3. Installed game using Proton compatability layer

1. Install the game;
2. Install protontricks (follow guide in above URL);
3. Install the game mod (follow guide in the mod archive, there's a PDF);
4. go to "/steamapps/common/STAR WARS - Galactic Battlegrounds Saga/Game", in this directory remove "player.exe" file, create a copy of "battlegrounds_x2.exe" and rename the copy to "player.exe";
(if you dont have "...x2.exe" just means you did not install the mod);
5. run protontricks with command from terminal: "protontricks --gui"
6. choose the game you want to configure.



7. select "default wineprefix"
8. select "run winecfg"
9. configure like so



10. accept changes and you can close the protontricks gui, proton now should be configured slightly differently for this game (does not have impact on other games)
11. disable steam overlay



12. assuming you have installed the game and the game mod and did the file renaming, just run the game from steam and use the configurator tool to configure like so:



13. launch the game, it should just work flawlessly. Proofs:


Some explanation about some points:
(4) Steam runs player.exe, here we are just tricking steam to run a different executable by renaming them.
(11) I could not get the game run with steam overlay running (if using the virtual desktop config, and we are using it to get the game running).
