Update e01.05.22
I am not sure if anyone has said anything about this or not, however... sitting here thinking while playing Mortal Shell the other day. See, Mortal Shell[en.wikipedia.org] is a game with similarities to Dark Souls and Elden Ring. However, when it comes to Coop Multiplay, theres none of that goin on. Just FYI for those who havent yet checked out Mortal Shell

One thing I noticed also is that, the game looks good and I love it. Graphically speaking though, that is. If you have problems downing a mob or boss in Elden Ring, you can always call in the Calvary multiplay for help right? Not in Mortal Shell, your on your own.

However that being said and done, while not trying to make this a news comparison, I noticed in Mortal Shell that there are not stuttering or FPS drops or Lag what-so ever. This is while steam is in its Online Mode, yes Steam.

So that gave me a hunch to not only follow my own guide below, but, why not just trying Elden Ring, competently offline? Meaning yes, you can play this game completely offline but with the cheat engine still on. No modding because again, the cheat engine is still on however... that being said:

Once you turn this off, this will solve some major issues as far as FPS drops hell, you might be able to turn the graphics settings up, however taking notice, this all was good for ME that is, even with my guide being followed. Yes, I too follow my own guide below and it still works even with there so-called...fix, which may have fix the bossing issues but not the FPS issue.

So when your about to play the game, just turn off steam, you might not be able to play with your friends since your truly offline but hey... at least your still able to play right?a But make sure once your done playing the game, turn steam back on so that in case of a patch or something good we all wish would come from FROMSOFTWARE like.. a tiny patch... to fix our problem rather than a 20gb patch that solves nothing and breaks more right? :)

Disclaimer: This is just a simple solution and hoping it will not be permanent as to the rest of this guide.
Update e24.04.22
Ok so here is another update that completely works. I have been testing and testing these last couple of days and from what I got, it works.

Head to your Nvidia Control Panel and just like the images below, they are exactly the same. Head to your 3D Settings under that Program Settings tab and specifically for Elden Ring. If you choose to do it globally, thats on you, but globally will make the changes for ALL of your games and programs and I dont know if you want that or not, that is up to you. This is for only Elden Ring program again, which is under the Program Settings.

There are 3 settings your going to look for. You should already have turned off Thread Optimization which we will not count since it should be off from the previous steps below. The 3 settings are as listed:

  • Background Application Max Frame Rate: Set to 60 FPS
  • Max Frame Rate: Set 60(only as a default and you should test this. If 60 works by testing online mode, night time game play, regular fights and environment as well as boss fights.

I personally did not find it satisfying as for me I can still see studdering and just a little FPS drops, but not alot. For me, I have set my BAM to 60 fps while my MFR is set to 120 fps and this helps completely for me. This worked flawlessly over night while AFK as well for 8 hours and in the background while watching youtube at 1080p.

You can check out these footage's below and if this works for you, please leave me some stars and share with others anywhere you can so they too can continue to enjoy this beloved game!

And remember as a Disclaimer, Im, not a souls pro, but am a heavy gamer in general and only want to play with the best settings. I do not claim anything else but this guide and what I found to be working. Not all settings will work for you and if they do, I am happy it has helped you. If should you follow these steps and settings, please do at your own risk via GPU as you should know your PC better than I do and what it can and cannot handle. You changing your settings is totally up to you and has been stated and liked over 3.2 million times as this is not the only place this guide has been posted. Most have found it working for them. Not all settings are needed however again, it works for me as well for others.
Update e22.04.22
So I just wanted to add this as I have thought of the fact I didnt just say 1 thing rather than posting a whole guide about it, which indeed still helps by 99% playable.

In your GPU, both NVIDIA & AMD, just turn off Thread Optimization and head to Manage 3D Settings.

You maybe thinking, "my pc is too beefy and I have no issues so im good!" If in that case, try it with it off and see how your golden by 95%. This was also suggested just a few times that I have read through the entire forums, searching for answers. Which is what prompt me to try and see if it works and it did. So if it did, you can skip the rest below, just remember, that only takes care of the 90% of the issues.

IF you want to get at least 99% optimization and playable, continue on below. Sorry If I did not lead this guide with that. However, I am greatful for the posts via reddit and twitter for all those who helped with suggestions, if you all were on my friends list, the contributions would be a tad bit long.

Someone has asked today, "well what about the 1% that completes all?" That 1% is within the software/game itself is pretty much the multiplay. FROMSOFTWARE would need to send out a fix for the recent patch which will complete the total optimization. Sometime in the next week or two, I will scour through more settings related to the game and cpu running together and see what else, right now there are a few things but, its not really needed as of yet. Thanks for reading and, keep checking back here for more updates.
Disclaimer
I hope you dont mind, these are very easy and hopefully you read the title correctly and understand that this is for NVIDIA Users only. AMD GPU owners, you can follow along however, I do not own an AMD GPU so I cannot graphically say where, however, the steps are as almost the same.
Before We Get Started
Since the patch 1.04, there has been alot of tarnished players experiancing issues with Multiplayer, in general Connection stability and so on.

Today, Im going to show you how to fix your FPS issues which is the leading cause for alot of things and then show you a few settings that not only helped me as of 21/04/22, the date of this written guide. Since I am not so much of a video person, I dont mind sharing via text.
Nvidia Control Panel
Too get started, make sure your game is closed and it saves via cloud of your online and to be safe, even if your offline. No mods of any kind should be used as I do not condone the usage so if you are modded, use at your own risk.

Press the Win+S to open up the Microsoft Search Bar for both WinOS 10/11. Go ahead and type in Nvidia Control Panel You may already have it in your task bar dock on the bottom right corner and if so, load that up instead, this is for those who do not have the NCP open at all. You can also right click on your desktop and open it from there as you wish.
Manage 3D Settings
Once that's opened, goto your Manage 3D Settings:

From here be sure your click on the Program Settings on the right side which is the tab next to the Global Settings.

Now if you need to add the game application so it will show just like the image, go ahead and press **Add**, it should be easy from there because the most frequently used programs and games are added as the priority as seen in the next image:

Select Elden Ring --> Add Selected Program

Once added, the following should be the only thing changed to help you. Anything else that you change is your own at your own risk and if I do not list it here, than... thats your GPU :)
Managing Your 3D Settings
The following below is the only settings I have changed to help the FPS process and it completely works. There are no other walk throughs on this, this was a theory and test through another source from 1 word and 2 syllables. Please follow and change these settings below:

1. Antialiasing - FXAA (global settings (OFF)
2. Background Applicaiton Max Frame Rate - (global settings (OFF)
3. CUDA GPUs - (global settings (ALL)
4. Low Latency Mode - (global settings (OFF) use if all else do not work or if youd like, I have not yet tested this but, the graphics and gameplay should still be smoother either way.
5. Max Frame Rate: 60-90 (Ive set mine to 90 even though I could go 120 and be fine or even at 60. But choose 60fps if you are unsure.
6. Multi-Frame Sampled AA(MFAA) - (global settings (OFF)
7. OpenGL rendering GPU - (choose the GPU the game is going to run on. If its already set and you see its name, then your good and can skip this step.
8. Text filtering - Anisotropic sample optimization - (OFF)
9. Texture filtering Quality - Quality (this is so you can still have the game looking great too!(optional)
10. Texture filtering Trilinear optimization - (ON)
11. Threaded optimization - (OFF)
My Settings(currently)
The following below is to show you what settings I have and to also show what yours should look like minus the GPU part since Im running 2 GPU's and Elden Ring is running on the lower end for this test:

In-Game Settings to Enhance Your Gameplay
Now that we have did that hard part, lets do the easy part and go ahead and start your game up! Then head to the settings menu and make sure your settings are similar to mine but try not to drift off as it is your option, I just have mine like this regardless of the beefy GPU and CPU Desktop which I specifically made for gaming for the next 10 years. Apparently it dont matter when it comes to this game but hopefully these settings will help you all as a temporary thing until FROMSOFTWARE puts a fix out:

I only chose Windowed for the screenshot, I run it on a Borderless.

Thank You for Reading

Now close your game, restart your PC than enjoy. I hope these settings will seriously help you out as I have said as a temp fix. I will say I have ran 3 youtube videos(2 paused) and a running twich stream in the background while running these settings and even had all 3 videos set to Auto without any problems viewing the stream and videos while playing ER at the same time.

IF you have any questions at all, please feel free. Also, if you really want to help the community as a whole, please check out this petition and pass it on to others so we can try to grab the devs attention. I will not say it will work, but, at least Im willing to try rather than complain about the patch as it is a video game and theres always things that become broken before it can get fixed! Love you all!

Worked for me, thank you so much! Now I can play the game again, since the patch it was almost not playable anymore.
