Hey!
I'm Phoenix and I've been trying to make my steam profile more unique/aesthetic for a while. I always struggled to kind of understand ALL the ways you can make your profile unique. By trying different things for a while now I discovered some tips and tricks that might help y o u out with your profile but... on a budget (cuz I'm a broke ass college student xD)

We will go thru some basic questions and answers like:

  • Why even have a nice profile?
  • Is it expensive?
  • What colors should I use?
  • Is it necessary?
  • Do I need years and years on my steam profile?
  • How quickly can I level up?

and some templates etc.

So...what are you waiting for? Let's get started!

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
As i mentioned before here are some questions people usually ask:

  • Why even have a nice profile?
  • Is it expensive?
  • What colors should I use?
  • Is it necessary?
  • Do I need years and years on my steam profile?
  • How quickly can I level up?

So lets answer some of them:

Why even have a nice profile?
No one said you HAVE TO have a beautiful/unique/different/aesthetic steam profile. And if you are not the type to bother with that, that's okay too but there are people who love to invest in having a nice profile and I'm one of them (but on a budget).
Nice-looking steam profiles are just like...a work of art honestly. They are pleasing to the eye and I could stare at them for hours xD You can include anything you like in them. Do you like anime? make it anime based. Maybe you prefer all pink? make it all pink. Or maybe... Do you like a simple black and white type? make it that you can literally make it anything you want.

Is it expensive?
Well...I'm not going to lie to you. To some extent is free but to make your profile really stand out ofc is not cheap. There are some things you can go around them and get the same results but on a budget as I did. But there will be some money involved I can not lie. But then again... some people spend large amounts of cash on this and I don't blame them, but I'm really not one of them xD

What colors should I use?
You can use literally any color or theme you want. You can choose black, white, pink, green...ANYTHING or go by a theme like idk...anime? marvel? csgo? barbie? anything. It's literally up to you :D

Do I need years and years on my profile?
No ofc not. I had my steam profile for a little bit over 2 years now and I started ''fixing it'' not even a year ago. So no ''years'' do not matter that much. If you want to do it quickly you'll probably have to spend a little more. But in the long term and if you take it slow is usually really cheap.

How quickly can I level up?
Leveling up is quite easy till level 50...then it gets harder and harder every 10 levels because you need more xp for each level. Leveling up starts with 100xp / per level till level 10...after that, you will need 200xp / per level till level 20 and so on. The fastest way to earn levels is by crafting badges. Each badge no matter the price of the cards will give you 100xp but more on that later.

BADGES
Free Badges
Steam badges are the easiest way to level up, especially in the time of steam summer sale Some of the badges. Like steam summer sale badge, gem maker, years of servie or community leader are free and anyone can get them.

Steam summer sale badge:
Sometimes you get the badge for free after completing some tasks in the time of steam summer sale that happens once a year

Gem maker badge (100XP)
To get this badge you need to turn one of your things from inventory in to gems
(You click on your inventory and on the item you want to turn in to gems and click ''turn in to gems'')

Years of service badge (50XP / per year)
You get this badge after a year of creating your account. Badge levels up by itself every year since the creation of your account. Each year gives you additional 50XP

Community Leader badge (500XP)
You obtain this badge after completing certain tasks that are explained and pictured under the badge when you click on it.

Steam Games Badge
Another free badge is the one you get for purchasing games. Ofc means spending money on games but there are also some free games that give you the ''+1'' for this badge but they are rare it mostly counts for the games that you buy. This badge works a little differently. You get the badge at a specific number of games that you purchase. It starts with the first game you buy. You get the ''one stop shopper'' number ''1'', next one comes at 5 games, then 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000 and so on.
First badge gives you 100XP, 125, 150, 200, 250, 325 etc.

Steam Awards Nomination Committee (0XP)

Another free badge you can get is this one. But I think it doesn't bring you any additional XP. Is just the badge you get for participating in nominating steam games (I think it happens once a year). Its a 0XP badge but It's always nice having new free badges on your profile.
Leveling Up With Badges
The easiest way to level up on steam is ofc with badges. Each badge gives you 100XP.
Leveling up is quite easy in the beginning.

Levels:
  • 1-10 = each level is 100xp
  • 11-20 = each level is 200xp
  • 21-30 = each level is 300 xp

and so on...
Each badge has 5 levels so for 1 complete badge you gain 500XP + you can also craft the foil version which only has 1 level and gives you 100XP (but foil badges are more expensive so I wouldn't recommend them)

Buying Cards
  • So it does get harder to level up over time. The smartest way is to pick out games that cards are the cheapest. And always go for normal cards no foil cards (foil cards are more expensive, for ex. normal sims4 card is 0.04$ and foil card is 0.18$ so for paying for lvl 5 normal badge you would pay 2,5$ and get 500XP and for foil badge - which only has 1 level you would pay a bit over 1$ but only get 100XP)

  • To buy cards you go under your badges and for each purchased game you will get 3-5 card drops. You scroll down and there you have ''buy remaining cards on the market''. Steam will automatically search for the cheapest price for each card that you're missing.

Trading Card Bots
  • One of the cheapest ways to get the cheapest cards and XP is by trading bots on steam. But BE CAREFUL which bot/account you trust. Some accounts are scammers so do your research first.

  • Trading with bots is quite easy. You add the bot and he will immediately message you. For the help with all commands and such, you also have all written on their profile.

  • I won't list any of the bots as I don't want to be responsible for anything that happens so use them at your own risk but there are quite a few bots on steam that can help you out.

Level Up By Participating In Seasonal Events
  • Steam occasionally hosts special events where you can purchase games at discounted prices, as well as complete specific tasks that yield XP (Experience Points).

  • The two most well-known events, which are hosted annually, are the Steam Summer and Steam Winter sales. However, there are also other “irregular” events.

  • The best way to stay updated on future events is by visiting the official Steam Upcoming section.

  • During seasonal events, users often have an opportunity to earn exclusive or limited badges. If you want to level up your Steam profile, it’s important to be active on the platform during these periods.

Why would you want to level up?
Here is why:
  • 1. People with a higher level profile are more trusted and reputable.
  • 2. Every level gained gets you 1 Emoticon,1 Background, and 5 additional friends list spots.
  • 3. Every 10 levels you get a new profile showcase slot which you can use to pimp your profile!
  • 4. Every 10 levels increase your chance of booster pack drops by 20%

When your Steam profile reaches a high level, such as the profiles you can view on the Steam user leaderboard, every additional section is unlocked.
This means you will have quite a lot of creative freedom to display whatever you want to have visible on your profile.

PROFILE
Where Do I Start?
Well if you are a low level (like below 5 or 10) you should probably start with:
  • 1. Owning a Gem badge
  • 2. Owning a community leader badge

Also, check if there are any steam awards/summer sales etc. where you can obtain your free badges.

Profile Settings

In steam profile settings you have a few options:
1. GENERAL
  • NAME - Where you can change your name - you can use ''Fancy Text Generators'' to generate different fonts to ''spice up'' your profile with different fonts such as: 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐱, ᴘʜᴏᴇɴɪx, 𝓟𝓱𝓸𝓮𝓷𝓲𝔁, dɥoǝuᴉx, Ⓟⓗⓞⓔⓝⓘⓧ... etc.
  • COUNTRY - You can also add your country in the general settings which could help other gamers to know where you are from so you can easily find new teammates.
  • SUMMARY - Another thing you can customize in your general setting is ''summary'' where you quickly explain some main details about you etc.

Avatar and Frame
In the avatar settings, you can change your profile picture and ofc your avatar frame.
  • For ''aesthetic'' purposes you should probably match your profile/avatar picture to the theme of your profile. (For ex. if the whole theme of your profile is certain anime match your profile picture with the theme, or if the theme is color pink match it up for best results)
  • The frame should probably match too. Ofc you cant get an ''anime'' frame so you can just match it by color it's the easiest option and most effective. The frames can only be bought in the steam points shop for 2000 points (around 20 bucks) OR earned on steam events.

Profile Background
  • One of the main things is ofc the profile background. You can get steam backgrounds from the community market for under a dollar but if you really want to stand out you can purchase a background from ''steam points shop'' with your steam points (you get steam points by buying games.
  • For every 1$ you sped you get 105 points and each animated background is 2000 points so...a little below 20 bucks. So the ''cheaper'' option would be buying a still background from the community market.

Mini Profile
  • The mini-profile can only be seen when you hover over the person on a friends list without clicking on them so is not AS important as the profile background. You can buy them in steam points shop and each cost 2000 steam points so again around 20 bucks.
  • But when you do choose to buy a mini background try to either thematically or by color match it to the theme/color of your profile. By color is easier in my opinion.

Theme
Theme is a tricky one. If you have ''an aesthetic'' that matches already existing general themes that is great. But steam only has 6 different themes:
  • - Default theme (blue-green-pink theme)
  • - Summer theme (green and yellow)
  • - Midnight theme (dark blue)
  • - Steel theme (gray-ish)
  • - Cosmic theme (pink and green)
  • - Dark mode theme (black)

But if your profile doesn't suit any of these colors and you would for example need ''all red'' theme you would need to buy it from steam points shop under ''game profiles''.

Featured Badge
  • The featured Badge is such a small detail if you're only using that one badge in the top right of your profile but it can make a staple peace on your profile if it matches in color or if it's super rare.
  • Badges would be more important if you use them to showcase them on your profile as multiple with ''featured showcase'' and make them match your profile by color etc.

Favorite Group
Favorite group is not really that important but if you want the littlest detail to match your profile you can create a group and match its picture to your profile or join a group with a certain group that is matching your theme.

Featured Showcase
  • Featured showcase is something you get after reaching certain levels. For every 10 levels, you gain 1 featured showcase. With that, you can completely change your profile in the most unique way.
  • You can showcase your awards, artwork, steam guides, reviews, favorite games and so on.
  • It really helps your profile come to life especially if you pair artwork with your background and make blend all together.

  • If you pair everything together in one big art of a profile it should end up looking amazing.
  • In the next few chapters, ill explain some other tips and tricks to make that happen.

FEATURED SHOWCASE
Rarest Achievement Showcase
  • If you are really grinding the achievements to the max and trying to reach the rarest ones on steam you should probably use this to show them off.
  • Although I really wouldn't recommend them if you are going for the ''aesthetic vibes''. Rarest achievements showcase changes on their own depending on what achievements you get next and which one is rarer than the other. And because you cant change the color of them it really won't benefit your profile unless they are really rare and highly known.

Game Collector
  • Game collector showcase is usually used if you really have a massive and I mean a massive amount of games to ...you know? ''Show Off'' . Especially some of the expensive games
  • Or you can use it to just show off your favorite games
  • Eather way it would be hard to match them (even by color) to the whole aesthetic of your steam profile so I wouldn't personally recommend using them

Item Showcase
Item showcase is usually and mostly used by either CSGO players OR RUST players to show off their skins.
If you're not a huge csgo and rust player this one will probably be pointless for you but IF you do have some skins in the same color as your profile it would be a cool addition to use them for spicing up the look of your profile.
But don't be surprised if people msg you for trades - especially if you have some expensive skins

The other option is the fact that some games sell "packs" of items that typically don't have anything to do with the game and people buy them and put them in their Item Showcase. But they do get quite expensive.

Badge Collector
Badge collector is one of those showcases that will come in handy. If you pick this showcase and then pick ''selected badges'' you can select exactly which badges you want to showcase, and with that, you can easily color or theme match them to your profile.

Screenshot Showcase
Screenshot showcase is one of the easiest ways to make your profile shine. All you have to do is:
  • 1. Take a screenshot in-game
  • 2. Pick a random picture from google that matches your profile/ that you like
  • 3. Locate the screenshot in your files on your computer
  • 4. Use paint app to copy and paste the picture from google onto the screenshot and save it
  • 5. You have a brand new custom ''screenshot'' that you can use on your profile.

Custom Info Box
Custom info boxes are a great way to add something new to your steam profile and at the same time tell more about yourself to the visitors of your profile.
Here are two of the guides that helped me out the most with my custom box:

https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1922401556

Favorite Group
  • One thing you can do with the groups is join the groups that match the color or theme of your profile so they display themselves on your profile.
  • The second thing is displaying 1 group as your featured showcase to add something new to your profile. Or you can create on yourself ofc its free.

There's a guide that will help you out with that:

or you can use one of them that matches up your profile the most on your ''favorite group showcase''

(Featured) Artwork Showcase
Artwork showcase is probably the main thing you should use for making your profile pop. You can make it match your background. You can download some of them for free if you don't know how to make them yourself. Or you can buy them or get them custom made for a few bucks.
