Shadows in the Forest (Actually Working Edition)

MrMetroid and Mendiguestus got some preliminary work done on this game, for which I thank them, but they never managed a fully functional board game--largely due to the inability to actually hide in the crooks of the trees.

This version features entirely custom assets, including shadowling figurines that can take off their masks, 3 designs of hiding places with proper collision, a rulebook, a lightswitch, and a glow-in-the-dark D6.



Deep in the forest live the Shadowlings, mythical creatures who dwell in darkness. You have heard stories of these creatures, but no one has ever seen one in the light. Every night, you set out with your lantern; but every night, they manage to avoid its captivating light. Will tonight be the night you catch them all and prove once and for all the legends are true?

Shadows in the Forest is a one-player-versus-many hide-and-seek strategy game where the seeker attempts to catch six shadowlings in the light of a lantern. The hiders can move anywhere on the board at any time; while the seeker must walk slowly on the path. However, the seeker has a surprise advantage: the hiders cannot move anywhere the lantern's light falls, or they freeze on the spot!



Shadows in the Forest (Waldschattenshiel) was invented by family-owned German toy company Walter Kraul GmbH. In the original, players played on a hand-made board, lighting their path with a candle. The mass-produced version this mod is based on was licensed by ThinkFun.
