Introduction

So, you're looking to add a little more spice in your life? A bit more zig to your zag, or perhaps a small helping of laser guns as a supplement to Part of a Complete Breakfast™? Well, look no further, as today I'll be guiding you on how to build your own instant deathcannon in the 2022 hit roguelite beat-em-up action game SAMURAI BRINGER

Gilbert Tip #0: The first rule of gun safety is to have fun.
Step 1: A quick trip to Walmart

Alright, Step 1 is simple enough: acquire a gun from one of the Generals and find a Gun scroll. You'll know you've found a Gun when you:
  • Kill a Yellow name boss enemy with a Gun (General) (they will be shooting you with the Gun)
  • Pick up an item with this symbol:
  • (The other thing you'll need to use your newfound firearm is a scroll with the Gun skill (like a Slash attack scroll, but for Guns). When you find one, it'll look like this in your inventory):
Gilbert Tip #1: Pause the game by pressing [BACKSPACE] on keyboard or [Y] on controller. You can also pause the game by opening the Steam overlay. Opening other in-game menus will only slow down time.
Step 2: Borrow the forces of Evil (just for a little bit I promise)

Alright, now that you've made your main dish, it's time to add the special ingredient: EVIL.

Adding an Evil skill scroll to a Gun barrage attack will change the projectile from a small musketball to a wicked purple laser. You'll find them among other skill scrolls (although enemies with Evil attacks seem to drop them more commonly).

  1. Gun Classic™:
  2. Gun, now in Evil flavor:
Gilbert Tip #2: Gunpowder was invented in the 9th century, while Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation, more colloquially known as the LASER, was invented in the late 1950s by Theodore H. Maiman.
Step 3: Enter the Lab

Now that you have a grasp of what makes up the Laser Gun, it's time to start adding in some more effects. Here's what you can do to modify the attack sequence:
  • Add up to 8 Gun scrolls to add more Laser beams (adding beyond 8 will only increase the base damage)
  • Add Wave scrolls to add an AOE Evil laser explosion on hit
  • Add Samidare scrolls to hit more goombas per laser
  • Add Guidance scrolls to give the lasers tracking
  • Add Defense Break scrolls to do more stun damage to the big guys
  • Add additional Evil Gun barrage attacks to the same attack button sequence to be able to fire more lasers in succession before having to reload (can keep attacking before reload animation cooldown)
  • IMPORTANT: Equipping a second gun in your other hand will allow you to dual wield and fire both guns at the same time, effectively doubling the amount of lasers!
Some things that don't seem to do much:
  • Adding Power scrolls to gun attacks normally adds the ability for bullets to riccochet, but since we're dealing with lasers it doesn't seem to do anything
  • Can't tell if Expand scrolls increase the Wave explosion size or if they just make the laser bigger
  • I'm not sure what adding more Evil scrolls does but I assume it only makes it more Evil (a good thing, probably?)
Here's what my current setup looks like:
Gilbert Tip #3: I hope Bomb Rush Cyberfunk comes out this year. The music TR has shown off so far has been great (shoutout to the funky uncle) and it looks like it'll be a lot of fun. Adding all of those new modes of traversal seems pretty ambitious! Edit: It did not!!!! (come out back in 2022, the game was great though)
Step 4: Unleash Judgement upon the Unworthy

Now that you've completed your patent-pending Doom Ray™ it's time to rain hell upon these poor unfortunate souls that happened upon your spiritual battleground. Find a large group of enemies and take your Doom Ray™ for a spin!
[NOTE]: A lot of boss yokai through the purple portal are resistant to evil, so it'll be worthwhile to swap elements or have other attacks ready to do some damage as well. Once you unlock secondary weapons, this becomes much more manageable.
Gilbert Tip #4: The picture above is me using my setup from step 3 with only 1 gun equipped. I wanted to find a second one to show off how crazy it is with dual-wielding but it's nearly 7am and I wanna go sleep before I think too much about my poor life choices.
Conclusion

Thanks for reading my guide, hope you enjoy your new mega deathcannon ultra laser from Cthulhu himself (let's hope he doesn't ask for it back!)
Gilbert Tip #5: Thanks for the support on my last guide, it was very cool and awesome (The support, I mean. Although I think the guide is pretty good too). Feel free to ask questions in the comments if you have any, or let me know if some of those scrolls I was unsure about actually do anything or not.
Gamer Credentials (pt. 2) (the squeakquel)

So, even after I provided my fantastic qualifications for writing an instructional walkthrough on fan favorite cult classic website gtm.steamproxy.vip, I felt that there may still be some naysayers amongst the crowd, jeering at me, crying out "Alas, perhaps you did beat the Jet Set Radio tutorial, and maybe you even found the TMNT easter egg in the 2014 hit action/adventure simulation experience Goat Simulator, but are you REALLY a GAMER?" And to them I cry out "NAY!", for their pitiful accusations are based upon the mere worms that lie dormant beneath our feet, for my credentials are overflowing, and my gamer skill is endless. Perhaps you share the same creed, lest you gaze upon my next set of gaming achivements:

Swapping to poison or fire work well for bosses, although for the most part I like to use a double-axe throw with ice and a big thunder slam to follow it up. I haven't experimented a lot with knives or fans but they seem interesting

I have taken it upon myself to document some of these combinations I find in video format, since there is a simple, fatal flaw with using projectile weapons for an entire run. They won't scratch the Oni boss at all. You can stack all the lasery evil goodness and bullets into your guns or fans, but they're not going to help you with 1/8th of the boss fights. I currently have all the samurai in my base to work with on this project, and I intend to make combos once a day until I finish all the weapon types.

Dearest Thadius,

Perhaps. Although I will say that I think dual-wielding evil-type gun attacks is unequivocally the most powerful [GG-EZ] combo in the game, only further supported in well-developed save files with the ability to create additional evil-type gun attacks to further increase the "magazine" size, if you will. At this point, I think it becomes less of "what is OP" and more of "what would be fun to run around and kill enemies with?" in regard to creating attack combos for other weapon types. With all the other stuff I've messed around with and forgotten, I wish there was a move compendium for some of those 'Special' attack combinations that result in some of those unique attacks that are really fun to play with.

Cordially,
Gilbert

This helped me get the quick rescue achievement and all the scrolls I could ever want. The only problem is that I can't get other weapon related achievements while I'm scouring life from the world. Could you perhaps turn your talents to the other armaments to make truly evil combos that nothing can survive for the rest of us?
