The Tools
All you need is a programm called "Image Composite Editior". It is a tool developed by Microsoft, but sadly discontinued and officially not available anymore! So you have to use Google and find it for yourself, because I have no idea how Steam reacts to specfic links!

Always use download links/services you trust!

For further image editing (which is not necessary at all) I suggest you to use "GIMP" (GNU Image Manipulation Program). It is 1:1 like Adobe Photoshop but is totally free, open source and also has a lot of addons you can use!

Preparation
To create a perfect (landscape) panorama, the game needs to have certain requirements:

  • A first-person view with a FOV of ~80-90 (More or less should be okay as well, but it might cause some glitches!)
  • If it is a third-person game, you should be able to either hide your character or go into a free camera mode (Mods/Tools)! Some games even have a photomode, so it is highly suggested to use that one instead of doing it manually!
  • Being able to switch off the HUD (There are a lot of games where you can do this, but mods are also a way to switch off the HUD).

There is even a Guide for freecams!:

It is also possible to do a character shot like this. I will use the game "Monster Hunter Rise" to demonstrate how it works! I used the ingame vanilla photomode!

The screenshots I made are these:

The way I made these screenshots can be seen below!

On my first screenshot I focused the end of the "Lance", which is "Point A".

*SNAP*

Now I moved my camera a few degrees to the right. "Point A" is on left side (But still part of the screenshot/display!) and "Point B" is now the new center of my picture!

*SNAP*

The same thing happens to screenshot number 3 (Move your camera further -> Do a Screenshot -> repeat!)

This can go all the way around until you have done a full circle and captured 360° around your camera point! You an also look up/down and redo these steps to get even a more bigger panorama not only capturing the landscape but also the sky and the ground! Youcan experiment a lot!

Also if you do ingame screenshots via Steam:

  • Go to the Steam settings, In-Game tab.
  • Check Save an uncompressed copy.
  • Click on Screenshot folder and set a dedicated folder for your Steam screenshots.
  • Don't forget the Screenshot shortcut key.
How to use the Tool (ICE)
Image Composite Editor (ICE) is a tool that makes it super easy to stitch pictures together. This is all the program does! Simply Drag&Drop the content into the program and it does everything on its own!

1. Start the program!

2. Add your Screenshots!

3. Press on "Stitch" (On the top!) and wait until the program is done.

4. Now your Screenshots are merged into one.

5. Change the perspective as you like (feel free to play around with the presets):

6. Go to "Crop" and crop your image!

7. Go to export and save the image on your PC!

And that is the whole trick!

"But how do I add my panorama to my screenshots?"
Just go to your Steam screenshot location, which is usually here:

.....\Steam\userdata\{YOUR USERNUMBER}\760\remote\{GAME ID}\screenshots

Just open up the original screenshot (you want to replace) with an image tool like "Paint" and copy/paste your panorama into it! Save it and there you go. Also don't forget to change the thumbnail (subfolder) as well!

Now you just go to your "Screenshot" section on your profile and upload it as usual (Sometimes you might have to restart Steam to see the new and updated version of your panorama!)
