Thops's Barrier's requirement is fairly easy. Unlike the Erdtree Greatshield and the Barrier of Gold you don't need specific stats to use them.

Ash of War: Thop’s Barrier

Thop's Barrier is an Ash of War that can be applied to small/medium shields. This allows you to parry incoming spells attacks, including Moonveil.

ASH OF WAR: THOPS'S BARRIER LOCATION IN ELDEN RING:
Pre-Patch 1.03: Liurnia of the Lakes - Dropped by a Teardrop Scarab found on a small isle on the west side of the lake. The Rock West of the Dragon. This scarab now drops Somber Smithing Stone (2). [Elden Ring Map Link][eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com]
Post-Patch 1.03: Dropped by a Teardrop Scarab that spawns in the Church of Irith after Thops leaves for the academy. [Elden Ring Map Link][eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com]

Barrier of Gold

Barrier of Gold is an Incantation in Elden Ring. Barrier of Gold spell increases Magic Damage negation for both user and nearby allies. One of the incantations of Erdtree Worship. Greatly increases magic damage negation for the caster and nearby allies.

BARRIER OF GOLD LOCATION IN ELDEN RING:
Leyndell, Royal Capital: Dropped by an invisible Teardrop Scarab. Can be found after heading down the stairs and taking the elevator, right after the fight with Godfrey, First Elden Lord (Golden Shade). [Elden Ring Map Link][eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com]

Erdtree Greatshield

Erdtree Greatshield is one of the best, if not the best spellsheld. Counter any spell using this shield, inculding the Moonveil.

ERDTREE GREATSHIELD LOCATION IN ELDEN RING:
Can be acquired by Killing Tree Sentinel Duo. [Elden Ring Map here][eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com]
Tree Sentinel Duo is a Foe Boss found in Altus Plateau. Near the Outer Wall Phantom Tree grace

i honestly prefer carian retaliation on the ice crest shield. the ice crest shield boosts magic dmg negation, and carian retaliation's damage scales with your shields damage. so if you get a parry off with it the projectiles will do somewhere over 1500dmg, and then also using barrier of gold ontop for extra dmg negation.

Also clarify for all of you STR faith users out there that are a bit tanky! Barrier of gold is a MINIMUM 60% magic resist shield to ALL friends and you. It accounts for your armor for that percentage and can be all the way to 80-90% seemingly. I've face tanked a comet azur for about 3 straight seconds and didn't go to half HP.

also if your running a faith build Barrier of Gold straight up reduces all magic damage by a flat percentage, very useful to keep in your back-pocket.
