Basics
In McDroid you plant strawberry seeds and harvest them

.. or so you would have happily done, if not for the monsters that appear.

Seeds are green and lay around on the ground or spawn from corpses
Patches are green rectangles on the ground

To pick up a seed, just walk over it, to plant it, walk next to a patch and press 'F' (or controller eqievilant 'X-button' perhaps)

Wait for a while for a strawberry to grow and 'jump' out of the patch, and then walk to it to pick it up.
When you want, or you can not carry anymore in the sack, return to the shuttle to deposit the strawberries.
These can then be sold for weapons or upgrades.
Mountables

The typical weapons in McDroid come in 3 flavours:

Lasers, Missiles & Teslas
Lasers and teslas come in 4 tiers while missiles only have 3 tiers.
You start off by buying the level 1 equipment which can then be upgraded to level 2 and so forth.
Other buyables are: Bliss-engines, bot-factories and repair-arms.
While the repair-arm will help you repair faster, it's best placed on a power-node near a lot of weapons.

The bliss-engine and the bot-factory are not weapons per-se, but they are not to be forgotten if you want to succeed.

Bliss-engines are very important if you want to beat a level.
They do multiple things, basicly it negates corruption/makes grass grow [area is blissfull]
Here comes the important part; if the area around your strawberries is blissfull, they grow twice as fast, letting you buy twice as many weapons, thus giving you almost double the chance of winning ;-)
It also boosts your weapons when they are in a blissfull area, making them do more damage.
Note: this also works the other way, meaning that if an area is corrupted, the monsters therein have boosted damage... also the corruption hurts your feet (kills you/your turrets) so know that it is bad, and that you may need a bliss-engine to counter it.

Bot factories:
level 1, produces 2 harvester bots (good for making sure those delicious strawberries dont go to waste when you're not around to pick them up, place near strawberry patches OR mount on droid to avoid having to run back to the shuttle and sell strawberries.
level 2, also produces 2 bots that, aside from gaterhing can punch monsters
level 3, also produces 2 bots with little tesla-coils for pure monster annoyance.
The good thing about level 2 and 3 is that, aside from damaging the monsters and your bots/factory receiving more armour is that it makes the monsters attack the bots instead of your turrets, IF they are the first thing to attack the monster.

The rail:
Lets you mount 2 more weapons :-D super deadly... AND practical for when you want to run into corrupted land and still be able to shoot at monsters without taking damage from corruption... that is, mount 1 bliss-engine and maybe 2 weapons... or perhaps 1 bliss, 1 weapon and 1 bot-factory for when you want to gather a LOT of diamonds
Deployables
Once you've found [unlocked] them you'll have quite some usefull things to deploy.

  • Explosive barrels
  • Power nodes
  • Bliss-trees
  • Gatling guns
  • Mutagel vat
  • Walls

The barrels are basicly mines, use as such [found in "gunfight at barrel corel"]

Power nodes - fix that weak-point in your defenses or maybe put it in your strawberry-patches to socket a bliss-engine or a bot factory [found in "too many berries"]

Bliss-trees, why first buy a power-node, and then buy a bliss-engine when you can get to a tree directly ;-) [found in "magma quarry"]

Gatling guns looks tough, kills monsters, what's more to say? [found in "the tree of life"]

Mutagel vat - makes friendly monsters that do more damage when they are in corrupted areas and less when they are in blissfull areas, use strategicly [found in "the brain bug"}

Walls - they are like these things made of bricks that keep monsters away [don't know where you can find em]
