when creating the world, go to the world generation tab, the forest tab, the world generation tab, and switch the starting resource variety to classic

there are mods out there that will manually disable twiggy trees without needing to disable juicy berry bushes, i would recommend that as well

twiggy trees are good for winter, as i believe they still generate twigs during winter, though i could be misremembering...
