You deal somewhere around 1.5-2x more damage with stickies against tanks depending on where it detonates.

The closer it detonates to the center of the tank's hitbox, the more damage it will do. However, once you get so close that it detonates inside of the hitbox, then it deals drastically less damage.

The best strategy for attacking a moving tank with stickies is to walk backwards facing front of it and aim just outside the tracks parallel to where the tank is moving. Just outside of the hitbox on either the tank's left or right track is the best spot.

Since timing is semi-crucial to perform this strategy, you must be cognizant of the stickies' arming times. This is especially true when using the scottish resistance.

With a fully upgraded firing speed and damage, a sticky demo using this strategy deals the absolute highest tank dps in the game when crit without reloading.

When placing a sticky trap, it is best to put it in the most condensed pile you can and detonate the trap right before the tank's hitbox crosses over the trap. Since it is difficult to estimate the tank's position, it is best to place the trap directly in the middle of the tank's path and stand perpendicular to the path while carefully watching as the tank approaches the trap.

Shown in this demonstration is a stock sticky with fully upgraded damage and always crit.
The first sticky is detonated at the front of the tank inside of its hitbox, it deals 369 damage.
The second sticky is detonated just outside the front of the tank's hitbox, it deals 623 damage.
The third sticky is detonated on the tank's tracks just outside of its hitbox, it deals 645 damage.
