Cathays Fireworks - Thunderclap Eruptor

Gives Cathay a high tier artillery unit, the Thunderclap eruptor, to better reflect their alchemical and pyrotechnics prowess. Based on ancient chinese gunpowder technology, it can fire two different projectiles, the Thunderclap bomb or Molten metal bomb. Also has the Jade Imperial Bomber Sky-junk variant, a specialist bomber unit with Jade-Poison-Smoke Bombs and Heaven-Shaking-Thunder Bombs, also inspired by Ancient chinese technology.


Grand cannon (Thunderclap Eruptor). Artillery piece with 2 fire modes. Recruitable from the same building chain as grand cannons.

Thunderclap bombs
A feat of Cathayan alchemical and pyrotechnical prowess, Thunderclap bombs soar high over walls and erupt in a cascade of brightly coloured flames onto their enemies below. Devastating at long range but ineffective (and very dangerous) at close range.

Long range, high firing arc makes it ideal for siege battles, as it can fire over walls easily. projectiles can burst into multiple rockets mid air and then explode upon impact into many smaller explosive rounds. Can hit a wide area of effect. Very dangerous to the crew and ineffective at close range (due to high explosion)

Molten metal bombs
A simple alchemical concoction of molten metal and black powder, Molten-metal bombs are said to cause such fires that the smoke rises up to the Celestial City itself.

A short range flaming projectile that causes the "Alchemical Burns" contact effect, which causes damage over time. Good for short range when the Thunderclap bomb is no longer a smart choice

Sky-junk (Imperial Jade Bomber)

The immense Jade Bomber airships are fitted with an arsenal of Thunderclap Rockets, Jade-Poison-Smoke Bombs and the devastating Heaven-Shaking-Thunder Bomb.

Perfect for sieges, the Jade Bomber is a dedicated bomber unit, with 2 types of bombs and the siege attacker trait. It is also equipped with the Thunderclap rockets, but has low ammunition, as it a specialist bomber unit (all those bombs take a lot a space)

Jade-Poison-Smoke Bomb

A terrifying weapon containing a curious mixture of black powder, sulfur and trace amounts of strange unstable alchemical compounds found in the Warpstone desert, the Jade Poison Smoke Bomb explodes into a burning cloud of smoke which chokes its victims to death.

Excellent vs infantry blobs, has the poison debuff effect, weak vs walls etc.

Heaven-Shaking-Thunder Bomb

A massive iron vessel filled with iron shards and black powder. When it explodes, the sound can be heard for miles; walls shake, towers crumble, houses are ripped apart.

CAN DESTROY WALLS with only 2 hits. Very limited in number of uses so best used vs walls rather than infantry.


This mod is made to fit within the vanilla game. It is not intended to be compatible with SFO, Radious or any other overhaul mods and should not be used with them. Please do not ask about submods for these because i do not support them. If you wish to make such a submod please ask permission first.

Other submods, such as translation submods are very welcome, provided they conform to the regular rules and etiquette.
