Introduction
As you may have discovered by now, Destiny PVP is an incredibly touchy subject and has to be treated as such, so no crayon eating horsing around, ok?
Part 1: Preparation
So, now that you know the premise, let's start with this:
don't play hunter.
If you play hunter, you immediately lose respect by everyone around you and will be an orphan by age 3.

What should you play, then?

Well, if you have BDE (if you know, you know), you play Titan w/ Dunemarchers and shotguns;
if you want to be either incredibly average or incredibly annoying, you play Warlock w/ Transversive Steps. (Note from resident warlock main Phil, both are incredibly average and slightly annoying, Hummus is just a titan main as you'll come to see (he still has good advice tho). Hunter still sucks to go against.)

Don't know what any of this means? Don't worry, I'll give a short explanation:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Classes:
  • Titans are the "Tanks" of Destiny, having a lot of defensive and high damage output supers and abilities, therefore gaining the mantra of "hold the W key if all else fails". They're generally either chads or dinguses, depends on their mood really.
  • Warlocks are the "support class", although you'll discover this is not true at all when you get into the PVP aspect of the game.
Imagine you're sleeping at night, and there's a mosquito flying around you, making that buzz that everyone hates, and you can't seem to kill it; that's basically a warlock that knows their stuff.
  • (Phil here, hunters are essentially the rogues of Destiny, as you may or may not have noticed, Destiny is very akin to a movement shooter. So while not titanfall, you'll find hunter is the most popular class due to this.)
(Extra side note from Phil, generally those are the "power fantasies" of each class according to Bungie, but when it comes to subclasses it's very loose. For example, every class has certain support or selfish subclasses. Bubble titan, Tether hunter, and well of radiance warlock are all great examples of support style play for the three classes.)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Exotics:

  • Dunemarchers are a leg exotic that gives them increased speed, and the ability to chain a high-damage lightning attack once they strike an enemy with a punch. As you can imagine, this is pretty stupid, being able to almost 1 shot the entire enemy team with a punch. Gamba bad.
  • Transversive Steps are ANOTHER leg exotic (starting to see a pattern here) that gives them a
speed bump and magically reloads their weapons as they sprint. This doesn't sound broken
on surface level, but paired with the most overpowered speed abilities in the game (RIP Twilight
Garrison), it gives them the ability to be annoying AF and probably have many -reps on their
    steam profile
  • (Phil again, if you are a hunter and want your own funny leg exotic, use stompees. It's extremely annoying and probably the most busted out of the 3, maybe even hunter exotics in general, but you'll be flying around too in no time.)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What I described to you is the "Meta" {as perceived by me}, and is probably gonna change in a week.
Notice how I didn't talk about Hunters: that's an example of the Hunter-alienation we need in the game. (DW all you new or old hunter mains, Philly boy talked about em for you)

Now that you know what you need to use, let's continue...
Part 2: Gameplay
You're ready to play some sweaty PVP, so you go in, click "Rumble", and wait the classic 20 minutes to find a match.

You notice that ALL the people you match with have HC/Shotty and some sort of movement tech; (yep, HC just feels too good, and shotguns are shotguns sadly)

this effect is what I like to call "metaslavism", which sadly affects a big part of the playerbase.

What are you to do in this environment? You've got your OP Exotic armor, you grinded PVE for the first half of your life, so what's missing, you may ask yourself.

What you need is a way to piss them off.

There are several ways of doing this, including but not limited to:
  • Equip what they have, but better stats
  • Le Monarque/any good bow spam with a damage buff (empowering rift, Lorely Splendor helm, anything that you can think of) or with a quickdraw 120 to finish them off
  • Invis build with flinch weapons
  • Anything that cammycakes is using

But that's only if you want to be an evil memelord. You wouldn't want that, right?

(Phil here, escaped from the dungeon for long enough to write about some things I personally recommend for having "fun", or what semblance of it exists in pvp
  • Biased pick to start off and maybe a little mean, but easily my favorite gun to use in pvp is pulses. If you want one of the best rn {as of Season of the risen}. Either Insidious the four burst pulse rifle from vow of the disciple, or Piece of mind a rapid fire kinetic seasonal pulse are amazing. Both craftable and very good rn, or you can just idk go messenger.
  • Some scouts can unironically be very fun in pvp, some I recommend are Aisha's{sorry to beat the dead horse lmao}, maybe a hung jury if you have one{pretty sure it doesn't drop anymore}, or trustee from Deep stone crypt.
  • EXTREMELY good weapon that probably will be more annoying when people start noticing how good it is, is dead messenger, that thing is nuts if you learn how to bounce it around corners in elimination. It can even catch people that are behind titan barricades, makes it a great counter to void titan's. FYI if it ends up becoming very annoying don't blame me plz.
  • Anything that isn't vigilance wing please
Ok that's it for my list I gotta go before he notices I'm gon-)

See, here's the thing about Destiny 2 pvp: you aren't playing it right if you're not pissing people off. (or alternatively, getting your bounties done as fast as possible to gtfo of pvp)

Thankfully Bungie agrees with that, and releases weapons like Lorentz Driver (ew, cringe) to help nudge that thought into people's heads.

So now that you know that vital piece of info, you can start having fun and slaying those bouncy ass hunters left and right. (hopefully I didn't cause too much trouble recommending stompees earlier, right eh?)

If you need any detailed tips on how to get more -reps on your profile because of how much of a gamer sweatlord you are, don't be afraid to reach out to anyone in the comments and specifically ask what pisses them off, tuning your loadout accordingly. (or just contribute to the annoying rise of lord of wolves again, both work)
Part 3: The aftermath
Ok, now that you have a swarm of death threats sent against you, you can finally feel something;

what you feel is completely up to you: could it be pride? loss of self respect? or even complete emptiness? (the third option is popular among hunters)

There also needs to be a moment of self reflect after you play PVP, for example, "How could I have been more annoying to the enemy team?", and the answer is always damage buff stacking and tick damage weapons.

And hey maybe you're already a god at PVP, but you play hunter so you have no real brain therefore maybe this guide wasn't as useful to you, BUT, there is one major takeaway here

lol hunter bad

Now, take the 400 -reps on your steam profile and go play outside.
oh wait you play destiny you don't go outside

This is all jokes obv, although thank christ stompees are getting nerfed (Hunters: L bozos + you will not be missed)

Maybe this will force hunters to not be the "oh wow if i press spacebar with 100 mobility and icarus grip i instantly win"-cricket-looking-idiots that they are as of writing this.

Get creative and use Gemini Jesters, Bombardiers, Khepri’s Sting or literally anything other than Wormhusk or Renewal Grasps (I also personally despise Bakris but that's because hunters are annoying little sh*ts)

Im a warlock main and this isn't a guide. This dude is the hitler of hunters. Literally this whole guide was him shitting on hunters every chance he got followed by saying "shotguns are op and handcanon's are op" well thats not exactly a surprise or new found knowledge. The most common words on screen is "palindrome adept." The pvp aspect in this game takes no skill and shouldn't be played and this man is clearly extremely upset at hunters because of how good they are in pvp.

Without hunter movement you can't do best.
I mean you can win, but on hunter you can always be more effective.
I play all three classes, here is my pvp tier list:
1. Stasis hunter
2. Void hunter
3. Dawnblade warlock
4. Void titan
5. Ark hunter
6. Stasis warlock
7. Void warlock
8. Bottom tree striker titan
9. Stasis titan

All other are not competitive.
