Faction Colour Tweaks

Kuvaus
This Mod makes changes to the uniform colours of a number of playable factions.

My goal with this mod is to improve the uniform colours of major factions in the game with a combination of lore-friendliness, aesthetics and faction-colour consistency in mind whilst making sure that each faction of a particular race has a unique appearance.

Whilst I don’t intend to break the mod up myself (just because breaking it up race by race or faction by faction would be a lot of work I don’t have time for, particularly when it comes to updating it), please feel free to take my mod and edit it to your own tastes (I recommend using Rusted Pack File Manager, RPFM, which can be downloaded online, just google it). I kindly ask that you don’t re-upload to the workshop a version which includes my edited flags/banners without crediting me as I created these myself.

I've uploaded screenshots of the factions most significantly changed but all changes are listed below. If you don’t see a faction/race listed it hasn’t been changed, there are many I was happy to leave and some races I just don’t play much. I may update the mod in future to include new DLC factions and races or existing races I haven't got around to.

* Indicates a Minor Tweak to the tone of the colours but retaining the same colour scheme

Kislev
- The Ice Court - Cyan/Red (bringing the uniform colours closer to the faction's emblem and the concept art for the Ice Guard)
- The Great Orthodoxy - Yellow/Dark Grey *
- Ursun Revivalists - Red/Blue (matches the concept art for most Kislev units)
- Daughters of the Forest - Purple/Light Blue (secondary colour changed from grey, now matches the glowing blue eye on the faction flag)

Grand Cathay
- Northern Provinces - Magenta/Black (I didn't mind the red aesthetically but felt that it had no relation to Miao Ying or the faction. After experimenting with purple to match Miao Ying's gems / dragon eyes I personally found it didn't suit Cathay's units all that well and ultimately compromised on a slightly darker magenta. Secondary colour changed to black to reflect yin)
- Western Provinces - Orange/White (secondary colour changed to white to reflect yang)

Ogre Kingdoms
- Goldtooth - Gold/Brown (changed to match faction flag and for aesthetic reasons, no more yellow trousers)

The Empire (Note: The secondary uniform colour is actually more dominant on most late game Empire units)
- Reikland - White/Red *
- The Golden Order - Ivory/Gold (I really disliked the original “Mustard” Order; this new colour scheme is inspired by the lore including Solland’s colour scheme from the army book and images of Gold Order wizards. I also made a colour alteration to the faction flag and banners to match the new colour scheme)
- The Huntsmarshal’s Expedition - Red/Ochre *
- Middenland - Pale Blue/Blue (switched the primary and secondary around and slightly toned down the colours to be closer to the army book images)
- The Cult of Sigmar - Beige/Burnt Orange (distinct from new Golden Order colour scheme)
- Wissenland and Nuln - Dark Red/Black (switched the primary and secondary to make more distinct from Reikland)
- Minor Factions – Because the army book for the Empire gives a very clear colour scheme for the Elector Count factions, I’ve made minor tweaks to most of them to make them more lore friendly.

Bretonnia
- Couronne - Blue/Red*
- Carcassonne - Red/Blue (reversed the colours of Couronne to make distinct)
- Chevaliers de Lyonesse - Red/Yellow*
- Bordeleaux Errant - Blue/Yellow*

Dwarfs
- Karaz-a-Karak - Blue/Brown*
- Karak Kadrin - Red/Grey*
- Clan Angrund - Blue/Red*
- Ironbrow’s Expedition - Turquoise/Orange (brought back the original WH2 flag and colour scheme with some minor tweaks)
- The Ancestral Throng - Gold/Dark Grey*
- Masters of Innovation - Orange/Light Blue (changed secondary colour to be more distinct whilst still matching the faction flag)

High Elves
- Eataine – Red-Orange/Yellow (a significant change turning what was originally “Lothern” in WH2 properly into Eataine with its lore-accurate colour scheme and faction flag/banners. The faction flag and banners were created by CA and were originally used for the High Elf Intervention force in WH2’s Eye of the Vortex campaign)
- The Order of Loremasters - Blue/Red (the "default" High Elf colours and better matches the faction flag)
- Avelorn - Green/Orange-Red* (update to the faction flag)
- Nagarythe - Dark Blue/Grey (more lore-friendly and with updated faction flag)
- Yvresse - Blue/Light Blue (more lore-friendly)
- Knights of Caledor - Red/Green*
- Minor Factions - Because the reference books for the High Elves gives a very clear colour scheme for the Ulthuan factions, I’ve made tweaks to most of them to make them more lore friendly.

Wood Elves
- Talsyn - Green/Ivory*
- Argwylon - Light Green/Dark Green*
- Heralds of Ariel - Lavender/Dark Green (changed to better match the faction flag and for aesthetic reasons)
- Wargrove of Woe - Mauve/Cream (altered to better match the faction flag and malevolent tree spirit units)

Dark Elves
- Naggarond - Purple/Red*
- Cult of Pleasure - Amethyst/Dark Purple*
- Har Ganeth - Red/Black (colour change to suit the faction theme and more closely match the lore-accurate/default table-top Har Ganeth Executioner colour scheme)
- The Blessed Dread - Turquoise/Dark Orange*
- Hag Graef - Violet/Light Purple (Tweak of WH2 primary and WH3 secondary colours)
- The Thousand Maws - Black-Blue/Magenta (both colours altered to more closely resemble the faction flag)

Lizardmen (some schemes reversed to give each faction a distinct primary colour to make them more unique)
- Hexoatl - Gold/Orange*
- The Last Defenders - Dark Blue/Orange (black changed to blue to match faction flag)
- Cult of Sotek - Red/Black (colours reversed to make red more prominent, more lore-accurate to the "Red Host")
- Tlaqua - Orange/Red (colours reversed)
- Spirit of the Jungle - Grey/Gold (black changed to gold for aesthetics and to match the faction flag)
- Itza - White/Yellow (colours reversed)
- Ghosts of Pahuax - Brown/Orange (colours reversed)

Skaven
- Clan Mors – Red/Drab *
- Clan Rictus – Pale Drab/Dark Grey (changed to more closely match the army book whilst remaining unique from Clan Eshin)
- Clan Skryre – Green/Drab (changed to be more lore accurate)
- Clan Eshin – Black/White *

Vampire Counts
- The Drakenhof Conclave – Black/Dark Red (colours reversed to be distinct from Sylvania and better match the faction flag)

Beastmen (Note: Secondary colour determines the skin tone of most Beastmen units)
- Warherd of the One-Eye - Crimson/Brown *
- Harbinger of Disaster - Brown/Dark Grey *
- Warherd of the Shadowgave - Red/White *

Norsca
- World Walkers - Pallid Orange/Light Brown *

Warriors of Chaos
- Warhost of the Apocalypse - Brown-Red/Black (closer to faction flag)
- Shadow Legion - Dark Blue/Red (closer to faction flag)
- Heralds of the Tempest - Grey-Blue/Tan *
- The Decedant Host - Purple/Pale-Purple *
- Legion of the Gorequeen - Dark Red/Bronze (closer to faction flag)

Greenskins
- Grimgor's 'Ardboyz - Dark Brown/Red (reversed to be more unique compared to Bloody Handz)
- Bonerattlaz - Gold/Dark Grey *
- Crooked Moon - Blue/Yellow *
- The Bloody Handz - Red/Pale Brown (closer to faction flag)
- Broken Axe - Blue/Red (reversed to be closer to their banners and unique from Bloody Handz)
- Ironclaw Orcs - Red/Black *

Vampire Coast
- The Drowned – Blue/Yellow-Green (reversed to match the faction flag and be more distinct from Sartosa)

Bug Fixes - This mod also fixes a number of minor factions which were missing uniform colours (listed in change notes)

Hello, I was wanting to tweak some aspects of your mod. It is going well, but I don’t know how to keep the changes should you update the mod. Is there a way to do that?

Any chance of having Pirates of Sartosa? Theres only The Drowned for Vampire Coast.

A must have mod at this point, especially if vanilla unit saturation gets annoying.

@matthew39 "Warhammer 1 Texture Update Project" mod does that if you're interested

Love your colour tweaks!

Probably not the best mod of yours to suggest this, but would it be possible to add faction colouring/team colour masking to Engineer, Engineer Lord and Huntsmarshall?

(they all use red by default)
Ligma Bababooey 17.12.2024 klo 23.52
nice, the vanilla color saturation is WAY too cartoony, I would not even mind less saturation, but still S+ mod

@holyredeye sorry I don't know this mod but by all means try it and find out, this mod doesn't reskin anything just changes faction colours
Elixar111  [tekijä] 17.12.2024 klo 23.46
@ligma this mod does lower the saturation a bit for quite a lot of the playable factions that were overly saturated yes (each faction is reskinned on an individual basis though, there isn't a global 'saturation reduction' or anything)

@sylphy that would need to be a mod which retextures stone trolls to remove the faction colour mask from the loincloth which isn't really something I would cover in this mod, there may be one out there that does this
Sylphy 17.12.2024 klo 10.57
There is some way to change color of the loincloth of stone trolls ,They would look better without color like common trolls
