[UPDATE] May 6, 2016 - Collaboration
Given how I haven't updated this guide in a really long time, and not even playing the game. I would suggest heading to this guide, created by a fellow Unturned player, in wanting to make servers made automatically instead of having to go through the process of port forwarding. If you're interested, check the guide out here: http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=668415286
[UPDATE] 8/16/2015
I myself Ghostly and my friend Demi haven't played Unturned in a really long time. So in case you're wondering for the latest version, we are unsure as we stopped playing the game. We're sorry if this guide hasn't been updated, and hope you all find a method to host servers. Other than that, have fun surviving in the world of Unturned.
Introduction
Hey everyone, want to learn how to host a server for Unturned so you could play, scavenge, fight, and KICK SOME ZOMBIE ASS, well.. with friends? Well, if so, this guide is for you! This guide will include two tutorials, one WITH "LogMeIn Hamachi" and WITHOUT. :) So, without further ado! Let's begin!

-Changelog-
July 9: Expanding sections to be less clumped up and clarified some things with port forwarding.
July 10: Completely revised the guide with Port Forwarding, and Hamachi. Much more neatly organized and sleek looking.
-- Hamachi Tutorial --
How to set up Hamachi (REVISED)
So, there are two ways that I currently know of to port forward/host a listen server for Unturned. One of these ways, is with LogMeIn Hamachi. LogMeIn Hamachi, is a virtual private network that you can host/have that friends may connect to. LogMeIn Hamachi will provide you with a Public IP Address, and automatically Port Forward for you. Please note, there are many alternations to Hamachi like downloading and getting Evovle, or possibly using Tunngle. The ways to use those are slightly similar but are much more complex than using Hamachi. There still are issues with Hamachi for users who are being timed out, rather than being able to be in your server/game.

How to get Hamachi:
1. Go to this website: https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/download.aspx

2. Click "Download Now" underneath "Unmanaged"

(Click "Conditions of Use" at the bottom of the page to download.)

3. Save the file, and go through the whole installation proceedure until you get to the point where this is showing on your screen:

4. Click the power button in Hamachi, and set everything accordingly.

5. FOR HOSTS:
  • Click the "Create a new network" button
  • Type in the details accordingly for your friends to connect to, please keep in mind
this is case sensitive, and your friends will have to type the Spaces, along with capital
    letters.
  • Tell your friends your Hamachi Network ID and the Password
  • If you have multiple friends that will be joining and you don't have enough space on your
hamachi network, you are allowed to make multiple networks retaining your current
    hamachi IP address.

6. FRIENDS OF THE HOST:
  • Click Join an existing network
  • Fill in the information accordingly as your one friend set it to
  • Click Join

7. You're now done setting up Hamachi, but it's not over yet, keep the Hamachi Network window open.
Hosting through Hamachi (REVISED)
After setting up your network and getting all your friends into the server, we'll now be setting up the SERVER itself in Unturned.

1. Start up Unturned and get to your "Host" section

2. Configure all of your server's settings accordingly to what you want it to be. Please note, enabling "Public" while using Hamachi will not place the server on the servers list for everyone to connect to.

3. If you are unsure about what port to set the game to, don't touch it just leave it alone. Hamachi will deal with it. DEFAULT: 25444

4. Click "Host" and your server should go up, with you able to run around in-game doing your own thing.

5. In order for your friends to connect, they have to right-click YOUR username in your HAMACHI network, and click "Copy IPV4 Address"

6. Your friends would then go on Unturned, click "Play" and click "Connect"

7. Tell them to press CTRL+V (Keyboard Pasting Shortcut) in the "IP" text box.

8. Also tell them to leave the port alone and not change it, if you changed the port to "12345", your friend would have to put the port as "12345", etc.

9. After doing so, they should be able to connect once they hit "Connect"

10. Done! Now your server should be up and running for Unturned (Hamachi)
-- Evolve Tutorial --
How to set up Evolve -UNFINISHED-
1. Go to this link: https://www.evolvehq.com/welcome

2. Click "Start Playing with Evolve!" and create an account.

3. After you have create your account and are on your profile click the red Install button at the top of the page.

4. Save the file and run it

5. Log in to Evolve once it has finished downloading and installing.

-- Port Forwarding Tutorial (No Hamachi) --
How to Port Forward! (REVISED)
This section will be if you do not wish to use Hamachi, Tunngle, or anything of the sort at all. Since this section will vary on a lot of users, please check this website for your router and follow along as close as possible. http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm Please remember, not all routers/hosts allow port-forwarding so this may or may not work for you.

1. Press your Windows Key + R to open up a window called "Run"

2. Type in "cmd" and press enter/click OK

3. A new window will show up, type in ipconfig and press enter

4. Look for "Wireless LAN Adapter Wi-Fi" and write down your "Default Gateway" + "IPV4 Address"

5. Open up your browser now and type in your Default Gateway. In my case it's 192.168.1.1

6. This might show up on your screen, type in the log-in if you know it, if not, check here[portforward.com] for your default log-in, if you haven't changed or configured it at all.

-Note- As you see "WRT54G", you could find that model in the website that I stated at the top of this section to find your default log-in.

7. Once you've logged into your router, go into your "Port Forwarding" Section. (For me it's Applications & Gaming > Port Range Forward)

In the picture, you see that I myself have a lot of ports, it's due to me hosting multiple private servers of my own, but that's nothing of importance.

8. Allowing the Port
  • The "Name" or "Application" that you set doesn't really matter, it's more for convenience if you ever forget or wonder what it is
  • Set the Port Start and Port End range to "25444"
  • Set the protocol to BOTH, not "TCP" or "UDP"
  • Under the IPV4 address section where it shows probably a "0" for you, type in the last three digits of your IPV4 address that I told you two take note of earlier. (Since mine ended with 107, I put 107 at the end instead of something like 103, or 101, etc.)

9. Click "Save Settings" (Linksys only ?) and then you're done port forwarding, you may now close out of "Cmd" if you haven't already.
How your friends connect to your server! (REVISED)
So, after port forwarding, on http://www.portforward.com/ , write down your "External IP" that is on the top right-hand corner of the webpage.

Now, to actually allow your friends and get them into your server is relatively easy at this point.

1. Go on Unturned and fill in all your server information, and settings you want to set. (NOTE: I used 25565 because my minecraft port worked just fine like 25444 would)

2. As the host, once you set all of your settings accordingly, click on "Host"

3. For your friends, tell them to click "Play", then click, "Connect"

4. Tell your friends your "External IP" that they will type into the "IP" text box

5. Make sure that all the information you tell them is confirmed/correct and then click "Connect"

Now you're all done and you should be able to play and kill zombies together! Round of applause! Good job!
How to open ports in your Windows Firewall
If you're having connectivity issues, you may need to open up or allow ports in your windows firewall. To do so, follow the steps below!

1. Open up your control panel
  • Win7/XP Users - Start Menu --> Control Panel
  • Win8 Users - Right-Click the bottom left and click "Control Panel"

2. Type in "firewall" in the search bar at the top right.

3. Click "Windows Firewall" and then click "Advanced Settings"

4. When this window opens up, click "inbound Rules" and click "New Rule.." at the right

5. On the "New Inbound Rule Wizard" click the Port option and then click "Next"

6. Click the "TCP" option, and for specific ports type "25444", then click "Next"

7. Make sure you "Allow the connection", then click "Next"

8. For, "When does this rule apply", ensure that "Domain" and/or "Private" are selected. (Depending on where you are hosting, then adjust it accordingly.)

9. Set the description and name to whatever you like, it doesn't matter, then click "Finish"

10. Repeat steps 4-9, but instead of "TCP" click the "UDP" protocol.

Now you're done allowing ports through your firewall, if issues are still persisting, let me know!

A:You must use your external IP adress NOT your IPv4 adress.

Q:I can't join a party/group. Is there a way to find eachother easier?
A:To join a party/group you must go to character on the starting screen click
"groups" join a group that you and your friend are both in then join the server. You
should see each others name when in range.

You could also use THE USO to create and host your own server. It is way easier than creating a server maually. Check it out here !
