Use my OTHER GUIDE instead.
This guide was written for EARLY ACCESS, and as such it was totally outdated. So I deleted it. I just finished writing a NEW GUIDE to take you from the start of the game up to the point where you can grow your own algae and flowers. Go look for that. I'm keeping this note up for a little while in case any subscribers come looking for my guide so you don't think it just vanished. It's still here, just updated and relocated under a new title.

I haven't played since they added new starting locations, should be 'fun'. Thanks for the guide though, it does help. :)

I haven't had time to play the latest updated version of the game enough to rewrite the whole guide. I tried starting in one of the new areas... got my butt handed to me before I could make decent progress cuz that area is HARD. Resources are rare and scattered all over a crater, and you're stuck in that crater until you melt some ice in some caves above the crater.

This guide is old... a little outdated now. With the last couple of updates they've added NEW starting areas, expanded the map, totally changed the way zeolite and pulsar quartz work, and added more terraforming mission goals. This guide should still get you through the beginning and middle part of the game if you choose one of the three "standard" starting locations. By the time you get to the end of the "Base-Building 101" chapter, you should have a pretty good idea of what you're doing and how you want the rest of your game to go... the "Late-Game Strategies" chapter is still MOSTLY legit, but they've changed some of the late-game resources and recipes. And the Ore Mining Locations chapter is still about 90% correct... although it doesn't include the new map areas and zeolite / pulsar quartz have been changed.

There is another place to find zeolite (at least off the ground), it is near location: -125: 47:-262

N/S : Zenith: E/W, though the cave up the small hill from the starter pod, have to wait for the ice though.

Never seen that vine thing so it may have been changed out?

Yeah there are a few different ways to build your mines up.

Also, in case you haven't been paying attention to the official news, they've put out a few more updates since I wrote this guide. Lots of new stuff, particularly later in the game. Most of the early game stuff is the same, except they added a few more starting areas with different characteristics. I still haven't had a lot of time to play this game lately but I've been reading the updates. Read the patch notes and the update news if you're curious what's changed.

Thanks a ton, I read this while playing the demo and this was a great way to get started! It got me all the way to aluminium mines without too much fuss or getting flooded out!
Only change I would make though would be definitely skip extractors in the iridium cave, stick with mining aluminium instead to make more alloys, and just try to go straight for the iridium-meteor rockets instead! The filtering of T1 extractors can be a bit strange and wonky at times haha, so I found getting pure iridium meteors more efficient.

Zeolite can now be mined and fabric can be crafted.

FYI they recently released an update that expands the game with some NEW regions, NEW crafting recipes and unlocks, etc. I have not yet had time to jump in and play the new update, so some of the info on this guide might be a bit outdated but I believe most of it (particularly early-game stuff) should still get you where you need to be.

Another comprehensive guide created by dj ... got my desire to buy this game increase with each paragraph that I read. This game reminds me of Space Engineer and No place like home ... odd that a build and quest/puzzle game would seem similar. Checking further.
