Second, I hard disagree on the xp gain. You say it leads to lower max HP gains, and for Max HP gain per run you're correct, but in the long term it actually leads to greater max HP gains per second, which is more important. Max HP gain is a function of two different things. The amount of time survived and the multiplier you have. And you can't gain multipliers in the early chapters so spending less time on them where your max HP gain per second is lower anyways is actively advantageous to gaining max HP per second of time actually playing.
only on chapter 5 so i might end up regretting everything but so far i feel like my runs are lasting 10-20% longer than my first playthrough.
