probability is not high.

When to open the black box depends on your objective. If you want stronger guns and armor, have a higher level character open the black box. If you want lower black items for the purpose of completing your black collection, have a lower level character open the black box.

have you ever actually got a black strongbox on the floor during a faction war mission? the yellow dots on the HUD method. ive been doing it for a few hours and no luck so far

perhaps, "an indefinite amount of time as long as the next action you take is closing the game". i have never waited long. for example always less than 3 sec in my case.
