ODDWORLD: MUNCH'S ODDYSEE MUSIC, SFX & MOVIES MOD/FIX by DeeDyne

-INTRODUCTION:
Hi there, DeeDyne here! o/
I've made this very simple mod to fix the broken music inside the new 2015 port (and potentially any port that supports pre-recorded OGG audio files, pre-rendered WMV video files or any other format).
What I've done is I've ripped all the possible music variations/improvisations the original XBox game makes, mixed them as accurately as possible and layed them out in an OGG loop-like format, which is what the new versions of the game use.
It was a ridiculously long and laborious work, but it payed off, especially when you hear and see the differences.

-INSTRUCTIONS:
First, if you want to keep the original game files without reinstalling the entire game from scratch, browse the game files and make yourself a backup of the entire game and store it wherever and however you see fit.
Then to apply the mod, all you have to do is copy the files I've provided in my own archive and paste them inside the game folder (on Steam it's under the usual "steamapps\common\Oddworld Munchs Oddysee" folder). You will be soon prompted to both "Replace all files?" and "Merge folders?" alert boxes. Say "Yes" to all and replace all of them. If "Merge folders?" dialog boxes do appear, click the checkboxes that say "Apply to all" and keep clicking "Yes" until it's done.

-WHAT THIS MOD FIXES:
Broken music loops;
Broken/skipping audio or brutally compressed audio in every movie clip (All languages, including English);
Corrupted audio clips from all languages except English. A good 90% of them have been decoded incorrectly. Now they have been re-ripped from the respective XBox discs and properly re-converted;

-ADDITIONAL MINOR FIX:
Replaced 28 sound effects in the main "oddio" folder. Some have been exported incorrectly and others had way too low of a volume with excessive reverb and interpolation aliasing.

Have fun! Enjoy the mod and especially the no longer broken music! :D

QUICK TIP:
When entering a level after completing the previous one, a bug can occur.
The music is supposed to dynamically morph between patterns (whether there's companions following you or enemies attacking you).
What can happen is that the music can get stuck in one single pattern configuration without ever dynamically morphing. For example, even if there's action, the game may keep playing the music pattern that plays when there's no action.
The foolproof solution to the problem is to simply save the game, quit from the game application entirely, relaunch it from scratch and load the save.

THANK YOU! I was playing this for the nostalgia and knew something didn't feel right. Paramite run was waaay too quiet compared to what I remembered from 20~ years ago. Appreciate you putting this together.

DeeDyne Is there any Specific type of Encoding used? I'm running it under Proton - and I'm wondering if I need any certain type(s) of Media Playback DDLs.

Thanks so much for the Mod! I'll update you soon :rufussmile:

Thanks for uploading this, one step closer to making this the definitive version of the game. I remember how giddy i was when I realised just how easy it is to replace assets in this game. First thing I did was replace some of the voice lines to match up with the first 2 games.

The new sounds were one of the biggest reasons I use an older update of this game. I had tried to fix them in the past, but I am very grateful that someone with more time and knowledge on the subject then me would do this. Thank you!
