Santa Fe Shortline

A small switching layout set in the American Southwest/Texas between the 1980s and the present day.

This layout has two loops that are set up for continuous AI running--one in the middle of the layout and another one around the edge (the outer loop can run two trains in opposite directions) with staging behind the walls. The smaller loop and industries were designed with smaller 4-axle locos in mind (like GP9s and GP38s), but most diesels fit with no issues. This layout was was made from a track plan that had the Santa Fe as the prototype, but many railroads look just fine on this layout (particularly Southern Pacific and Union Pacific).

I designed and built each building based on the size of ABStudio's American Freight Expansion locos and rolling stock, but the default locos and rolling stock fit nicely too.
