Survive now, fight another day.
The number one important rule in this game: do not die.

The first thing you really want is ability to escape and survive, ability like vanish, teleport, dash, roll are mega important to your survival.

Nomad prob the best in this aspect.

If you got aggroed by strong enemy, the first thing you really want is run for your life. Without movement skill or crowd control (aka CC) you gonna get rekt fast. The reason why running away skill is important, because the enemy will chase you to the end of earth.

Keep this in mind: this game does not have heal mechanics, getting hit is bad on this game, not only it lower your health, it also damage your armor. But the thing is your enemy also same as you.

CC and movement is the name of the game. It does not matter if you doing low DPS, they will eventually die. Bottom line: hit and don't get hit.

The other thing you really want is map direction, you really want to know what level are enemy in there, if you go to the map where enemy is super tough, not having any survival escape skill will end with disaster.
So what skill I should get as newbie?
In terms of importance:

1. Skill that allow you to escape.
2. Summon for meat shield to escape.
3. Crowd controll skill (for stunning enemy)
4. Range skill
5. Melee skill almost useless.
Class selection
For newbie my recommendation pick a class with lots of crowd control and escape mechanics.

Inquisitor, Necromancer, and Nomad prob the best class in the game.

The weakest one is prob class with zero crowd control, and melee. Prob fallen knight.
Race Selection
Pick race with infravision, it really helps when you can travel without any light. The stats are secondary, you really want racial trait.

To be honest some class without infravision is good, but I think infravision prob the easiest for beginners.
Stats building and Damage
INT is king in this game.

The reason? So you have 3 type of weapon type.
For example:

Dagger A: 7-10 physical dmg, scale with 100% dex
Dagger B: 7-10 physical dmg, 7-10 holy, scale 50% dex, 50% Int
Dagger C: 10-15 holy damage, scale 100% int.

So Dagger C win. Most artifact have C stats. It does not matter, axe, daggers, 2 handed, as long u got C stats int have them all covered.

So in terms of importance:

1. Int, your main damage
2. End, your HP pools (stack this early on for max HP bonus)
3. Will, your CC/anti magic

Dex and Str is kinda good early on but kinda bad at endgame.

Str probably good for carrying items.
Dex only useful if you have disarm skill, or wanna play stealth early on, and increase hitrate, kinda useless at endgame.

Everybody will ends up either: a sword mage, or archer mage. There's no future for unga-bunga melee class.
Where should I go?
So the most important one is finding the direction where you wanna go. You don't wanna go to area that super high level.

Thankfully there's map on some wiki.

https://soulash.fandom.com/wiki/World_map

I will guide where you should go.

Level 1-4,

So you wanna start to destroy mensfield, kabula, mountain pass, mining outpost, sacrifical temple, forgotten temple, and amazon camp,

Level 5-6
You want to start cleaning yelling cavern, kar laduth (goblin nest inside too) , dulheln hole. If you somehow end up in dessert, go back.

Level 7-8
Destroy anheluna, alchemy guild (find swamp altar fight gods), dark foot watch.
Careful, anheluna and DFW have archer they are super annoying and on anheluna there's mage boss. On DFW there's dragon on upper level.

Level 8-9
Now go to poundcing pony, raider outpost, cinder keep, centaur camp, and shadowbane.
Shadowbane and cinder keep are dangerous since they can spawn enemy with yellow weapon. You want super careful with these enemy, they can one shot you if you not careful.

After you clean up cinder keep, make that as your base operation. Pull all your items here.

Level 9-10
You can start cleaning up pran (fight rain gods too), then start to go to desert. You can start clearing nomad camp, and troll cave, and fight phoenix.
Or just go fight phoenix first with summon rain. He is easy with fire resist, he drop phoenix feather, hey extra life.

You also can just go to north castle gate to farm some exp. Golmeda rise prob easier than north castle.

Level 11++
At this point you are already strong enough, with lots of escape skill, you probably should be fine. You can start clearing desert, like golmeda rise and scarab temple but not the black temple, and start destroying East gate.

{Work in progress}

as a new player some of the tips are really helpful but your class recommendations did not connect with me. in my experience the warlock (int with many different spells) and the fallen knight (str with nearly the full knight kit)were the most easy ones. i played normal so i dont know how they compare on hard but their relocate ability make the runs a pretty save bet even if things go south its something other classes like the necromancer only get with luck (to be fair the nomad gets something compareable with vanish in addition with haste). i really like the where should i go section it really helped me alot.

You do everything at very high levels, as a necromancer I did dfw at level 3 with nothing special. And I've done anheluna before with level 2 thanks to finding a nice artefact.

id suggest getting a shield (if not a couple as they break quick) as early as possible it helps a lot with archers and two handed don't give you enough of a damage jump to be worth it
