1. Story - Hop to it!


While on a trip to the junk yard to recycle their used bottles and cans, Pep turms them into a pogo stick.
2. The Junior Arcade Series

3. The Main Menu
Welcome to Putt-Putt & Pep's Dog on a Stick! Are you ready to play a Fun & Exciting Game?

Main Menu Options
Play New Game:
Start from the Beginning of the game.

Continue Old Game:
Continue your game from a Saved Profile.

Quit:
Exits to Windows.


You can even Create & Customize your own Levels.
Play Custom Levels:
Play a Custom Level

Change Custom Levels:
Changes your Custom Level using the Level Editor.

Make New Custom Levels:
Create a new Custom Level using the the Level Editor.

5. Level Select Screen
Are you ready to Play Dog on a Stick?

Use the UP or DOWN Arrows to select a Level to start. However, you can only play Levels that you've already been to or progressed to. After you've chosen a Level to start on Press the GO Button to start Playing or the STOP Button to return to the Main Menu.
6. Junior Helper
Like many of the Junior Arcade games, Dog on a Stick features a Junior Helper option. It is found by moving the mouse to the bottom of the screen while in the level selection menu.

This particular junior helper has one choice: Never Lose Pep.

Never Lose Pep: When this option is activated, it acts as the Infinite Lives Cheat.
7. Gameplay & Items
Dog on a Stick is similar to Q*bert, a 1982 arcade game. The player controls Pep as he hops among a series of platforms to reach the goal while collecting items, Power-Ups and avoiding enemies. As the game progresses, trampolines appear, changing the path of Pep.

Try to collect as many Items as you can & reach goal, you can move Pep by clicking on the Left Mouse Button in each level. Dog on a Stick starts with 3 Lives & you'll need all the Lives you can get. You get an Extra Life if you Earn enough Points or find a 1-UP & if you lose all your lives, it's Game Over.

If you want to return to the Main Menu during the Game, Click on the EXIT Button at the Start of Each Level.


Power-Ups
Hot Chocolate: Makes Pep Jump Faster for a short duration.
Pep Can (1-UP): Grants you an Extra Life.
Cape (Invinciblity): Nothing can harm Pep for a short Duration.
Star Platform: Makes Pep jump over 2 Spaces for a short duration.

Platforms
Bonus Platform: Takes you to the Bonus Stage.
Oil Platorm: Slips Pep to another platform.
Slime Platform: Causes Pep to get stuck for a split second.
Teleport Platform: Teleports Pep to another Platform.
Tampoline Platform: Bounces Pep over 2 Spaces.
Button Platform: When you hit one of these, something on the playfield will change.
8. Worlds & Levels
There's 100 Levels Total in Dog on a Stick. Once you beat all 100 Levels, you'll win the game.

List of Levels In-Game:
1. Junkyard (Levels 1-10)
2. Desert (Levels 11-20)
3. Sea Shore (Levels 21-30)
4. Arctic (Levels 31-40)
5. Bongo Land (Levels 41-50)
6. Crate Factory (Levels 51-60)
7. Greenhouse (Levels 61-70)
8. Cartown Gas & Tires (Levels 71-80)
9. Rome (Levels 81-90)
10. Castle (Levels 91-100)
8-1. The End
When you're done with your "High Ho, Hot Diggity!" Session, you can choose to Play Again by clicking YES to return to the Main Menu or NO to Exit to Windows after the End Credits & you've beaten 100 Levels.
9. Level Editor
You can make & play your OWN Levels since ScummVM Supports Dog on a Stick's Level Editor Feature!
9-1. Custom Level Select Screen
On this screen, you'll need to select or a Create Custom Level Save before you can start making your own levels for Dog on a Stick.

You can use your Keyboard or Mouse to enter a Profile Name or select a Profile Name on the List. You can even change the color of your name. If there's a Profile Name you don't want, press the DELETE Button or press the GO BACK Button to return to the Main Menu. Once you've selected a Name from the Profile List or entered a New Profile Name, press the GO Button to start the Level Editor. Up to 75 Custom Levels can be saved here.

Profile Letter Key (NOTE: There are 26 Letters in the Alphabet):
A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J
K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T
U, V, W, X, Y, Z, Spacebar & Backspace

Profile Colors:
1. Yellow
2. Blue
3. Red
4. Green
5. White
6. Black

NOTE: If you Make a New Custom Level with the Same Profile Name,
your Saved Progress will be Reset.
9-2. Level Editor Tools
This is where you can make your own Dog on a Stick Levels. Place any any Balloons as you want on Grid, each grid can hold up to a certian amount of items & each Custom Level Profile can hold up to 10 Levels. When you're done, hit GO to Test your Custom Level or STOP to return to the Main Menu.

10. Secret - Full CD-ROM Install (ScummVM)
Want to play Putt-Putt & Pep's Dog on a Stick without the Standalone
or Super Duper Arcade Vol. 2 CD-ROM? Then I'll show you how to do so.

First, download the ScummVM Emulator here:
http://scummvm.org/

Then, follow these steps:
1. Insert your Putt-Putt & Pep's Dog on a Stick Standalone
or Super Duper Arcade Vol. 2 CD into your Disc Drive.

2. Click on QUIT at the autorun.
3. Open the CD
4. Create a new Folder on your C Drive and Name it: "HEGames".

5. Create a New Folder in your HEGames Folder & Name it "PuttDog"

6. Copy the Putt-Putt & Pep's Dog on a Stick Standalone or the Super Duper Arcade Vol. 2's
Putt-Putt & Pep's Dog on a Stick CD Files to your PuttDog Folder on your Hard Drive.

7. Run the ScummVM Installer & follow the instructions shown.

8. DON'T Open Putt-Putt & Pep's Dog on a Stick just yet. If you're using a newer computer,
you'll need to use the ScummVM Emulator.

9. Open ScummVM
10. Select "ADD GAME"

11. Find the folder where Putt-Putt & Pep's Dog on a Stick is Installed on your Hard Drive,
select CHOOSE & then select OK.
After that, the game should be added to the ScummVM Library.

12. Highlight Putt-Putt & Pep's Dog on a Stick,
then Double-Click on it to start or select START.

14. Hints & Secrets
Bonus Stages:
Try to catch as many Presents as you can, they're worth 50pts each. But falling off the edge or if you run out of time, the Bonus Stage will end.

Power-Ups:
Try to collect as many Power-Ups as you can & use them wisely. But be careful NOT to fall off the edge, otherwise you'll lose not only a life but the Power-Ups you have.

Other Items:
Try to collect other Items besides Bones if can, they're worth more points.

Cape Attack:
If you got the Cape Power-Up, you can turn the tables on all of the pesky critters & you'll earn 50 points per critter in the process.

Hidden Exit:
Sometimes, the Goal is hidden in some of the Levels, use the Buttons to find them.

Time Bonus:
Try to finish each level as fast as you can, doing so will earn you a Time Bonus.
