First one was definitely the worst, second was slightly better and improved overall.

Storyline:

"A group of college students travels to a mysterious island to attend a rave, which is soon taken over by bloodthirsty zombies."

House Of The Dead is a 2003 action horror film directed by Uwe Boll, from a screenplay by Dave Parker and Mark Altman, with a story by Altman and Dan Bates. Based on the video game franchise of the same name by Sega, it is not a direct adaptation of the individual entries; Boll described the film as a prequel to the original 1996 game. The film takes place on a fictional island infested by zombies, forcing survivors to fight their way off. House of the Dead was Boll's first film to be released theatrically, in addition to his first video game adaptation. A sequel was released to home media in 2006.

A tie-in comic serving as a prequel to the 2003 film of the same name. It was written, illustrated by Eli 5 Stone and published by Artisan Comics Group.

A director's cut of the film was released on DVD on September 9, 2008 distributed by Lionsgate. This version features new dialogue, alternative takes, pop-up commentary and animation from the original video game.

House Of The Dead 2 (alternately titled House Of The Dead II: Dead Aim) is a 2005 American action horror film and a sequel to the 2003 horror film House Of The Dead. It is based on the video game series of the same name and the 1996 video game. The film was directed by Michael Hurst. It premiered at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain on October 14, 2005, and premiered in the United States on the Sci Fi Channel on February 11, 2006.

A third film, originally titled House Of The Dead 3, had been discussed since mid 2006. Mark A. Altman said: "It's a completely different approach to the material than the first two films and I doubt it will even be called House Of The Dead 3." The film directed by Patrick Dinhut and starring Dean Cain, which ended up with the title Dead And Deader when premiered on Syfy in December 2006 and released straight-to-DVD in 2007. No House Of The Dead references were included in the final film.

In December 2016, Variety reports that Stories International and Circle of Confusion will produce a new House Of The Dead film.

The House Of The Dead has been, along with Resident Evil, credited with popularising zombie video games as well as re-popularising zombies in mainstream popular culture from the late 1990s onwards, leading to renewed interest in zombie films during the 2000s.
