Starting out
Welcome to 'The Signifier' - a puzzle/sci-fi detective game. Here are a few things to know going in.
  • What's that? You wanted 100% ? Sorry, but I think you want this guide. Thanks for visiting!
  • Sadly, there's no manual saving - just autosave.
  • The autosave appears to have a limited numbers of save slots - meaning I was unable to go back to some earlier chapters without restarting
  • Icons (eye, hand, etc) will show up when you can interact with something
  • You use your phone whenever you're in the real world.
  • In memories, you will need to switch between Subjective and Objective mode
  • Reminder - Q = cellphone / switch states
  • There are quite a few multiple endings
  • The endings will depend mainly on your dialog choices

And now, a few things to know about this guide.
  • This guide is incomplete. Sorry - it is what is is.
  • There are currently no plans to complete it.
  • The biggest hole in this guide is what responses are needed to get each ending.
  • Some chapters will have achievements that cannot be gotten in the same run (such as the multiple password options in Chapter 2) Due to autosave system slots, if you want to get these, I suggest you reload as soon as possible - otherwise you will have to start a new game

Chapter 01
The game begins with you opening a case with files and an electronic copy of the victim's brain. After looking at everything, you can travel to the apartment of the murdered. Explore the apartment, observe everything you can, and talk with the police. Find out the approximate cause of death, return to the lab. There, we insert the digitized brain and activate the IVI, our future companion for the whole game.

We pass into the last memories of the victim
Inspect the apartment, find the clock. Find the raw data and repair the clock
Human abilities - Solve one Raw Data
Now we get a ladder into another memory. Find and repair the sink memory. After the transformation of the memory, we see some kind of hand, near the bed. There are two options: if you want to finish the level, then inspect it, if you want to look around, then skip it for now. Before you do, you can find the laptop for the next achievement
Objective Facts - Found Laptop in the Objective State (Death Memory)
Call Tom and make a choice

We return home, go up to the second floor and lie down in bed, and dream... (and get another dialog choice)
Chapter 02 Childhood
You wake up, and can look around the apartment (and check your email). You'll receive a letter. Yo can then return to the laboratory and speak with IVI. Scan the letter, and get ready for the next memory.
Here we meet with another gameplay element of the game: the Time Manipulator. We move the slider until the moment when the man completely sits on the chair. Next, we go into the Subjective mode and looking around the apartment we see a spider-like creature in the black space. When interacting with him, the protagonist will say, " He doesn't seem to like it when I look at him ." This is a hint to solve the next puzzle. All that is required of the player is to turn around and walk backward until they hit the wall
Out of the Box - Solve Kitchen Puzzle
Next, we examine the apartment and see a dark passage. We pass through it and see a fork.
Let's go LEFT first. We look around, we see a dog and a Manipulator next to it. We bring the slider to the end and get the dog as an avatar. Further, in the form of an avatar, we go to the RIGHT. Optionally, we can exit the avatar and look around, but do not interact with a huge arachnid thing, otherwise the memory will restart . We reach a huge arachnid thing that blocked our path, wait for it to crawl up and exit the avatar.
Unconscious Laws - Enter the repressed room
We get Primary Data in the form of a little man. We return to the very first childhood memories and activate them near the computer. We find out the address, and return to the laboratory. You can call Tom again at this point (If you do, you will also get a call)
True Detective - Solved the password gathering only information from the Childhood memory. You can call Tom and give him the password now - 309. If you do, the achievement will pop once you reach the childhood home
We go to the address, we reach the green door in the apartment and interact. We learn very interesting details of the case, go to Joan's room, look into a shard of a mirror, and learn the password - POE / 309, if desired, call and tell Tom, then return to the laboratory.

Other Possible achievements
Irreverent - Give an incorrect password on purpose
No lie, no debt - Tell Tom that you don't know the password.
Brain Decrypter - Solve the password after seeing Johanna's room in reality
A Mark in Time - Found Martha's Room in Reality - when you go to the childhood home, in one of the rooms (presumably Martha's room) there is giraffe on the wall, interact with it
Chapter 03 Can't find the name for this chapter
We talk with IVI, find out the dream is finished, and we head into it.
Perspective and Time - Solved the first perspective puzzle in the Dream Sequence
Solve the puzzles and find the girl. Then turn around, solve a few more slider puzzles, and follow the water. Once you find a few new pieces of information, you can return to the laboratory.

Go-AT
There are no mysteries or confusing moments in this segment, we just talk to the characters and go where they tell us. The only thing worth noting is that the ending of the game partially depends on the answer options we have chosen .

After all the action, we learn about Alex, the former lover of the murdered woman, we go to him, but we won’t be able to talk to him the first time. We return to the laboratory.
Chapter 4 The Collapse
We meet with our daughter, after some dialogue, she gives us a hint regarding the letter.
We talk with Evie, she tells us that two memories are available at once.

School Years
Now we need something that is connected with the school years. In Objective mode, just look around. Switch to subjective mode. We see that the passage to the classroom was blocked by the shadows (well, or, as in my case, they just threw me out, since I switched to the Subjective mode while in the classroom). We go to the stairs, we see the Primary Data there, we go to the backyard and place them near the teacher. It is important not to go near the shadows along the way, because then they will attack you. We pass into the classroom, look around and get what we came here for - Primary data in the form of a woman. They will play a very important role in the next level.

Club NSFW
We select the next memory, everything is voxel in it, go to the Subjective mode, try to hear what Alex and the deceased are saying, but it doesn’t come out. You will find several masks that stop you in this level - using the woman data will distract them, allowing you to pass/solve puzzles. Remember to pick her back up! We go into the passage to the left of them and get into the club. Past the stage and go into the passage illuminated by the spotlight. Here is the puzzle with masks. You'll need to use the woman data to solve it
Unconscious Laws 2 - Solve the shame puzzle
Leave and enjoy the show (unless you have epilepsy). A door opened near the stage.
Here's where you out find out what kind of club this is. Next to the door there will be another primary data, pick it up. Go downstairs, then through the corridor. Solve the Time Manipulator puzzle (using the woman data to disable the masks). Once the phone is in the man’s hands, you can use the other data to open a door. You will need to go down the other passage to find a usable avatar and go to the newly opened passage. We reach the very end and exit the avatar next to the chair. Watch the cutscene and see what how the main nightmare of this game appears - an unknown biomass creature. The thing can't pass the masks, so use the woman data to disable them. Eventually, you will lead it back the ballroom, giving you a choice
Super Ego - Let the mask dominate over the creature
ID - Nullify the mask to let the creature free. Use the mother data on the painting to let the creature pass.
Back in objective mode, you can now see the IVI next to the masked figure. Investigate here, then return to the apartment of the murdered woman, where we successfully eavesdrop on the dialogue with Alex.
We return to the laboratory, go to Alex's apartment, find out from him everything we need and a new address - Richard's House.

Richard's house
As with the segment with the Corporation, there is nothing complicated. We examine the house, go to the backyard and go down to the basement where we see a terrible picture - a dead Richard with a burnt brain.

Having examined the basement superficially, we interact with the steam boiler. Hearing the phrase, "This cauldron is from Joanna's dream, I wonder what it could mean", we go to the cauldron and take out the hard drive from it. We leave the basement, open a short way, after which our daughter calls us and informs us that someone is in the house

We went there, we see a mess, we find a mask and talk with Laura, finding out that she leaked information to her friends, we talk with her, and eventually get an achievement

A different person - Good ending with Laura
Human - Neutral ending with Laura
Broken - Bad ending with Laura
Chapter 5 Final Chapter
We go to the laboratory, we connect the hard drive to the scanner and ask the IVI to scan it, we go to the earliest available memory , we immediately see another Primary data in the form of a spoon, we select them, we go up to the second floor, we place the Data near the hand by the bed. We catch an error and ask us to restart the simulation. We are thrown back into the laboratory, but there seems to be no electricity. After interacting with IVI, we go to the door and find out what jammed it. Suddenly part of the light in the laboratory lights up and we see the silhouettes of people in two windows.
We need to interact with the shadows, after which another simulation crash occurs.

The final
After wandering a little through the surrealistically constructed fragments of memories and chatting with Evie, we go out into a distorted version of the laboratory . There are two options: talk to Evie and turn off the simulation (one of the endings) or wander through the memories. After wandering through the distorted memories and listening to the IVI, we return back to the distorted laboratory and chat with her. Here again, a choice is given.

'Delete upload protocols' gave me Ending: Carl (Director's Cut only) Get the Carl ending.
Not deleting the protocols gave me Ending: Go-AT 1 - (Director's Cut only) Get the Go-AT 1 ending.

Other possible endings / achievements
Ending: Go-AT 2 - (Director's Cut only) Get the Go-AT 2 ending.
Ending: TSB 1 - (Director's Cut only) Get the TSB 1 ending.
Ending: TSB 2 - (Director's Cut only) Get the TSB 2 ending.
Ending: Laura - (Director's Cut only) Get the Laura ending.
The Human Experience - (Director's Cut only) Laura ending, Club creature free.

I did not manage to get any of the following (ending?) achievements
Progress at all costs - Align with Go-AT
Control at all costs - Align with the TSB
Not my problem - Try to dodge the tensions between Go-AT and the TSB
Let the monsters kill each other - Try to damage Go-AT and the TSB by helping both

A few final things
A Mark in Time - Found Martha's Room in Reality - Sorry, I completely forgot where I got this achievement
Collector - Get every impression available in the control panel. I had a heck of a time with this one - The last memory is a pain. Possibly buggy. To get it, you need to get every impression in every memory. Hitting Q will bring up the memory map, which gradually fills in as you explore. Make sure to find them all before continuing with the story! As you progress, you will eventually lose access to the earlier memories.

Finally - I hope this guide helps you out if you get stuck. Sorry it's not complete, but i thought it better to release it in it's current state until someone comes and does a better job than me (which will hopefully be soon!)

A mark in time achievement is in chapter 2, when you go to the childhood home, in one of the rooms (presumably martha's room) there is giraffe on the wall, interact with it and you get the achievement.
