"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men." © "Pulp Fiction".

This lifepath of Sir Brante might just be the most wholesome I ever got. Following this guide, we shall spread the gospel of love and freedom throughout the realm, push our friends and loved ones to be their best selves, struggle against oppression and cruelty and fight for peaceful reformation of the Church.

Chapter I. Childhood
Birth
- reach out to the palm

The essential thematic choice. Themes of love, mercy and compassion shall be extremely important in your life.

Hide and seek
- sit there and wait

The Great Descent
- disrupt the song

"The Lots are lies told everywhere!"

The Lot of suffering
- accept the punishment

Humility and endurance are virtues that will be integral to your character

Gloria's rhymes
- offer to write rhymes with her

The newborn's cries
- redirect her anger to yourself

Toy soldiers
- tell the truth

The intrusion
- strike grandfather

You refuse to suffer injustice, even if defiance costs you dearly.

* The Ant Farm
- play with mother

* Father's sword
- agree with father

An illustrious guest
- demand that mother be introduced

The kaleidoscope
- return to your studies

Sweet temptation
- tell the truth

The Sacrament
- raise your head

You defied a powerful Will today.
Chapter II. Adolescence
The boy down the street
- resolve the matter peacefully

Riders on the road
- shield Sophia

Stephan's arrival
- join Gloria in her plight

A dropped handkerchief
- stash the trophy

A storm of expectations
- go help Tommas

It might make more sense for a future priest to study theology, but it feels too good to indulge our mischievous side and hang out with Tommas.

Sons of the nobility
- admonish the noblemen's sons

These last three choices allow you to end the second chapter with maximum affection from Tommas. You truly are friends for life.

The Silver Three
- stay with the red-haired piligrime

You begin to learn of the New Faith.

* An adult question
- dispel Nathan's fears

You already know the truth of the Twins from your deaths. You know They love you and all Their creations.

The shadow of the past
- accept Gloria as your sister

The nobleman's Lot
- follow your brother's orders

Trial of the assailants
- convince father to change his mind

Agony
- stop grandfather

The Last Respects
- return the dagger

The road of nobility and Blood Tides is just not for you.

* Forbidden love
- remind him what nobleman's honor means

Perhaps unusually for a priest playthrough, here we forge a strong bond and mutual respect with Stephan. This will be important.

The fugitive girl
- hide alone

The last night
- spend time with mother
Chapter III. Youth
Arrival in the capital
- visit the Great Temple of the Twins

Luke's sermon
- debate the inquisitor

The city that never sleeps
- go to the dueling club

It just feels wrong for such a religious person to visit a heretical society or a rebellious salon. Besides, we witness further injustice humans suffer from the hands of Arknians.

The girl from your past
- help her

Three Lots
- preach your revelation

You chose your fate, future priest.

Bonds of friendship
- take the ring

You and Tommas are so close, it makes perfect sense to take a vow of eternal friendship.

Searching for the truth
- support patriarch Luke

A pivotal moment. Through your studies, you find truth and wisdom in the teachings of the New Faith, even though you are punished for such defiance.

The Black Book
- advise to tell nothing about Aylis

Matters of Faith
- join the preachers

Your friendship with Jeanne strengthens, as does your grasp on theology.

A criminal relationship
- flee the courtroom

Jeanne's breath runs hot on your cheek.

The Second Sacrament
- show the child mercy

"This child had to feel the full burden of his Lot... Why did you show him mercy?" Because the Twins are Love, and love transcends any Lot.
Chapter IV. Peacetime, part I
Spiritual guidance
- support Jeanne

Homecoming
- spend time with Stephan

You and your elder brother used to treat each other with respect. Time to reforge that bond.

The Sacred Conclave
- accuse the Magrans

Now, it is a bit shady for a New Believer to scare his flock like that. But remember, we've just witnessed blatant corruption in the Conclave, and the Patriarch himself can be the root of this evil. There is quite a lot of sin in Magra, and it needs to be purged.

A reception at the Brante residence
- introduce mother and sister

A rock and a hard place
- send Gloria to Valona

A gift for the family
- give the jewels to nobles as gifts

I wish we could decline the gift, but Father doesn't trust us that much. At least that way, we do not damage our unity.

The La-Tari society
- preach to them

"Blessed is he who shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children".

An old friend
- have dinner with Tommas

In the shadow of the Tree
- help father Lennart

You promise to help spread the gospel of New Faith through Magra.

Call of the ancestors
- side with father

* A moment of respite
- "there is no place like home"

The Will and the Law
- support Jeanne

Now, from a meta perspective, this choice is "wrong", as this petty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Ulrich just condemns the prisoner to True Death by fire. However, from in-character perspective, it is the right thing to at least try to protect this poor lad.

The printed page
- redact and censor the books

Brothers in misery
- take them to the Inquisition

* The Principle of the Will
- disagree

Ulrich's teaching is a dark and terrible doctrine. To forsake the Love and the Law in order to lord your power over others... Decline his blasphemous gift.

Miracles and wonders
- proclaim her magic the miracle of the Twins

By the grace of the Twins, even something as vile as magic can be used for good. And that is quite a miracle.

* Lethal weapons
- dissuade Lennart

However justified New Believers may be in their anger, giving weapons to a bunch of vengeful commoners is not gonna help anyone. Let Champions of Faith protect New Faith temples from further harm.

The festival of the SIlver Tree
- appeal to mother

Though Gloria's frustration is justified, that is no reason to insult Stephan or disrupt the familial gathering.

The trail of sorcery
- help Jeanne

"Will you pray with me?" Keeping vigil over Jeanne's bed as she sleeps after her ordeal is super sweet.

Revelation
- go to father Lennart

* Stephan's gambit
- refuse

You will not sacrifice Gloria's happiness for earthly power and glory, obviously.

* The illegitimate girl
- refuse

Even though now Stephan is blinded by ambition, you know your brother for a noble man he is. Have faith in his ability to make the right choice eventually.

A confession
- these feelings are real

"You are dear to me. I need you. I'm so happy to know you feel the same". You and Jeanne forge absolute affection towards each other and become soulmates, bound in spirit and flesh.

The Patriarch's sermon
- ask New Believers to side with you

In his arrogance, Patriarch Cassius doesn't see that a shepherd's strength comes neither from his title nor his wealth, but from conviction and piety of his flock.
Chapter IV. Peacetime, part 2
* The new Sacrament
- appeal to the Overseer

Now, this IS a compromise, for New Believers are forced to disperse and stop their preaching on the streets. However, it prevents further escalation of the conflict, pushes violent radicals out of your ranks and reveals Overseer Gaius for a reasonable ruler who can be negotiated with (which will be important later).

* The hunt for Tommas
- ask your benefactor for aid

Your good deed does not go unrewarded. Grateful that you've saved his daughter earlier, Archduke Milanidas forces villainous Dorius Otton to back down. Your friend is safe.

A sinner's confession
- guide Nathan to the right path

The renegade
- lure Mark into a trap

Your bond with Nathan allows you to capture a dangerous apostate who might be essential in bringing down wicked Patriarch Cassius.

* The Sentence
- send for Jeanne and father Lennart

Condemning Father Mark to True Death by fire might sound harsh. But however decent he might personally be, his teachings still blaspheme against the Gods and tempt many souls into loveless and miserable existence. Not to mention he is partially responsible for the whole mess with Cassius. It is your duty to unite Faiths Old and New against this heresy and judge Mark as he deserves.

Deathbed
- unite the family

Your faith pays off. Stephan finds it in him to make the right choice, Gloria's gonna be part of the family, and mother is saved.

* Gloria of House Brante
- happy time

* Tommas' wedding
- perform the wedding ceremony yourself

"Mawwiage. Mawwiage is what bwings us togetha".

Repentance
- do not stop Nathan

Even though you can, DO NOT call mother. Nathan has to overcome this crisis on his own.

The denunciation
- tell the truth

Your standing in the Inquisition falters because of this scandal, but can you lie before the faces of your Gods? Never.

A family matter
- preserve the family

* The Heretic
- Ulrich escapes

A sidenote: if you do not buy into his "Willmacht" spiel back in the cave, Ulrich becomes the most hilariously anticlimactic villain of the game. He talks such a big talk about how he knows no obstacles and how he is the Will incarnate, and then he just prances away like a magnificent poof from a bunch of dudes with swords and a frail young woman.

The Final Step
- overthrow Cassius

The corrupt Patriarch goes down in flames (literally), as the schism between Faiths lits the fires of the Revolt.
Chapter V. The Revolt
* The family's fate
- agree with father and protect your home

* By their will
- the Revolt is part of Their design

You can choose "ask the Elder" option and make Nathan a prophet if you want, but I find it more fitting for a revolutionary priest to teach Nathan the gospel of freedom and turn him into a fellow New Believer.

Mustering the forces
- arm New Believers

* The Order, divided
- convince Jeanne to spare the Inquisitors

One of the most important choices in the chapter. Not only do you keep the Revolt in check and avoid bloodshed in the Order, you also keep Jeanne from doing the unthinkable and save her soul.

The Prefecture under siege
- rally the mob to defend the prefect

The March of the New Faith
- lead people into the temple

The Gods have heard the will of your people. The conflict of Faiths is won peacefully.

* A farewell to Jeanne
- convert Jeanne into the New Faith

Your mutual love and compassion allows Jeanne to overcome her despair and see a new path laid before her. When you meet again, you will meet not as enemies, but as friends and soulmates.

The Rebel leader
- overthrow Sophia

This is one sacrifice you absolutely have to make. You can't save Sophia from her own hatred, but at least you can save your people from her vengeful wrath.

* Hearth and home
- fight for your home

It is both bizzarely awesome and kinda hilarious to imagine a peaceful man of faith kick some serious ass side by side with Robert and Stephan.

"And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy My brothers! And you will know My name is The Lord...when I lay My vengeance upon thee!"

* The final hour
- ask Lennart for help

The new Patriarch helps you unite the common folk in spirit, goal and purpose right before the final battle.

* The battle for Anizotte
- achieve peace

"By the power bestowed upon me, I hereby declare Anizotte the first Free City!"

* A new day dawns
- say you would free mortals from the Lots

If you've made Nathan the prophet, you can choose the "grant forgiveness" option. But again, for a New Believer I think it is more fitting to ask for freedom of choice for all people.
The end results
Now, before we describe the general outcome of the game, I want to point out some ironically bizzare consequences of our actions.

Firstly, the Order stat of Magra goes so high that it becomes a bona fide police state, where crime and insubordination of any kind is swiftly eliminated and punished. I guess Tommas (who comes back in town and eventually becomes captain of the city guard) is just THAT good.

Secondly, because Stephan does not appreciate all that "people are equal" stuff, he tries his luck in the capital and, with the help of the family, becomes a commander of the Imperial Legion. Right when the Empire enters a civil war against nobie mutinees who want to restore the old ways. Which means Stephan is gonna wage war against aristocrats whose ranks he recently aspired to join. What a weirdly satisfying way to end his personal arc.

Other than that, what do we have?

Magra is perfectly ordered, splendidly wealthy, governed by an elected Council and the rule of law. The Old Faith is declared an obsolete heresy, and any priest who refuses to accept the new Sacrament faces death by fire. Normally, I would feel uncomfortable about such intolerance, but the Old Believers want to beat children in their temples, so ♥♥♥♥ them.

What is also important to remember is that Gods Themselves declare the Old Faith obsolete and destroy all symbols of the Lots.

Robert and Gloria integrate smoothly into new society (especially Gloria, who becomes the first poet of common birth in history).

Lydia becomes a bit grumpy and assures you that you are doomed to Hell, but at least she has calm and prosperous "twilight years" ahead of her.

Nathan joins the ranks of the New Faith clergy. His spiritual trials and experiences allow him to guide many souls to salvation.

Like I said before, Tommas comes back to Anizotte with his family and joins your efforts to build the new society. He becomes captain of the guards and maintains order.

Jeanne accepts the New Faith and remains your loyal friend and supporter for the rest of your lives. And seeing as New Faith allows people to choose their own path (i.e. for priests to have loved ones and families), I can imagine quite a lot of... ekhm... "communion" between her and Father Brante in the future.

El Borne becomes a pillar of new community.

Ulrich is captured and executed offscreen, thus ending the Willist heresy. For such an evil and ambitious man, Ulrich surely went out like a little ♥♥♥♥♥.

You lead the new and reformed Order of Inquisition, one with less punishment and more teaching, preaching and all-out spreading New Faith throughout the land. You, along with Patriarch Lennart, are remembered as the wisest, most virtuous shepherds of your time.

And, oh yeah, in the name of peace, love and goodness Dorius Otton is slowly tortured to death and then nailed to the main gates of Anizotte :)

So ends the story of Father Brante, a man of faith whose quiet words and humble prayers changed the world forever.

Hope you've enjoyed the guide, may it be helpful to you ;)

Damn! I can't even fight for my home with that one mistake.
Maybe it was because I chose Nathan as profit? Not sure

I can't save the prefect in the end because my willpower is -5 and not 0...
I think I made a mistake adopting Gloria, it wasn't specified what choice to make in the guide there

@Vance Ze Great yes. You have to choose "Protect the New Believers" option in the "New Sacrament" scene. Then, you have enough Tolerance of Faiths to spare Mark and still overthrow Cassius at the end of the chapter.
Vance Ze Great 11 Apr, 2024 @ 5:44pm
Is it possible to not do that without sacrificing other stuff?

Man I feel bad about killing Mark. I like living free.

PawG04 I'm sorry if my guide has left you dissatisfied. However, I stand by it as I've tried to stay consistent to Father Brante's character, and I think that the overall endgame is still pretty positive though by no means perfect.

Since when has a religious state that... "gently" silences its opponents ever failed? I am sure no one after Father Brante will ever abuse the Police state. That has never happened in history...
